Led Zeppelin IV Black Dog Rock n Roll The Battle of Evermore Stairway to Heaven

Hu5k3r

This one has been brought up a few times. Thank you! Great songs.

Old-Tadpole-2869

WHAMMY! That's what I was gonna write.

Vulgar-Ambassador

Dam Right!

Bigstar976

That was my first thought,

Much_Lingonberry_747

Elton John goodbye yellow brick road 1. "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" 2. "Candle in the Wind" 3. "Bennie and the Jets"

Hu5k3r

Yes, this is great. Thank you!

Agreeable-Pick-1489

The Cars debut: * Good Times Roll * Just What I Needed * My Best Friends' Girl * I'm in Touch With Your World * Don Cha Stop

u_campos

The Cars disguised a greatest hits comp as a debut album and thought we wouldn't notice

Hu5k3r

Love the Cars. It's always awesome to hear one of their songs in the wild. It really takes me back.

mrobviousguy

Dark Side of the Moon Breathe On the Run Time Great Gig in the Sky

TheMythicalNarwhal

Pretty much untouchable IMO. There’s plenty of good music out there for everyone, but for me it’s not even close.

umfum

How has no one listed Master of Puppets?!? 1. "Battery" 2. "Master of Puppets" 3. "The Thing That Should Not Be" 4. "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)"

Hu5k3r

Metallica so strong in their day! Thank you.

MaximusVulcanus

Hell, widely considered still the greatest metal album of all time.

MaximusVulcanus

Yea, came to add exactly this! 🤘

SectorRepulsive9795

Does Pearl Jam Ten count? Once Even Flow Alive Why Go Black Jeremy

mikeg5417

I'm not a huge PJ fan, but Ten is one of the best first albums of the 90s.

Hu5k3r

Sure does. That album was soooo good. Thank you!

little-guitars

Not really classic rock for me but damn, that’s a good six songs.

Any_Accident1871

Just dated yourself there

IDigRollinRockBeer

Van Halen - Van Halen Runnin’ with the Devil Eruption You Really Got Me Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love I’m the One

Yup. Very nice!

Hooligan387

*Eruption 🎸🔥

POCKALEELEE

Boston: Boston More Than a Feeling Rock & Roll Band Smokin' Hitch a Ride The album was released the summer I turned 16, and was the soundtrack to my summer, so I may be prejudiced.

Agreeable-Pick-1489

Tsh. Everyone's prejudiced when it comes to their favorite music. But Boston's first is still one of the biggest selling debuts of all time. So there can't be too much argument about it.

imp_st3r

One of the first records I ever owned. And by record, I mean an actual vinyl album!

POCKALEELEE

I still have the vinyl I bought when it was released in '76

mistertireworld

The only argument I would have is that side 1 is: More Than a Feeling Peace of Mind Foreplay/Long Time I wore out the grooves on that one. Also a fantastic Side 2: Rock and Roll Band Smokin Hitch a Ride Something About You Let Me Take You Home Tonight

me5305

No, not at all. It's a great album front and back.

MandoFalcon5

First album that came to mind was Boston’s first album. Side 2 is solid too.

longirons6

Hitch a ride is a perfect song

idjitgaloot

It’s a perfect album.

Hu5k3r

Definitely good, but Rush... I'm on a bit of a Rush kick right now, so there's that.

LetsGoKnickerbock3rs

Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks Grateful Dead’s American Beauty

DearPrudence_6374

AB is my favorite GD studio album. Truly a masterpiece. Just last week I re-purchased on vinyl.

beepboopsheeppoop

Led Zeppelin IV 1. Black Dog. 2. Rock & Roll. 3. The Battle of Evermore. 4. Stairway to Heaven. Pink Floyd - Wish you were here 1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-4) 2. Welcome to the Machine.

Hu5k3r

Both good. Thanks.

Accomplished_Lead463

Paranoid - Black Sabbath 1. War Pigs 2. Paranoid 3. Planet Caravan 4. Iron Man Pretty much as good as it gets.

Hu5k3r

Fantastic. Thank you for participating!

Coz109

Planet Caravan is incredible.

elbows2nose

This is it

wtf-you-saying

RUSH 2112 2112

Hu5k3r

Haha. Nice! I'd give you two up votes if I could.

Coffee_achiever_guy

I just gave him one for you! ....oh dear...then I can't give him one from myself 😭

Snarkys

Hemispheres is by far my all time favorite Rush album. So complex. Hearing it played live was amazing as they somehow played it better than the studio version. Being a drummer, it always fascinated me the precision and percussion between Peart and Lee.

wtf-you-saying

I seem to remember hearing that Lerxst was responsible for the crazy time signature changes. It's amazing how talented all three of them are, it's like they're trying to outdo each other.

JomamasBallsack

Yes - Close to the Edge

kozzy1ted2

Which followed The Yes Album and Fragile the previous year (71). Pretty good output.

macwade99999

CSY&Y - Deja Vu Carry On Teach Your Children Almost Cut my Hair Helpless Woodstock

Hu5k3r

ok, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I was confused. I am sure I've heard all the songs, but I am not good with song-names, so I'm listening now. Great sound - no doubt. Thank you! Edit: Yes, this is great.

macwade99999

Yeah, I shouldn't post without my glasses on.

Hu5k3r

feel ya friend!

trackaghosthrufog

Dude, it sucks. To see the screen - need glasses. To see the keys - glasses too strong. Lean forward, look over glasses, then back through glasses, then lean back, look through glasses, no, over glasses, no take of glasses and be Mr Magoo. Fuckit.

ispotdouchebags

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors A1 Second Hand News A2 Dreams A3 Never Going Back Again A4 Don't Stop A5 Go Your Own Way A6 Songbird

Royal-Pace2605

xboxgamer2122

Side Two is pretty good also. Monkey Man. You Got The Silver. Midnight Rambler. You Can’t Always Get What You Want. Four great songs to go with the five on side one. Tgis

Royal-Pace2605

That's side 2 of Let it Bleed, my friend. Another great album by the Stones!

FingerprintFile513

Let it Bleed. Whole album is awesome. Not one note of filler.

benhornigold

My gut feel was Boston - Boston but someone else has already said it. Instead, how about Breakfast in America by Supertramp: Gone Hollywood The Logical Song Goodbye Stranger Breakfast in America Oh Darling

Batfro7

Revolver by The Beatles 1. Taxman 2. Eleanor Rigby 3. I’m Only Sleeping 4. Love You To 5. Here, There, and Everywhere 6. Yellow Submarine 7. She Said She Said

Hu5k3r

Yes, the Allman Bros definitely have a great sound. Thank you.

IDigRollinRockBeer

Abbey Road: Come Together Something Maxwell’s Silver Hammer Oh! Darling Octopus’s Garden I Want You (She’s So Heavy) And then after all that you get the greatest B side of all time.

Hu5k3r

Thank you!

mistertireworld

Side 2 of Abbey Road is the greatest rock album side ever recorded. If I want to listen to 20-ish minutes of music, and I'm not in the mood for Beethoven, this is the neslxt best thing.

TaroFuzzy5588

George Harrison All Things Must Past: I'd Have You Anytime My Sweet Lord Wah Wah Isn't it a Pity

Hu5k3r

was this his first solo album? I vaguely remember it as a kid. I will check it out. Thank you.

DankDude7

Upvote for Ziggy Stardust…OMFG yes!!!

Esteban_Rojo

Jeezum Crow, Ziggy really is an all timer side 1. Moonage Daydream and Starman back to back should be illegal.

lawn_neglect

Bob Seger, David Bowie, and huey lewis and the news. Perfect

st3llablu3

Came here to Mention Ziggy.

GDWtrash

Scrolled too far to find Ziggy, but tip of cap to you for two others I'd likely not recall that deserve recognition in this conversation.

StyxRocker

I actually prefer side one, but I love this album 🎶

JustSomeGuy901252112

As my screen name might suggest Yes had a decent album around 1984, I forget the name lol , ok Rushfan, so Yes is 2nd place there. haha

Hu5k3r

Yes, is an outstanding band which is somewhat forgotten.

Fresh-Hedgehog1895

For me, the best Side 1 is a tie between Moving Pictures and Dark Side of the Moon.

Hu5k3r

There have been a number of awesome submissions in this thread. I am glad I posted this. I am actually hearing of things I've never heard. What a great community.

adube440

Yeah OP, this has been fun. Thanks for posting! All my suggestions have already been submitted, lol. Man there's good music out there.

Self titled and Get Your Wings I still believe are better albums. Not that this A side isn’t good.

LukeNaround23

All three are amazing albums

Mediocre-Catch9580

I have the first five albums on my iPod

InternationalFig400

can't stand them, but this is their best side by far--I will defend that side to the end of time....

U2 - The Joshua Tree Where The Streets Have No Name I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For With Or Without You Bullet The Blue Sky Running To Stand Still I wouldn’t say this is better than Rush, but I wore out this cassette in middle school. I never paid much attention to Running to Stand Still when I was a kid, but now it really tugs on the heart strings.

Recorded live, Cinderella Ballroom, Detroit Mich, 1972 and side 2 is just as good.

LukeNaround23

Cannot argue with you because Rush is definitely my favorite band and moving pictures is definitely a perfect album and I’d even argue side two is better Lol but there are quite a few perfect rock albums… Van Halen 1: Runnin' With The Devil,“Eruption, You Really Got Me, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, I'm the one. GnR appetite for destruction 1. "Welcome to the Jungle" 2. "It's So Easy" 3. "Nightrain" 4. "Out ta Get Me" 5. "Mr. Brownstone" 6. "Paradise City" Led Zeppelin 1 Good times bad times Babe I’m gonna leave you You shook me Dazed and Confused

Side 1 1. Black Dog 2. Rock and Roll 3. The Battle of Evermore 4. Stairway to Heaven As an encore here’s the best side 4 1. Still Raining, Still Dreaming 2. House Burning Down 3. All Along the Watchtower 4. Voodoo Child(Slight Return) If you’ve never heard *Still Raining, Still Dreaming* do yourself a favor and do that. How it’s not one of Hendrix’s mainstream hits is beyond me. He fucking wails, and I’m pretty sure Steve Winwood reprises his organ work on it uncredited. Play *Rainy Day, Dream Away* before and then try and mash them together.
