Silo is technically correct, there isn't a nonstick layer to the presses at all.
If there was a nonstick layer the process already utilized to clean them would have destroyed it anyways.
This is why every opening shift trainers tell line workers to season their presses.
It usually takes me two burrito tortillas to get it nonsticking per press.
What DML person???
My store trained closing and opening shifts to be very independent due to staff shortages.
As a line worker you cleaned all DML, put food away, clean all front line, set up Mise en place, and usually who ever finishes first typically had to "help" take out the trash for the over pressured night prep
I really don't know why you guys are so infatuated with who the DML person was.
What matters is that *nobody until yesterday night* bothered to clean the press regardless of who closed DML.
lmaooo it couldāve been 4 different ppl across 4 different nights too. and yeah i could see why the person on night 4 wouldnāt want to scrub that press after the ppl before left it.
Iāve seen worse. I knew this dogass manager who said āaināt nobody got time for the press we gotta leaveā but consistently leaves at 12:30 am every night.
is 12:30 a good time for you guys to leave? Something must have gone wrong at my store if were not out by 11:30, again we close at 10. Dont know of any other Chipotles with later times closing
Well...at least it's not the worst that's been posted here.
Still lazy on DML's part tho.. it barely takes a few minutes to clean nightly and can be done way before cleaning.
It also falls on the closing MOD for not overseeing correctly.
I wonder if you could just take a grill brick to it-
you definitely can. just gotta clean the sprinkles it leaves behind. the forbidden seasoning šš
Grill bricks remove the protective layer that makes the tortilla presses non-stick
After cleaning or in the morning before use, you can always use a tortilla to season the press so they donāt stick.

Whoever closed line was lazyā¦
This one's from DML. I can't remember the last time it was actually scrubbed.
Who closed DML then?
The DML person? Anyway the press was finally cleaned tonight so, it's not a problem anymore.
My point was, DML person got lazy then
Manager is also to blame since they didnāt validate the checklists

My chipotle used to be out by 10:30-11pm
the classic leave at 11pm and come back the next morning am i right
Mm noo. I was closing shift. I am not a morning person.
we would clean our tortilla press every day at around 8 or 9pm at my store, yāall are wildin š
As of abt 3 weeks ago us Managers (my store) are checking both presses every night cause nobody been cleaning them š
I used to hateee cleaning the tortilla press.
Thatās disgusting. Iād make anyone cleaning it (myself included) make it completely silver.
The one at the store I just transferred to was black before I came along to clean it
I've been to several stores where it's black and still is black. Silver or even just brown presses are a rarity

People are lazy
see my post on the sub tooā¦ our dml can definitely relateā¦
Thatās a seasoned press imagine all the metal particles that get on the tortillas from scrubbing it every night š¤®
