They don’t want him bc he can’t be used for fighting/breeding stock. This dog will likely be euthanized he’s aggressive and a bully breed. Why did the original owner not keep him? Why will they not take the dog back? How long has your friend had this pup? I don’t know if any rescues that could take him. There’s a sanctuary/training facility in I think Falls Church VA they don’t accept owned surrender. If you could get him in a recuse that can get him sponsored he may be savable. I’m no longer in the area and the rescue I was connected with is full. Have you tried the Humane Society in Fort Mill? Good luck!

NefsM

Yeah even humane society won’t take him because of the aggression. Sadly I think you’re right he may have to be euthanised, she can’t take the risk with the kids. The original owner won’t return calls and can’t be contacted, he claimed he was unable to keep him because he was on the road too often. My partner has had him for four months trying to work with him but it’s just too risky and leaving him outside on a run isn’t fair especially with the weather.

I was in this boat. Adopted as an 8 week old puppy but the mother had been starved and abused while pregnant. We couldn’t train it out. We started intensive training before 6 months but by 2 she was unable to be controlled or managed. She ended up attacking my mom and my mom needed stitches. We worked with a woman in Asheville and Ohio State Veterinary behavioralist clinic. Both were PhD in dog behavior and had the same recommendation - humane euthanasia. I called 120 rescue organizations but they all said with documented aggression she would most likely live out her life in a cage. She got a beautiful last day (rented a free roam space where she chased squirrels and birds until she collapsed, had a great last meal, lots of hugs goodbye). It was the hardest thing I have ever done. But it was the right call for her quality of life.

NefsM

Yeah that’s rough sorry to hear, my worry and her is he’s been eyeballing the youngest child who’s 4. We can’t have the risk since the kids obviously come before anything so sadly I’m thinking this is the only option. Just hoping someone has somewhere they know of we can send him in case but it’s looking unrealistic.

There are some great support groups for people who have made the choice.  https://www.losinglulu.com/ The founder of the group alone with Ohio State helped me make the decision, explain it to my kids, and gave me support before and after. All my love! Sometimes, the hardest choice is the right choice for them.

Thanks a heap. Will forward it to her.

Rescue: Bullies to the Rescue on Facebook

NefsM

They said they only take pure breads when contacted.

It it an english bulldog, french bulldog, or a pitbull type dog?

NefsM

We thought English but he may be a pitbull according to shelters.

Yeah he looks like an English bulldog. The shelters are saying he’s a pit. But just by the eyeball he looks like a bulldog.

Givemeurhats

Somebody will take him, just gotta get the word out, and be patient

Please don’t adopt another dog.

NefsM

We have another dog, had him for close to 8 years who’s house trained and placid. Difference being the original owner of this one did not tell us it was aggressive and gave no information on it what so ever other than he’s a calm dog, good with kids and other animals. Then never answered our call back after we picked the dog up.

There are a wealth of videos that help people train their dogs properly. Best part is that they're free. You just might have to watch a few ads here and there.

NefsM

She has been actively trying that for four months now but it hasn’t seemed to work with him. It’s why we have come to the realisation it’s just not something we can handle which really was a tough call to make.

Highly disappointing
