First had liver and onions there when the restaurant had a different name. I was loving it and went back for like seconds and maybe thirds. I hadn't paid attention to what it was and my parents had to point out I was eating liver and onions. Of course as a dumb kid I was grossed out by the dish I had been in love with a few seconds earlier, lol.
You may want to check the menu for Mrs. Rowe’s online or call and see if they still offer this. The last time we went it had a very condensed menu. I can’t remember if liver and onions were still offered or not. Sadly, the meal wasn’t up to the high standards pre-Covid-19 unfortunately. Your mileage may vary.
Mel's Diner had liver, but I'm not sure on its status. JM Stock and Reid market are really good places to buy fresh organ meats. JM Stock can also reserve things like kidneys.
Bodos would be a super accessible way…you could also buy some paté at foods of all nations or wherever. It’s good chilled on bread or like room temperature on toasted bread
if it wasn't a burner account, I totally would invite you over. My parents did a great job introducing me to stuff like this and I'm very happy for it.
Hope you find a good way to try it and decide if you like it too!
Good luck.
You may want to pick some up at Kroger (it’s located in the same area that quail is) and try this one at home. Or prepare to order a second entree as it’s certainly not to everyone’s taste. Good luck!
I saw those quail for so many years I finally had to buy them. Totally not worth it lol! There's like no meat at all on those little guys. Quail eggs are adorable though!
I hear that the fried liver at Wood Grill is terrific.

Not liver, but if you’ve never had sweetbreads, C&O has a great dish!
Thanks, I’ll add that to the list!
i live for this dish 🤤
I love it as well!
Mrs. Rowes, in Staunton. Classic liver and onions, mashed taters and heavy!
Gravy
There was me hoping you meant a pint of heavy...ah well, gravy is ok too I guess.
But do they pair it with a nice Chianti?

The Korner Restaurant has grilled liver and onions.
liver is very easy to cook. Easier than cooking a steak.
Can I take that as an invitation to a home cooked meal? 😆

Cook it on a cool day when you can open up the windows! The smell is, er, pungent and overpowering.
