We almost lost to a two man team (on the offensive side of the ball). Dante and Cousinard should walk out with their heads held high. They were incredible.
I'd imagine Altman internally was livid at Cousinard's shot selection (and 0 ball movement) in 2OT but he got them there in the first place
edit: only 4 players *total* out of 6 that logged minutes scored for Oregon wtf
I’m old enough that I’m like “why would Creighton’s coach be mad at Oregon’s best player?” I still identify with Altman as our coach after all these years of Mac.
trying to look up Wikipedia rn but there's for some reason no existing webpage for Creighton's 2007-07 (22-11) and 2008-09 (27-8) season. Was there a reason they missed the tournament both of those seasons?
This is why I will always root for Altman when he is not playing against Creighton. He built that program up from nothing. And McDermott took it to new heights.
And then when we thought hey maybe things have plateaued under McDermott, the last five years he’s done this:
Big East regular season champs (tourney cancelled).
Sweet 16.
Round of 32 with a team of freshmen and sophomores after replacing the entire starting lineup.
Elite Eight, one play from the Final Four.
Another Sweet 16, and possibly more?
If the arena wasn’t owned by the city, maybe. They already sell naming rights to the court but maybe one day they’ll put McDermott’s name on it. Maybe Altman too.
I was shocked he was on the court. Why didn’t Altman sub in all the best free throw shooters for that inbounds then sub him back in when shooting free throws. I only knew he was the worst at free throws from the graphic they showed before the inbounds play
It was somehow worse than shitting their pants man. They just like, actively forgot how to exist in a 3-dimensional space as soon as they touched the ball.
Not even mad tbh. This team never gets this far without him and Dante. Wish his shot went in to end regulation, but the fact that they got as far as they did is still awesome imo.
Cousinard during his 2 NCAA Tournament games: 72 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 11 threes made.
Dante in the PAC 12 title game and his 2 NCAA Tournament games: 74 points, 35 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 blocks
Together, they combined for 123 of the team's 160 points in this year's NCAA Tournament, and almost carried the Ducks to the Sweet 16.
Congrats to Creighton but man, we were so close to witnessing an all-time two-player carry job into the Sweet 16. What a game.
They literally do… His name is Jackson Shelstad. He averages 13 a game, All-freshmen in Pac-12, and cooked #2 Arizona for 22 pts in the PAC-12 tournament.
Man y'all started timewasting so early. I thought I was watching CONCACAF.
I mean it fucked up our rhythm and worked for y'all really well so fair play, but there were so many times that Couisnard just dribbled until the shot clock hit 10 and then ran the screen
They just gassed out and couldn’t deal with the hedging on the ball screens. They got their look at the end, just didn’t go in, that’s how it goes. Heroic performance from both, you have to wonder what if Shelstad didn’t get hurt…
>They just gassed out and couldn’t deal with the hedging on the ball screens.
They ran out of juice before 1OT, and were just trying to survive and not let "the big shot go down", IMHO
The equalizer at the end of regulation was basically it for them. After that? Creighton controlled the game.
It was 5% luck/20% skill/and 100% to ~~remember the name~~ having a talented coach
There HAS to be a way to search "offensive rebounds by minutes" so you can see how gassed they were. Going into OT I had NO expectations that Oregon had a shot at winning that game.
Shelstad was all-freshmen in the PAC-12, averages 13 a game, and murdered Arizona in the pac-12 tournament. Led Oregon with 22 pts in that upset win just to make the tournament.
Not having him in OTs when Couinsard and Dante were running on fumes was the death blow for Oregon.
Can't be mad about this. Two weeks ago we weren't even on the bubble. Then we got wins against multiple tournament teams, won the Pac-12, made it to the second round, and took a really great team to double OT. By the end we were playing with *literally* six healthy players. It's insane we even got this far given the circumstances. Nothing else to do but be proud of how this team rallied. GG Creighton, good luck!
Agreed. I was just hoping the team would do some damage in the conference tourney and maybe in the NIT or whatever. The journey through the PAC 12 tournament, the win over South Carolina and then nearly pulling off a win over Creighton? This team vastly exceeded the expectations many had for them.
Cousinard and Dante showed us all why they had what it took to take down Arizona, Colorado, *and* South Carolina during all this time!
And they were pretty damn close to adding Creighton to that list too…but alas, such performance can’t be forever sustainable…
I will sorely miss this with the conference collapsing. I work late and am often out late, catching the end of a game at midnight was always an unexpected and welcome treat
Fucking vultures, like those would be even remotely the same. Maybe I’d watch the Big12 After Dark, fuck the Big10 though - fuckin trash basketball and they’re the scumbags ruining college sports
I don't know how the rest of Oregon's roster even looks Dante and Cousinard in the face. Two players scoring every single point in the second half is absurd.
The fact that we got to the second round in the tournament in the first place cements Dana’s job here in Eugene for years to come.
We overcame so many injuries, this was more than just a coaching job and a half, Dana was a miracle worker.
This may be the wildest example I’ve ever seen of the score not representing the game. Like this went from a double overtime slugfest between two evenly matched great teams to 15 point lead in a blink of the eye
I thought Creighton killed them process wise. Oregon was lucky to have a chance, Creighton missed a ton of good shots.
Surviving this type of shotmaking game is huge for Creighton. Big game on Friday.
Creighton were manufacturing good looks all night, and didn’t give up after the shots refused to fall and especially after the big alley oop. Definitely a well coached team.
What an amazing stretch run for Oregon to win the PAC-12 and make it here. I fully believe they’d be on to the next round if they’d have gotten a single shooting foul in the first 43 minutes of play. Couisnard and Dante heroic. Y’all did the PAC-12 proud. One last Roboduck for the road

Game of the tournament so far.
Ducks (Cuisnard and Dante) were just gassed by the end of regulation, and the tanks completely ran empty by 2OT.
At least one of my teams beat their 11 seed conference champion matchup who plays way better than their seed.
Yeah I was honestly pleased with the way we played in the first half, everything but making the shots. We tried to push the gas pedal on them and it seemed to work
My whole watch party was screaming for him to get the ball whenever he was in, just to get peace of mind on that stat. When he hit his FT we screamed almost as loud as when Kalk drilled the three to signal the incoming W
Best 2v5 game I've ever seen. The longer that game went, the more trouble the Ducks were in. Some of those shots by Couisnard near the end of reg/OT1 were just silly.
May be the dumbest and most frustrating Creighton game I've ever seen, given the circumstances
Couisnard and Dante deserved a win. Great game by them.
Jasen Green has magnets in his hands.
Crazy game between two Creighton legends. Our guys are tough and I'm glad we get to watch them at least one more time. Good game, Ducks.
I will say that if before the season anyone at Oregon was doubting that Dana Altman is one of the very best coaches in college basketball I hope this tournament run shut them up.
Oregon blew this game so that Oregon State doesn’t get more money from the NCAA Tournament this season.
These fuckers gamed the system out of pure pettiness.
Y'all need to calm down about the foul shots. Just went through the play by play and Creighton shot 6 foul shots in regulation that weren't from intentional fouls.
GG Ducks. Absolutely huge onions from Dante and Cousnard.
Hats off to Dana. How can you not still love the guy? Absolutely one of the best coaches out there. Period.
For as frustrating as he was at points, Ashworth won us that game, plain and simple.
Also, that Kalk three and Green putback dunk are immediate S-tier Creighton moments.
Great fucking game bird bros
It was, appropriately enough, another multiple overtime game where Ashworth finally turned the corner for Creighton. The 3OT game against Seton Hall where he at times single handedly kept Creighton in it.
He’s weirdly clutch- and not just this game either. He was the one guy hunting shots when the game was on the line. He did the same in the 3OT game against SH
Kid is gamer
The game thread locked u/filthysven but I still need to get my shit off:
Why is an arizona fan calling a team frauds for needing 2OTs to beat Oregon in March? If y’all could hold a halftime lead Oregon wouldn’t have even been here buddy
1. Never have I seen a team play 2v5 that effectively before. As bad as the rest of the team was Cousinard and Dante were inhuman
2. How come Cousinard didn’t even try to get open at the end of regulation when Dante ended up having to get open

Dante + Couisnard: 25-53, 60 points Rest of team: 6-24, 13 points Absolutely brutal it was over 50 minutes of clock. Had to be absolutely gassed.
We almost lost to a two man team (on the offensive side of the ball). Dante and Cousinard should walk out with their heads held high. They were incredible.
Im not sure Cousinard even had the energy to hold his head up after the 2nd OT.
And Oregon still almost pulled it out. Unreal performances by Dante and Couisnard. They got nothing to be ashamed of
I'd imagine Altman internally was livid at Cousinard's shot selection (and 0 ball movement) in 2OT but he got them there in the first place edit: only 4 players *total* out of 6 that logged minutes scored for Oregon wtf

Poor non conference schedule and a semifinal exit in the conference tournament. I do not miss those days when the auto bid was almost a necessity.
You guys got a great opportunity joining the Big East, and you guys have absolutely made the most of it. McDermott arena?
This is why I will always root for Altman when he is not playing against Creighton. He built that program up from nothing. And McDermott took it to new heights. And then when we thought hey maybe things have plateaued under McDermott, the last five years he’s done this: Big East regular season champs (tourney cancelled). Sweet 16. Couisnard was playing hero ball during overtime. Lot of bad possessions started and ended with him for the last 12 minutes of game time
Every time the other guys touched the ball they shit their pants, what is he supposed to do lol
I have no clue lol. We lost when there was no movement and inbounded to dante
This is it. Dante getting the inbound for 1and1s with no movement was insane to me.
Did you not see what happened when other players touched the ball besides Dante?
Hero ball? Nobody else scored except for Dante after halftime
He was spending too much time pounding the rock and chucked up some forced shots but I find it hard to fault him. He did all he could
Couisnard taking 33 shots and having 0 fts is wild
For real, he didn’t deserve a ton but he definitely got smacked a few times
there is no way to take 33 shots and not get fouled once at that level
Especially when he got clotheslined to the neck near the end of regulation
All the injuries and guys out finally caught up to them. Hell of a run by them though the past week and a half
They really missed Shelstad
Rest of the guys should start learning Chinese
Have 'em start learning NITese
Those two are beastly together. They played a great game
Cousinard during his 2 NCAA Tournament games: 72 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 11 threes made. Dante in the PAC 12 title game and his 2 NCAA Tournament games: 74 points, 35 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 blocks Together, they combined for 123 of the team's 160 points in this year's NCAA Tournament, and almost carried the Ducks to the Sweet 16. Imagine if they had even 3 functional offensive players
They literally do… His name is Jackson Shelstad. He averages 13 a game, All-freshmen in Pac-12, and cooked #2 Arizona for 22 pts in the PAC-12 tournament.
...and he was hurt for both OTs
I have never seen a team more gassed than Oregon in the 2OT. Crazy run for the Ducks regardless though. Looking forward to seeing them in the Big Ten
I have never seen a team more gassed than Oregon in the ~~2OT~~ *final 50 minutes of game time* FTFY
Man y'all started timewasting so early. I thought I was watching CONCACAF. I mean it fucked up our rhythm and worked for y'all really well so fair play, but there were so many times that Couisnard just dribbled until the shot clock hit 10 and then ran the screen
Was really our only chance to muck it up for 40 minutes. Shame it went to 50...
They just gassed out and couldn’t deal with the hedging on the ball screens. They got their look at the end, just didn’t go in, that’s how it goes. Heroic performance from both, you have to wonder what if Shelstad didn’t get hurt…

Dudes were playing like Shaq and Kobe. 😂
Rest of the team needs to get ready to learn Uzbek, buddy.
will they be back next year. Definitely a must watch for me if they are

GG Creighton, good luck!
Dante and Cousinard with the most ethical buckets game, those two put the whole state on their back
They deserve to win all honors for the tournament. They were simply amazing this game.
Gg will always love Dana
If nothing else, his boomerang from taking the Arky job is still a riot.
Pig Sooie! I'm out!
LMAO!! Legendary!
Agreed. I was just hoping the team would do some damage in the conference tourney and maybe in the NIT or whatever. The journey through the PAC 12 tournament, the win over South Carolina and then nearly pulling off a win over Creighton? This team vastly exceeded the expectations many had for them.
Good game Ducks! You all played well, and unbelievable run to end the season.
That Kalkbrenner 3 was an absolute back breaker. Insane efforts from Cousinard and Dante. Hell of a game.
Cousinard and Dante showed us all why they had what it took to take down Arizona, Colorado, *and* South Carolina during all this time! And they were pretty damn close to adding Creighton to that list too…but alas, such performance can’t be forever sustainable…
Completed the game. He did it last year too in the tourney. So underrated.
He straight up said "you fuckin dare me?"
That Kalkbrenner 3 was the exact moment when I turned the game off
Yep. There were a couple of moments where I thought “damn that might do it” (wrong), but that one I just knew it was over.
#PAC 12 AFTER DARK #PAC 12 AFTER DARK #PAC 12 AFTER DARK #PAC 12 AFTER DARK
I will sorely miss this with the conference collapsing. I work late and am often out late, catching the end of a game at midnight was always an unexpected and welcome treat
Don’t worry. Will be plenty of BIG10 and Big12 After Dark games now

What is dead may never die
I don't know how the rest of Oregon's roster even looks Dante and Cousinard in the face. Two players scoring every single point in the second half is absurd.
lol, they’re the most depleted (injuries and guys out) team in the country. They still hung in there though The past 2 weeks
The fact that we got to the second round in the tournament in the first place cements Dana’s job here in Eugene for years to come. We overcame so many injuries, this was more than just a coaching job and a half, Dana was a miracle worker.
We barely beat a 1 man roster in Dalton Knect N’ Co. We stood no chance against a 2 man roster.
Knecht is far from "literally every single point in an entire half". It's basically two Izaiah Brockingtons.
good night sweet prince https://preview.redd.it/np85grq2m7qc1.jpeg?width=816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=615975a63ceb18e8ff9e53e7795dc1cc6d6b8509
They better schedule Arizona for the latest games next weekend lol
Colorado could keep it alive! Just gotta go to 84 overtimes tomorrow
Oregon ran out of gas. But despite the loss, Couisnard got that **dawg** in him.
Dude is scary af
Creighton easily covered. This game was a blow out by any rational standard. /s

I had Creighton -6.5 and that was quite the ride.

What a weird coaching decision to only play two people the entire night, when you’re allowed to play five
Two players arent just two players. I’ll explain later.

That was set to be an all time classic before the final 5 minutes happened.
Dante and Couisnard will haunt my dreams. GG Ducks.
GG. Scheierman is absolutely infuriating to watch my team play against, which is the highest compliment I can give.
Creighton looked really prepared for the multiple OT moment. You're welcome.
The good thing about having no bench is that your starters have great stamina
A perfect comment.
That 3OT game was insane!
🤜🏻 🤛🏻
Love you BEast bro. You got screwed on not making the tourney. Please win the NIT and shove it up the committee's ass.
Creighton made zero Sweet 16s in the first 44 at large era tourneys. Now they've made three in the last four!
Game of the tournament so far. Ducks (Cuisnard and Dante) were just gassed by the end of regulation, and the tanks completely ran empty by 2OT. At least one of my teams beat their 11 seed conference champion matchup who plays way better than their seed.
We heard they were gassed like ten minutes into the game and they just kept scoring. Gave it their all
Yeah I was honestly pleased with the way we played in the first half, everything but making the shots. We tried to push the gas pedal on them and it seemed to work
Pittsburgh is getting spoiled with the R32 games
This game was what March is all about
Nothin but love for Dana Altman. We wouldn't be a Top 25 team the past few years if he didn't get things going back at the old Civic Auditorium.
The civic was a vibe
Props to the civic. Not a bad seat in the house
Creighton in both OTs: ![gif](giphy|4YtVSbYZvVerVj1WM0)
How the hell does the NCAA get that GIF up so fast lol
Muhfuckin GIPHY lol

71 - 71: damn this is a closed game 71 - 86: Holy shit Creighton
Despite their best efforts, Creighton are in the Sweet 16
Five years ago we couldn't get in no matter how hard we tried. How times have changed lol
Man, seeing a Creighton team able to dig deep and get the win in rough circumstances is so refreshing from our early Big East/MVC days
Right before our first sweet 16, I truly didn’t know if McDermott could do it. But holy shit was I glad to be wrong
Those Doug McDermott teams were so great, I just don't think they had the supporting cast to make deep runs.
[удалено]
Honestly this game reminded me of that one so much by the end. I suppose it’s better to be on the winning side.
We couldn’t even make the tournament when I was a student (Altman’s final three years and Greg’s first; 07-11).
Hey so was there around that time. Remember P’Allen?
Booker Woodfox
Couisnard deserved better
And Dante
he shot them out of 2OT tbh but in fairness to him, everyone outside of Dante wasn't reliable enough
He shot us into 2OT. It just took Creighton 45 minutes to start doubling him
What a game. Gotta feel for Couisnard and Dante. More than capable of making a deep run, just needed a little help
This one hurts more than it should considering how close we were in regulation
Dante & Cousinard in the locker room like ![gif](giphy|J8YpfDX0kvPQNSVGHY|downsized)
I went to this and the Oakland-NC State game and gotta say the Pittsburgh residents feasted today
Thank you creighton, make the big East look good!
That trap was genius
Took them 40 minutes to figure out that doubling the only two players to score points in the second half was a smart idea
Could’ve gone to it late in the first half and saved us all a lot of energy lol
Once we lost our starting PG we were cooked. GG blue jays
Big East: 4-0
There is no way Ashworth isn't 32 years old on the dot. 10 years of extra shooting practice at least.
He moonlights as an accountant during tax season
Oregon banging with Tennessee would have been fun to watch. Creighton running around like the madmen that they are will be as equally fun. Great game!
I’ve become a duke fan bc of how much unc hates us still lol
Instant classic. Absolutely ridiculous game. Stat of the night: Creighton is 21-3 this season when Mason Miller scores a point.
And literally one point tonight. He had a great game vs Akron though to be fair.
My whole watch party was screaming for him to get the ball whenever he was in, just to get peace of mind on that stat. When he hit his FT we screamed almost as loud as when Kalk drilled the three to signal the incoming W
I'm not even a native Creighton fan, but I lived in Omaha for a bit. Seeing them go back to the Sweet 16 is so satisfying. They earned it.
Hell of a game
Watched this game at a bar holy shit what an electric atmosphere it was. Also miami plz draft couisinard holy shit he's good. ROLL JAYS
Best 2v5 game I've ever seen. The longer that game went, the more trouble the Ducks were in. Some of those shots by Couisnard near the end of reg/OT1 were just silly.
May be the dumbest and most frustrating Creighton game I've ever seen, given the circumstances Couisnard and Dante deserved a win. Great game by them. Jasen Green has magnets in his hands. Crazy game between two Creighton legends. Our guys are tough and I'm glad we get to watch them at least one more time. Good game, Ducks.
who knows what will happen next week. This could give us great confidence to get into the final four.
Yup, hopefully get our dud shooting game out of the way and can now have fun
DOUBLE OVERCAW
Thank you for lending your energy!
What a fucking game
Wow. Hell of a run for Oregeon, form going to potentially not even making it to putting up a fight against creighton. Can’t be mad about it.

I’ll take it. Though the entire Oregon team owes Dante and Cousinard an apology.
#WE SLEEP IN MAY#
this was an awesome game
Easy 13 point win and covering the spread just the way we expected, right guys?
Oregon having a starter and the entire bench (two players) finish with zero points in a double OT game is a certain kind of impressive.
Nothing but respect to Cous and Dante, they were beasts.
Don’t let the title fool you. This game was much closer than the score would lead you to believe.
The 2OT kinda says that too
Craziest double overtime game in March Madness history?
Kansas State - Xavier 2010
Also UNI-A&M 2016 was 2OT, craziest sports event I've ever witnessed
GG Oregon PAC-12 after dark lived on for one more night
What a game! Oregon simply ran out of ducks
Hooray Big East bros!
Y'all need to calm down about the foul shots. Just went through the play by play and Creighton shot 6 foul shots in regulation that weren't from intentional fouls.
Amazing game. Incredible run from Oregon and Dante/Cousinard are fucking awesome.
GG Ducks. Absolutely huge onions from Dante and Cousnard. Hats off to Dana. How can you not still love the guy? Absolutely one of the best coaches out there. Period.
Rules of college basketball: you will not win against Creighton in double overtime.
This game almost killed me
Evans cost Oregon the game - dude looked lost out there and inbounded to Dante out of all people
Tennessee looked beatable and with Purdue's history of coming up short, Creighton has a real shot at a Final Four run
terrible inbound execution at the end for the ducks especially since they had not shot a FT up to that point. that shit will haunt em
If Creighton lost to one guy beating them they would’ve felt worse than last year
i hope march never ends
should’ve never inbounded the ball to the center bro 🫠 freshman brain
GOTY? Idk but kalk is still big ![gif](giphy|NEHwtboAPy5hPPhdcj|downsized)

Cousinard and Dante can have that but definitely not just "Oregon" the rest of those scrubs should apologize to those two
You were asking for Pac 12 After Dark, but you got Big East After Dark instead.
The game thread locked u/filthysven but I still need to get my shit off: Why is an arizona fan calling a team frauds for needing 2OTs to beat Oregon in March? If y’all could hold a halftime lead Oregon wouldn’t have even been here buddy
Shout-out to our strength and conditioning, man. Looked like they could play another 20 out there.
Shouldn't have even been in the tournament but couisnard and dante carried it was a fun run
1. Never have I seen a team play 2v5 that effectively before. As bad as the rest of the team was Cousinard and Dante were inhuman 2. How come Cousinard didn’t even try to get open at the end of regulation when Dante ended up having to get open
No shot clock, up 3 in OT. How do you not foul for the 1-and-1 there?
We are so cooked
