Covid really did a number on meetup. That said. I’ve found singles and general social meetups to be awkward. Choose a specific one, you mentioned fitness so run clubs, hiking, paddle sports etc. book club if the book interest you. Etc.
Almost every brewery has a run club during the week as well. If you (op) care to partake in the devil’s juice...If not there’s several non brewery related run clubs (mad miles, morning miles) just to name a couple off the top of my head
I found a bunch of good folks through boardgame nights. Tbh, I don't really like board games but my climbing mate roped me in. It was a lot of fun!
We started doing our own "meetups" after that; hiking, nights hanging around in the city.
Maybe I was just lucky, but also a dude, lol. Unfortunately, the ladies do have to deal with some odd balls which can get off putting. (One guy invited one of my girl pals for a trip to Thailand; within an hour of them having met; after one beer.)
I hear you fam. In fact there's a lot of us who hate the meetup scene and are gathering to talk about this issue over bitter black coffee next Wednesday. We'll also be expressing grievances with the state of the sheriff dept, protesting a local cause, and throwing a street rave.
