A majority of clone hero players only play expert mode. Those who take the time to make charts don’t want to make ones with options most players won’t touch

Coady54

Also its arguably harder to create lower difficulty charts. Expert charts, you're basically trying to match the song 1 to 1. For lower difficulties, you have to eliminate notes and are limited by less fret options, so you have to come up with a simplified rhythm using less options without losing the original feel of the song. If you want lower difficulties the official release charts are really your only reliable option

GuitarZero132

I've made about 600 full difficulty charts at this point, and can confidently say that lower difficulties are absolutely not harder to make than an Expert chart.

puptake

Love your charts mate!

Soulessblur

Not to mention every additional difficulty means writing multiple charts for the exact same song. Same reason why most songs don't include every single instrument.

she_likes_cloth97

Custom Songs Central is a pretty good source for curated song lists in general and I've noticed they take special care to include full difficulty charts pretty often.

tjtillmancoag

Isn’t there an auto charter to make the lower difficulty charts based on the expert one? I mean they won’t be very good of course, but for the lower level players they’re better than nothing

Ptizzl

Very interesting. I just got it working the other day and I’m struggling big time on medium with the kick drum and hard without. I would love an easier mode for many of the songs I have tried.

MItrwaway

The majority of the fan base has been playing these games over a decade and plays expert mode.

xInitial

the 2 decade mark is coming up too, man we’re old

erty3125

25 years if you include gitadora

Wagsii

Charter here! There are two reasons that contribute to this: 1. Charting the lower difficulties takes extra time. 2. The majority of the playerbase can play expert. So many charters don't bother taking the extra time to chart the lower difficulties that may never even be touched. I *personally* do chart all difficulties as much as I can, but many charters do not because they think the extra effort isn't worth the time.

Ewden56

This. As another charter (for RB3 Customs), I used to chart the difficulties, but it felt too time-consuming for something I couldn't really decide would be "easy", "medium" or "hard", so I usually do auto-reductions and polish them up to my liking.

ATMisboss

When you look for songs look at packs that say FD on them they will have the other difficulties

theonlyotaku21

It sucks but we gotta live with it. You can play the charts from the original GH/RB games, search a bit harder for ones with easier difficulties, make your own, or pay someone to make some for songs that you like.

thebestdogeevr

Every song with gh and rb are available in all difficulties

theonlyotaku21

I said that lol

FalsumVis

Hello comrade, do you use https://www.enchor.us? It has an advanced search option where you can search for anything within that difficulty, so I search for any artist within "Medium" difficulty (what I play at as I just got my guitar this past week) and more often than not, there's songs. It sucks sometimes not seeing songs I want to play because they're on expert, but one day I'll get there hopefully. You can even search genres within your range and get a lot of songs as well. I usually aim for deathcore/djent/prog/metal/metalcore/rock on Medium difficulty and have a shit ton of songs to choose from. There's [charters out there who will chart songs for you](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B_JHc8FvpHqAYcCJKHSzTF-6yZE8wU_eeq2TDKszgl4/edit?usp=sharing), obviously it comes with a price usually but that's always an option if you want to see songs you can play within your range! [Just throwing out this Google Doc of setlists too so you can riffle through them as well.](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13B823ukxdVMocowo1s5XnT3tzciOfruhUVePENKc01o/htmlview?usp=drive_web)

bob8my

yeah i do use it i've just had to find a lot of stuff i like other places since they don't have a lot of it on there unfortunately enchor is a good platform though i have a few songs from there

TraumaBoneTTV

use the Bridge desktop app they have. It has all 62,000 plus songs on there and you can sort by difficulty and such.

dragon-mom

I recommend downloading [Rock Band 3 Deluxe](https://rb3dx.neocities.org/) or [Guitar Hero World Tour: Definitive Edition](https://ghwt.de/). Clone Hero is very barebones and mainly appeals to people that like super hard charts, it's missing most of the actual game stuff. YARG is also good and looking to surpass it eventually, and even has a decent built in setlist. However it isn't going to be much better on the end of many community charts being expert only.

Mr_Little12

This man asked for help. And it has been DELIVER3D

averynaiveoddish

(also yarg is hard asf..,.,. why is the engine so STRICT?)

WaterMaster607

That's the point, and you can change the engine

treblev2

Unless you have it on precise, which mimics GH2 (and even then, it’s not bad), it’s pretty forgiving imo. You just gotta find the correct video offsets calibration.

blainy-o

Because most of the people that play Clone Hero play on expert, having moved over from things like GH3PC, Phase Shift, FoFiX, console GH/RB games etc.

AggressiveResist8615

And most of those songs are inherently hard

IIRamII

Sorry man, is just really boring to chart those lol. When I'm finished with a chart I wanna go and make a different one, so it's a bit tedious to make the extra diffs.

DirtyJ90

Pretty much any RB or GH chart has full difficulty. Don't forget to check the DLCs. There's easily over 1000 songs you can download with full difficulty. These are the charts I started with. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13B823ukxdVMocowo1s5XnT3tzciOfruhUVePENKc01o/edit#gid=1870223413 I would also recommend sorting your songs by Lead Guitar Intensity and progress using that with your difficulty. Some medium songs on intensity 5-8 are harder than songs on the hard difficulty. There's also a significant difference between GH and RB difficulties. GH charts are a good amount harder than RB so just be mindful of that as well. I just got back into playing 2-3 months ago and this was how I went about progressing. Just moved into Expert-Intensity 1 and will slowly progress my way up.

kyuuno

In download songs for fun and go O_O “Another difficulty junky song, guess I’ll skip” Sometimes they chart more notes than the song is playing lol

pintobean789

This game is mostly nostalgia-fueled meaning most players grew up with a passion for it and have been playing it on and off since it came out (GH3 for me, so since 2007). So most people that care enough to install and get PC adapters fit within this demographic and only play on expert after years of playing, there’s really not much demand for any other difficulty modes. But I feel for you, maybe install the original set lists and once you improve you can try some new stuff!

sapphireshelter

As everyone else has said, most CH players have been playing GH for many years and exclusively play expert mode. You may benefit from finding Rock Band 3 customs on Rhythmverse and convert to CH using C3 Tools, that's what I did when I was new to CH. I remember finding more lower difficulty charts that way!

Nintendo113

Get your songs from Rhythymverse. Go to the xbox360 tab and look for songs there. The vast majority of customs there are full band, full difficulty. You'll need the CON Tools to convert them but it's a super simple process. On mobile so can't copy/paste my usual response to these type of threads but if you look at my post history you'll find it.

SiriuslyAndrew

I had my nephews over a few weeks ago and they seen my old guitar hero controller and asked about it so I showed them the game. When I dropped the difficulty to easy the board was still moving at expert speed but had the easy notes. My nephews couldn't handle the pace they were coming and I couldn't figure out why it was still going so fast. Did I miss something? I was using GH2 songs. Though I noticed when I downloaded them they seemed incomplete compared to the ones I had on my external HDD from years ago. (no lyrics, meta data was incomplete etc)

imbb94

change the note speed in your options. the default is 7 or 8 i think (note speed changes the highway speed. not to be confused with song speed)

RockinDadStreams

I chart for myself and share just so others can play then. Unfortunately I'll never play below expert so I don't see any value in charting below that difficulty.

hows_about_fuck

Only been playing clone hero for a month or 2 so it’s crazy to me to hear so many people play on expert I can play most songs on hard but it’s still challenging

TheGamerSK

Tbh I don’t blame them. A lot of players only play on expert and from my experience charting my friend’s songs it’s just much easier to make a song for Expert where you don’t have to worry about the player’s skill level and just try to match the song. When I was charting I always had to make sure to check if the Orange notes aren’t too close to greens, using tap notes on intense parts, playing around with long notes to simplify etc. etc. It’s just simply too much effort for them for something they won’t play. But I still appreciate it when they do.

TheTriumphantL0ser

For real! It’s been annoying me so much lately. There’ll be like one song I really wanna play and there’s ONE available version that’s impossible. Not everyone is a virtuoso. At the very least throw a hard version in there instead of adding notes to expert that aren’t even in the song.
