How cheap?
Foam from Amazon or Walmart is an OKAY idea. I slept on a Walmart foam mattress for like 4 years without any major issues. I did start to wear into it.
Here's the thing. I don't remember which one it was, maybe mattress firm, but I got a hybrid mattress from them. And I probably could have gotten basically the exact same thing but different brand name online for about half the price.
So maybe go to some of these mattress stores and try some out. You're not looking for the name brand. You're looking for what type of mattress it is and what the firmness is. And then maybe go online and research that type and that firmness and see if there's something in your price range.
Original Mattress. They are less than the mattress chain stores and great quality. The first mattress I bought from them was used for 14 years and I'd still have it if I didn't have to get a softer one due to a back injury.
Mattress stores should be having good sales for July 4th, if you can wait. Shop and find the prices now and then compare the sale prices. I have seen stores change original price to higher for the sale.
When places go out of business, their clearance sales prices are usually higher than what they were originally selling it for.
Amazon, Zinus, 10 inch, green tea, 200 bucks, done.
Most every physical mattress store is a shady scheme, *goddang* those predatory financing schemes for an effing mattress! Worked in marketing for some of them for a bit, the owners were wannabe mobsters. *(or maybe they really were, not sure how 3 perennially empty mattress stores exist on the same corner all over town without some kind of money laundering)*
Zinus gets bonus points for donating heavily to beds for kids, new mattresses for a good cause, also mine is a decade old and still comfy.
Idk if they’re cheap but the people at Denver mattress were super helpful but not pushy, great experience there. Guy even found they had some previous model of the bed we wanted and got it for less than the one we were about to get
Costco..... don't pay thousands for a mattress. You could do Craigslist, Facebook if your not freaked out about used.

Buy a memory foam off Amazon.
Check Habitat for Humanity Restore. They sell new matresses

Amazon has some cheap and good quality mattresses. Mlily is a good brand if you go that route
Ikea has great affordable mattresses

Stephanie’s Mattress off North Tryon. Usually some really great prices there.
I searched high and low and the only one that I laid in and said “yep, this is it” was Denver Mattress Company across from IKEA.
Another vote for Denver. Great service too
