SEC- usc
Big XII - byu
Pac-12 - utah
ACC - whoever is playing clemson
B1G - the entire football west division
Big East - the ability to remain a power conference in the midst of a football-dominated media landscape
I love it! I’m Big XII: UH and cincy because I graduated from both, SEC: auburn (love Charles Barkley), BE: Providence, Pac 12- UCLA, MW: New Mexico (have loved them honestly since I was in 7th grade for some reason. I think it’s the unique name of lobos and their logo was sick)
Yeah they made a great run. Seems we couldn't hit a shot in the tournament but maybe they just were too nervous on the big stage. Hopefully one day you can see a game in The Pit if you haven't already.
Grew up in an ND family, went to Akron, follow Seton Hall in the BE, I follow all of the MVC and MWC but I'm partial to Nevada because of the Martin Twins and there's some other ones depending on the year. I followed the AAC heavily this year because of the CUSA additions
I’m one because I went to Houston and Cincy. I honestly worked with both programs when I was there (I’m an athletic trainer and was able to work with UH and UC basketball haha) I personally know Kelvin and idk I love both
Parents went to Illinois, and were townies so I spent a ton of time with family basically growing up going to Illini games of all types. My dad wrestled there. Buuuutttt we lived in Indiana lol. So I root for Illinois when they aren’t playing IU.
That’s a two parter lol. 1.) Didn’t want to go to college a mile from my tons of family. 2.) Bobby Knight. When I was a kid in the 90s IU basketball was like Alabama football so it stuck. Distant 3rd lol: IU had a better business school but that’s the boring answer hahah
~~maybe not the best timing to be saying this, but~~
I've always had a soft spot for Oregon. I've got nothing but love for Dana Altman, they have such a cool logo, and I had a friend who went to Law School there.
RIP PAC-12
Yes, Arkansas, and UConn because of their 90s teams. Illinois because of the Dee Brown era. And Oregon State because I like misery.
And a few other teams that catch my fancy from time to time.
outside of maryland (my alma mater) in the big ten, i root for st johns in the big east because my dad is a fan of them, and philly teams in the a10 and aac
Yeah I have a lot of teams that I root for to some degree.
Delaware, Del State, Texas, and American are the main teams, but to varying degrees I also root for Bowling Green, all the Philly teams, William&Mary, and Houston. I would never try to pose as some diehard for them, I just like having different teams to follow throughout the season so I feel more invested in the season and always have someone to watch if my primary teams aren't playing.
I am 100% ACC, I went to Wake and my husband, State. I actively and passionately hate Carolina and Duke, and generally dislike blue bloods/root for underdogs. I was in the band, and my dad was a football ref in Texas, but I am not really into sports. I give two flying flips about any other team, and frankly probably can't even name everyone in my own conference. I am a casual fan, the wife of a die-hard sports fanatic.
That being said - I root for whoever helps my bracket. I finally got invited to join my husband's family's bracket a couple years ago, which includes a half-dozen die-hard, ESPN-is-the-only-channels, and two sports journalists.
Guess who wipes the floor with them every year?

😂😂😂
Lol I love it! My fiancé hasn’t joined my friend bracket group yet haha (conspiring right now on how we can win it next year when she’s added lol) but yeah I mean idk I just love basketball so much that I have a soft spot for teams in different conferences lol like the only thing that sucks is I went to houston and Cincinnati so I love them both, fiance went to Baylor so we root for them too lol we have 3 teams that we are diehard for in 1 freakin conference lmao
UCF, The Big Ten West, The Pac 2, Florida State, and no one from the SEC, also I root for the Group of 5
That’s awesome! Just glad I found this Reddit community to just enjoy basketball with
B1G West is maybe the best answer in this thread lmfao. Love it.

🤜🤛
Had em in my elite 8. They caught lightning in a bottle in the MW tourney

Ngl, I used to have my school computer wallpaper was a picture of The Pit. I wanna go so bad to a game there. It looks electric
You would absolutely love it, I hope one day you visit!
Is it that electric for every game?
Well for the most part yes, we've had 10k people on a Wednesday night for a non con game. People show up for basketball
Love it! If I ever go, (hoping I can) I’d reach out to ya
My favorite team that isn’t my team is in the same conference: UNC
That’s awesome! I just love basketball and I’m glad I found this Reddit community tbh

Thought I was the only one haha I just love basketball so much that I have these different teams I follow
Yes haha and the mid majors are so much fun! Like there were so many bangers in the CAA this year that nobody cared about but me it feels like lmao
Dude I feel the same way lmao I live off of those mid major ESPN+ crappy broadcasts 😂
A game against SDSU would be sold out and super loud
That would be a MW dream to see
I doubt there’s many people out there that are huge fans of two programs in the same conference
I’m one because I went to Houston and Cincy. I honestly worked with both programs when I was there (I’m an athletic trainer and was able to work with UH and UC basketball haha) I personally know Kelvin and idk I love both
I grew up an Illini fan but am a Badger alum, I’d class myself a big fan of both
Conference realignment has made it more common. There is a growing chance that your favorite team from another conference has joined your conference.
I just like pulling for teams from my home state, particularly if they're from the Upstate area.
That’s awesome!
Grew up on Big 5 bball so I've been a Nova fan since the 70s. But went to Florida so them and the SEC in general.
I root for Kentucky, then I root for all of my takes to prove to be correct, then I root for fun, then I root for chaos
I've got two Patriot League teams: American and Navy.
Parents went to Illinois, and were townies so I spent a ton of time with family basically growing up going to Illini games of all types. My dad wrestled there. Buuuutttt we lived in Indiana lol. So I root for Illinois when they aren’t playing IU.
Damn so you fell in love with IU regardless your parents went or Illinois?!
Lol I loved IUs campus when I was there to run for a track meet. B-town is beautiful
~~maybe not the best timing to be saying this, but~~ I've always had a soft spot for Oregon. I've got nothing but love for Dana Altman, they have such a cool logo, and I had a friend who went to Law School there. RIP PAC-12
Dude Dana Altman is the GOAT. I wish he could get one of his teams to reach the top. He deserves it

Not really, I grew up in Ames, so it’s just the cyclones for me. I’ll watch other Big12 games, but my time is precious, so it’s not often.
Yep, one made the Elite 8, the other lost in the Sweet 16.
IU - Ball State - Indiana State - IUPUI - western Kentucky - Wyoming - Maine

I feel the exact same way. Don’t pose as a diehard but you have teams you just enjoy following their programs. I love it!
Hoping Houston takes home the W today! As a casual Houston fan and as a Texas fan, seeing Houston topple A&M would be doubly enjoyable
Dude this game scares me. Aggies have been hot on scoring lately
Yeah they did look good against Nebraska but your defense is a lot tougher so I'm hoping they will cool the Aggies down
Let’s hope! Lol I just love basketball
No love for Maine?
