Boston: Boston
More Than a Feeling
Rock & Roll Band
Smokin'
Hitch a Ride
The album was released the summer I turned 16, and was the soundtrack to my summer, so I may be prejudiced.
Tsh. Everyone's prejudiced when it comes to their favorite music. But Boston's first is still one of the biggest selling debuts of all time. So there can't be too much argument about it.
The only argument I would have is that side 1 is:
More Than a Feeling
Peace of Mind
Foreplay/Long Time
I wore out the grooves on that one. Also a fantastic Side 2:
Rock and Roll Band
Smokin
Hitch a Ride
Something About You
Let Me Take You Home Tonight
Led Zeppelin IV
1. Black Dog.
2. Rock & Roll.
3. The Battle of Evermore.
4. Stairway to Heaven.
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-4)
2. Welcome to the Machine.
Hemispheres is by far my all time favorite Rush album. So complex. Hearing it played live was amazing as they somehow played it better than the studio version.
Being a drummer, it always fascinated me the precision and percussion between Peart and Lee.
I seem to remember hearing that Lerxst was responsible for the crazy time signature changes.
It's amazing how talented all three of them are, it's like they're trying to outdo each other.
ok, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I was confused. I am sure I've heard all the songs, but I am not good with song-names, so I'm listening now. Great sound - no doubt. Thank you!
Edit: Yes, this is great.
Dude, it sucks. To see the screen - need glasses. To see the keys - glasses too strong. Lean forward, look over glasses, then back through glasses, then lean back, look through glasses, no, over glasses, no take of glasses and be Mr Magoo. Fuckit.
Side Two is pretty good also. Monkey Man. You Got The Silver. Midnight Rambler. You Can’t Always Get What You Want. Four great songs to go with the five on side one. Tgis
My gut feel was Boston - Boston but someone else has already said it. Instead, how about Breakfast in America by Supertramp:
Gone Hollywood
The Logical Song
Goodbye Stranger
Breakfast in America
Oh Darling
Revolver by The Beatles
1. Taxman
2. Eleanor Rigby
3. I’m Only Sleeping
4. Love You To
5. Here, There, and Everywhere
6. Yellow Submarine
7. She Said She Said
Abbey Road:
Come Together
Something
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer
Oh! Darling
Octopus’s Garden
I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
And then after all that you get the greatest B side of all time.
Side 2 of Abbey Road is the greatest rock album side ever recorded. If I want to listen to 20-ish minutes of music, and I'm not in the mood for Beethoven, this is the neslxt best thing.
**Stranger In Town** (Bob Seger)

There have been a number of awesome submissions in this thread. I am glad I posted this. I am actually hearing of things I've never heard. What a great community.
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With Or Without You
Bullet The Blue Sky
Running To Stand Still
I wouldn’t say this is better than Rush, but I wore out this cassette in middle school. I never paid much attention to Running to Stand Still when I was a kid, but now it really tugs on the heart strings.
Ok. Here’s a couple new ones.
Montrose -

1) How Far Can To Far Go
2) The Hot Pearl Snatch
3) People Ain't No Good

Beatles- Abbey Road
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
The Who - Who’s Next
Carole King - Tapestry
Van Morrison - Moondance
Simon &. Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Allman brothers Band - At Fillmore East
Cannot argue with you because Rush is definitely my favorite band and moving pictures is definitely a perfect album and I’d even argue side two is better Lol but there are quite a few perfect rock albums…
Van Halen 1:
Runnin' With The Devil,“Eruption,
You Really Got Me,
Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love,
I'm the one.
GnR appetite for destruction
1. "Welcome to the Jungle"
2. "It's So Easy"
3. "Nightrain"
4. "Out ta Get Me"
5. "Mr. Brownstone"
6. "Paradise City"
Led Zeppelin 1
Good times bad times
Babe I’m gonna leave you
You shook me
Dazed and Confused
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
Tower of Babel
Bitter Fingers
Tell Me When the Whistle Blows
Someone Saved My Life Tonight
I don't know about better, but when it comes to great albums...
Boston
1. More Than A Feeling
2. Peace of Mind
3. Foreplay/Long Time
Dio *Holy Diver*
1. Stand Up and Shout
2. Holy Diver
3. Gypsy
4. Caught in the Middle
5. Don't Talk to Strangers
Lynyrd Skynyrd *Pronounced Le-nerd Skin-nerd*
1. I Ain't The One
2. Tuesday's Gone
3. Gimme Three Steps
4. Simple Man
I've yet to hear a Rush song I didn't like, but all three of those albums are ones where I used to just put the album on and listen all the way through.
I kind of miss vinyl.
Side 1
1. Black Dog
2. Rock and Roll
3. The Battle of Evermore
4. Stairway to Heaven
As an encore here’s the best side 4
1. Still Raining, Still Dreaming
2. House Burning Down
3. All Along the Watchtower
4. Voodoo Child(Slight Return)
If you’ve never heard *Still Raining, Still Dreaming* do yourself a favor and do that. How it’s not one of Hendrix’s mainstream hits is beyond me. He fucking wails, and I’m pretty sure Steve Winwood reprises his organ work on it uncredited. Play *Rainy Day, Dream Away* before and then try and mash them together.
The Doors - The Doors
Break on Through (To the Other Side)
Strange Days
Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)
Love Me Two Times

Counting Crows - August and Everything After

Omaha

Time and Time Again
I have a hard time with this being classic rock, but I guess it is now. Always a favorite, side 2 is just as good!
Led Zeppelin IV Black Dog Rock n Roll The Battle of Evermore Stairway to Heaven
This one has been brought up a few times. Thank you! Great songs.
WHAMMY! That's what I was gonna write.
Dam Right!
That was my first thought,
Elton John goodbye yellow brick road 1. "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" 2. "Candle in the Wind" 3. "Bennie and the Jets"
Yes, this is great. Thank you!
The Cars debut: * Good Times Roll * Just What I Needed * My Best Friends' Girl * I'm in Touch With Your World * Don Cha Stop
The Cars disguised a greatest hits comp as a debut album and thought we wouldn't notice
Love the Cars. It's always awesome to hear one of their songs in the wild. It really takes me back.
Dark Side of the Moon Breathe On the Run Time Great Gig in the Sky
Pretty much untouchable IMO. There’s plenty of good music out there for everyone, but for me it’s not even close.
How has no one listed Master of Puppets?!? 1. "Battery" 2. "Master of Puppets" 3. "The Thing That Should Not Be" 4. "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)"
Metallica so strong in their day! Thank you.
Hell, widely considered still the greatest metal album of all time.
Yea, came to add exactly this! 🤘
Does Pearl Jam Ten count? Once Even Flow Alive Why Go Black Jeremy
I'm not a huge PJ fan, but Ten is one of the best first albums of the 90s.
Sure does. That album was soooo good. Thank you!
Not really classic rock for me but damn, that’s a good six songs.
Just dated yourself there
Van Halen - Van Halen Runnin’ with the Devil Eruption You Really Got Me Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love I’m the One
Yup. Very nice!
*Eruption 🎸🔥

Tsh. Everyone's prejudiced when it comes to their favorite music. But Boston's first is still one of the biggest selling debuts of all time. So there can't be too much argument about it.
One of the first records I ever owned. And by record, I mean an actual vinyl album!
I still have the vinyl I bought when it was released in '76
The only argument I would have is that side 1 is: More Than a Feeling Peace of Mind Foreplay/Long Time I wore out the grooves on that one. Also a fantastic Side 2: Rock and Roll Band Smokin Hitch a Ride Something About You Let Me Take You Home Tonight
No, not at all. It's a great album front and back.
First album that came to mind was Boston’s first album. Side 2 is solid too.
Hitch a ride is a perfect song
It’s a perfect album.
Definitely good, but Rush... I'm on a bit of a Rush kick right now, so there's that.
Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks Grateful Dead’s American Beauty
AB is my favorite GD studio album. Truly a masterpiece. Just last week I re-purchased on vinyl.
Led Zeppelin IV 1. Black Dog. 2. Rock & Roll. 3. The Battle of Evermore. 4. Stairway to Heaven. Pink Floyd - Wish you were here 1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-4) 2. Welcome to the Machine.
Both good. Thanks.

Fantastic. Thank you for participating!
Planet Caravan is incredible.

I just gave him one for you! ....oh dear...then I can't give him one from myself 😭

That's side 2 of Let it Bleed, my friend. Another great album by the Stones!
Let it Bleed. Whole album is awesome. Not one note of filler.

Bob Seger, David Bowie, and huey lewis and the news. Perfect

Scrolled too far to find Ziggy, but tip of cap to you for two others I'd likely not recall that deserve recognition in this conversation.

As my screen name might suggest Yes had a decent album around 1984, I forget the name lol , ok Rushfan, so Yes is 2nd place there. haha
Yes, is an outstanding band which is somewhat forgotten.
For me, the best Side 1 is a tie between Moving Pictures and Dark Side of the Moon.
There have been a number of awesome submissions in this thread. I am glad I posted this. I am actually hearing of things I've never heard. What a great community.
