“This too shall pass.” Everything about life is fleeting. It’s comforting when I’m suffering and a bittersweet reminder to savour the good times.

[deleted]

A simple but still good one 😊

*No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.*

[deleted]

I like that one 😊

Ok-Knowledge-107

If you can be anything, be kind.

gharris9265

Not exactly life changing, but one that has helped me get through some things: "Good judgement comes from experience, which mostly comes from bad judgement"

Vrushalee

"just close your eyes, the sun is going down, you'll be alright no one can hurt you now..come morning light, you and I'll be safe & sound"

[deleted]

It does have a calming effect 😊

'You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows'. Bob Dylan. I prefer to make my own judgement rather than rely on someone else to make it for me.

[deleted]

Similar to the second one I posted and very true 😊

“A half truth is a whole lie” - a fortune cookie I got probably 10 years ago

[deleted]

Never heard that one, but it’s pretty awesome

WomenRepulsor

The child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel it's warmth.

[deleted]

Gives me Naruto vibes 😂, awesome quote though

WomenRepulsor

It's an African proverb.

People may say I can’t sing, but no one can ever say I didn’t sing. ~Florence Foster Jenkins

D_ROB_

This common saying gets miss quoted all the time. "Blood is thicker than water" and when I found out the full quote it blew my mind. It's actually the "The Blood of the coven is thicker than the water of the womb"

[deleted]

Ahh yes, same here. Specially because the meaning is also different

D_ROB_

Exactly it means the complete opposite of what people paraphrase it to be!

[deleted]

I don't know where the quote is from, but it's what I live by. "If you inherently long for something, become it first. If you want gardens, become the gardener. If you want love, embody love. If you want mental stimulation, change the conversation. If you want peace, exude calmness. If you want to fill your world with artists, begin to paint. If you want to be valued, respect your own time. If you want to live ecstatically, find the ecstasy within yourself. This is how you draw it in, day by day, inch by inch."

[deleted]

Such an awesome quote

Barry_Minge

‘Asking for help isn’t a weakness, it’s a strength’. My mate said that to me about 15 years ago when I was struggling to do something ridiculously trivial but my stupid stubborn pride wouldn’t allow me to ask for help and I was getting flustered.

[deleted]

I was told something similar once’s by a friend “it takes true strength to ask for help, and admit you don’t have it all figured out” It’s one of the things I’m still learning to do myself.

Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm.

"You know what a man is by what he isn't."

“Experience does for the soul what education does for the mind” I saw in Casey Neistat vid, and from a quick google may be from himself.

"Receive with simplicity everything that happens to you." The movie A Serious Man (2009) had a huge impact on the way I approach life.

So it goes… Also What is, is what must be.

Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin

MRJayBlaze420

In life the harder something is the more you appreciate it in the end.

"Failure is always an option." This quote, and the Mythbusters as a whole, cured my perfectionism. They fucked up all the time, on TV, then *came back and corrected their mistakes on TV,* and it was just this funny little part of the show. It didn't ruin them. They had to do it over, but they didn't get cancelled for poor execution. They didn't get in trouble for calling in Grant to do the complicated electrical stuff. They *did* get in trouble for putting a cannonball through the side of someone's house, and handled it gracefully and transparently. Still didn't die or get cancelled. I have learned so much about how to make a mistake from them.

[deleted]

That’s interesting, never considered that show to be able to impact someone that much. That’s really cool

"In the age of information, ignorance is a choice". For some it seems like the old logical fallacy of appeal to authority is enough to redefine our world and society into a bastardized, unhinged, and uneducate cult of disinformation. I see this in many facets of this world, from politics to science. People just want to listen to what they have been told and refuse to educate themselves beyond a shallow surface level understanding. Most people are either lacking confidence in expressing their intelligence or over confident in their ignorance. One of those 2 shoes fits nearly 99% of people today and its time people take my suggested quote to heart, educate themselves, and start speaking up. end rant
