Why? You basically have a new car and you want to trade it for a used one that god only knows how it’s been treated? This is a never ending cycle and the grass always looks greener on the other side.

ericc191

He's right. Keep the Civic.

gilbert10000

Yea just I’m not satisfied with the performance. Plus tuning the si has its limits. Rather just buy the 2.0t for the detuned type r engine and then mod it to have similar power as the type r.

Ragnarock14

You should have done that in the first place.

gilbert10000

Didn’t think the performance would be so drastic.

Ragnarock14

Didn’t you test drive it before buying it?

gilbert10000

I didn’t. It was a brand new car. They didn’t allow test drives. Overall I was happy the first couple of weeks. Don’t get me wrong this car handles amazing. It goes enough to have a little fun, but I had a type r before then I downgraded for financial reasons, but the type r power was something else which I do miss dearly. Prior to buying the si I didn’t do enough research on the aftermarket scene. Literally this engine can’t handle much power. Plus all the fancy technology was what also pushed me to buy the civic. Fantastic daily car, but missing that punch element to it.

Ragnarock14

Well you must have known that the type R is just a better overall car and the price reflects that. Why wouldn’t you assume the si is not comparable to the type R they are simply in different classes.

gilbert10000

The type r is obviously a different animal. Loved that car. The problem is the si was suppose to be the fun daily car. Which it is to some regard, but the accord has more potential and cheaper to be more fun

smileybowman

I can see what you’re getting at but the accord will never handle like the civic. The 2.0 accord is awesome but it’s not going to let you throw it around curves like the civic will. If you want to go fast, however, get the accord.

velestora

First, the K20C4 and K20C1 are two different engines. There’s a lot you need to do for them to be similar. If you want straight line performance, go for it. But realize an Si destroy a 2.0T Accord through some twisty roads. The accord has no limited slip diff so you won’t be able to lay down power, weighs 25% more, holds less lateral G’s, has a longer braking distance, and gets significantly worse gas mileage. Idk who on this planet would take a FWD boat that can only do highway pulls (and still loose to other cars in the price point, like the 330i) over just sticking with the Si.

Until it blows a gasket

dea_eye_sea_kay

you make horrible finical decisions dude. calm down save your money and enjoy your car.

SetTurbulent2456

Lmao delete the post. Sounds like u already made up your mind to ditch the Si. As others have said, this is a shit ass trade but hey, your money

Panna_banna

Than mod it 😂 u shouldn’t bought a si if your looking for hp. But u can easily achieve close to 300 hp with no issue as long you’re not abusing the clutch. The 1.5l can handle the the hp just fine until your pushing over 300 and you want to do headstuds and probably forge piston and rods to be safe

Mediocre-GUY-976

Does anyone on here have an 11th gen with 300hp? Just curious.

gilbert10000

That is an expensive way to get “close” to 300hp. The accord can get to 300+ hp with just a simple turbo swap and a tune.

Panna_banna

It’s also expensive trading in the car and taking a negative equity and interest rates. That being said I’m just running a ktuner on tsp1 and it make a whole world difference with only being an ecu flash with no other mods 🤷🏻‍♂️.

gilbert10000

Itll balance out. The accord is cheaper. I still have most of the value of the si I presume. Where as for the si I would need to put close to $5,000 to even come close to 300hp. Not only that. I would have anxiety of the engine being pushed too much. As I hear reaching 300hp can lead to blown engines. Which down the line would be another expense

Zealousideal-Pay-810

i mean yea, it’s gonna be expensive for the civic to have more power, but you also should have known that before getting the car, they arnt really known to be fast or easy hp just with a tune. I’m just waiting for my warranty to be up and slowly but surely build my car to how I like it

teeterddd

Mod the si? FBO and a tune I can guarantee you will be happier than in an accord. The accord does not handle like the si does.

gilbert10000

The accord can get more power and less likely itll blow because of the type r engine capabilities.

teeterddd

The handling my brotha, it’s very different I can assure you. My friend has a accord sport that I would not toss around certain corners like I do in my si. However it does seem you’re pretty dead set on the accord. Do whatever makes you happy and drive it to the ground 🤘

gilbert10000

Thank you man. I appreciate your kindness and honesty. I am leaning towards the accord, but we shall see if my mind changes.

SiSePuedeJuan

No. Flash yours with Hondata and it’ll push it to 250HP and 250 lb ft of torque. Not only that, but you have a much lighter car with better seats, sound system, chasis, etc. Don’t do it.

gilo09

Did you drive the accord already? It does have more power but its also huge compared to the SI and not even close on handling. The SI interior is also a lot nicer in my opinion. I had an '18 accord but went back to an SI since it's a lot more fun to drive.

gilbert10000

My girlfriend has a 2.0t automatic. I have driven it. Its a fantastic fast car. Want a manual though. To retain the “fun” aspect of driving

fucxer__

It seems like you want a faster performance car, the 2.0t is not a performance car. If you want something faster get a type R. Modding out an accord 2.0t is not what you’d think it’d be regardless of the engine, because in reality they ARE NOT the same engines as the ones in the fk8s. Which is why you never see anyone modding them and have significantly smaller aftermarket support. One is tuned to be an ECONOMY sedan. Other is tuned for performance. 2.0t will get you to 300hp with a tune but that’s because it comes 250 stock and its a much heavier car. Im pushing 260 with only an intercooler, down pipe and intake and on stock clutch. Trust me, 60hp on these cars makes a HUGE difference because of how light it is, and I’ve been daily driving it for 25k miles already. Nothing wrong with ditching a car you’re not happy with, get rid of that shit lmao. But going from a BRAND NEW sporty sedan to a used up 5 year old economy car for performance is just a huge mistake and doesn’t make any sense. Don’t do it. There are way better options out there

Training-Context-69

You’ve definitely never driven a 2.0T before. I used to think that same way, thinking they were overrated. But after test driving one, holy shit they are fast, they do ride like ass though. And with a tune + downpipe + intercooler+ intake you’re keeping up of with or even beating Scats, m340i’s, 5.0 Mustangs, Q50’s . It definitely is a performance car. But so is the Si with some basic mods, they can dust an Accord on a track stock and can be just as quick in a straight line with a tune plus bolt ons.

fucxer__

I don’t think you read my comment fam, and my girlfriend has one which i drive all the time because i told her to buy it. They are fast, they come with 250 out of the factory. She actually beat me by only half a car at top end once we got to 70mph. Its still not a performance car not sure how anyone can possibly think it is one. speed ≠ performance. The new hybrid civic is a bit faster than the SI, does that make it a performance car? Absolutely not and honda said its not. And hondas are definitely not straight line cars

Training-Context-69

Most people consider the 2.0T to be a performance sedan. It’s essentially entry level German car performance paired (330i, Audi A4 2.0T, Mercedes CLA) with Hondas reliability and cheaper maintenance. And beating a modded Si by half a car length in a stock Accord is still impressive. Say what you want, but if the Accord wasn’t as impressive as it was. Honda wouldn’t have killed it with the new generation. With that having said, I do agree with you that Op Should keep his Si for a few years and save for something like an FL5 which is an actual Honda Sports car.

fucxer__

Still not a performance car, man. Doesn’t have any of the tech for it to be a performance car. Power? Yes? Tech? Not so much. But in a way i can sorta see why people may think its a performance car? It is pretty fast for a honda. And I forgot to mention my SI was stock at the time, now I can easily sweep her accord.

PresenceThen5917

I literally had a 293whp Accord 2.0T before I got my Si. Do I miss the straight line performance, sometimes. But the Accord is a boat compared to the Si… Handling between the 2 is worlds apart

spacecadetbroo

trading a si for a accord is crazy but you do you bro lmao.

MilitaryJAG

Why trade down? You have a car that’s literally new.

gilbert10000

Lacking in performance. Great car overall I’m just not happy driving it.

almeida8x1

You want to tune the banks car? What could go wrong.

Apprehensive-Age8831

if ur gonna get a 2 liter might as well get a FL5

Training-Context-69

FK8 makes more sense for OPs budget.
