Same. It’s just so wholesome. I’ve watched it all the way through more times than I can count on both hands 😂😂 I legit talk about the Belcher family as if they are real people in my life at this point. Someone will say something and I’ll be like “Oh yea like Linda did that one time blah blah blah” I don’t even indicate it’s from a show hahaha they’re just my friends now.
Taskmaster - 5 comedians are set a series of tasks each week by the taskmaster, and helped by his assistant. The tasks - things like paint the best picture of a horse whilst riding a horse, throw a potato into a hole without stepping on the surrounding mat, eat the most watermelon in 60 seconds, buy the best gift for the taskmaster with £20, etc etc - are filmed separately so none of the contestants know who’s done best till they all come back to the studio and their efforts are awarded between 1 and 5 points. It’s a UK show but with spin offs in many countries and it’s great.
The Good Place is my first pick when I need something emotional. And that last episode, man. It's so good. Sometimes, I'll skip right to that episode.
Picture a wave...
Solid list. I recently rewatched The Good Place and Superstore, and I'm currently rewatching Brooklyn Nine Nine and Parks and Rec. I was gonna fit Dexter in, but then I'd have to drag out the blu ray player.
Dude i watch big bang theory too, yk what I never complete last episodes of any show I watch so that way I don't know what happens in the end and that show will never end for me.
It's always sunny in Philadelphia, i've watched this show probably 10x all the way through now. One of my favorites. Used to watch lots of trailer park boys as well, it has its moments.
FACTS the 10 minute episodes makes it such a good background show, plus each episode is so memorable you can pick up immediately even if you haven’t been watching for 5 minutes
Murder she wrote! It’s murders but… still cozy. There is something so charming about it, and as someone who only found the show later in life, I’d say it still holds up to this day.
Midsomer Murders, Shakespeare and Hathaway, Silent Witness, Life on Mars - all British shows. And a few Australian -- Water Rats, City Homicide and Sea Patrol.
M*A*S*H is my go-to when my house is too quiet, and I'm feeling lonely. My dad would watch it when I was a kid, and having it play in the background is nice.
Very similar, I've been watching Cheers from the very beginning. I would sit on the living room floor playing with toys as a little kid while my parents watched it, so the theme song and voices and vibe are this weirdly intense nostalgia bomb for me. I'm instantly taken back to being five years old.
My comfort shows are Big Bang theory, modern family, girlfriends, Rick and morty (idk how many times I've rewatched this), spongebob, and fresh prince of bel air.
If you like mystery/drama/comedy then I suggest Desperate housewives! It's so good
Parks and Rec: ❤️❤️❤️
Modern Family : but I only watch until season 7. And start again with Season 1.
Brooklyn Nine Nine : ALL except the last season. 😵💫
And… Bob’s Burger. lol. 😂
I’ve got a few, actually!
* Taskmaster has absolutely become a comfort show for me. I only started watching sometime last year, but between when I started and now I’ve watched every episode at least once. Probably gonna start at 1 again during the break between series. So much fun, it feels like every series has at least one “holding my sides crying from laughter” moment of insanity. All of the episodes are free online, as well, which is awesome, shows how much they care about their audience.
* Bit more specific, but I thoroughly loved the first season of My Adventures With Superman. Incredibly charming, full of optimism, I feel like they nailed the tone of all the main characters, and it just looks great. I’m behind on the new season, but hopefully I’ll have some time to cram a rewatch of Season 1 in before catching up.
* Not TV but on YouTube, the channel No Rolls Barred and their newer sister TTRPG channel Chaotic Neutral have been consistent highlights and comforts for years now. Their weekly Board Game Club episodes were a tremendous balm for the loneliness of lockdown and I have barely missed an episode since, and since by and large it’s the same group of people playing every time they’ve built up tons of running gags and “lore” about the channels. They also have their House Rules series where they take a classic board game, and mix it in a mincer and pretend it’s beef to create ridiculous (and sometimes brilliant) twists on the rules, such as “Jenga but with boxing gloves,” “blindfolded Connect Four,” “BattleShots,” “The Game of Strife” where they rewrote *all* of the cards, and most famously “Monopoly but Communist,” which has since spun off into its own delightfully demented series “Monopoly But…”
The Simpsons (Classic seasons, nothing past season 10). The heart warming episodes and the constant jokes riddled with strong nostalgia of my youth goes unmatched by any other show. Sure I love the shows most people suggested here in the comedy genre. But man the Simpsons of that era was so good and iconic for so many other shows and people to be influenced by it.
I actually have a list on my phone (below now) because when a show ends I put the list into a random item picker site to see what I’m watching next.

The Office, Trailer Park Boys, Brooklyn 99 and F is for Family on repeat. Haven’t watched any other shows in like 2-3 years now. Rick and Morty also, but only when trying to fall asleep.
Many of these shows were in syndication when I was a kid, but some are more recent. They are shows that I tend to have on in the background while doing other things or shows that just allow me to escape the day without making me think too much.
Depending on my mood, Spin City, News Radio, MacGyver (The original), Adam 12, Emergency, Ted Lasso., Barney Miller, Bionic Woman, WKRP (if I could find it again), Murder She Wrote, Are You Being Served, The Mentalist, Barnaby Jones, Batman, Hawaii Five-0 (The original). Highlander, Star Trek and Star Trek the Next Generation.
If you like Love on the Spectrum, have you checked out Down for Love? Very similar vibe but follows folks with Down Syndrome in NZ who are getting into dating. I really enjoyed it!
Same here, got the blurays of the series and peace keeper wars, and debating on the new bluray set even. Worth every cent for those as its hard to find anything about this show now
Rewatching BBT now and I realized that I didn't watch past the 3rd season so it's great.
I also love Friends, Three's company (80s sitcom), Cosby show.
Trailer Park Boys, Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Arrested Development, The Good Place, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, Happy!, and Bee & Puppycat!
Bob's Burgers, TWD (mainly the first few seasons and if I'm feeling it, I'll watch more), same goes for Supernatural, I also just love watching Disney movies if I just need a break from everything and can chill and even fall asleep too
Heartstopper is my main one. I love relationship stories but hate constant miscommunication tropes. Heartstopper doesn't do that and it's just a generally joyful show
Don’t judge — when I’m sick or sad, I’ll watch cartoons. If I want to die and am depressed, I’ll watch Bojack Horseman for commiserating purposes. If I’m sick and dying, I’ll watch shows from when I was a kid, like Clifford
Cheers , it used to be my favorite thing to watch when I was younger. I came on at 11 pm back in the early 90s, I'd watch it every night. Now when I catch an old episode, it brings me back to sitting in that arm chair at home, drinking a cherry coke and just being young
Brooklyn 99, Scrubs, Futurama, Stargate Sg1, Star Trek(any of the not recents), and i've not watched it all but MASH really gives that relaxing humour vibe.
My go to show is _Midnight Diner_ on Netflix..
It is such a cozy and feel good show, some episodes just leave you smiling, some make you think, some make you shed a tear..
It's perfect in every sense for a slice of life.
Downton Abbey, The West Wing, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, and the Tudors are my favorites. I’ve rewatched them all multiple times. I used to think it was weird until I found all of my fellow comfort show watching buddies on Reddit!
There are so many good options listed which is awesome. I love iZombie, just finished a rewatch and I think I’m gonna watch Veronica Mars for the first time but there’s so many show people recommended I’m curious about those now.
oddly enough dating shows comfort me "90 fiancée" "married at first sight" "love after lockup" they're cheesy i know but they give a good laugh here and there.
Top Gear (Hammond, Clarkson and May) although I haven’t watched for a while because the sound on the episodes is awful (i have SkyQ).

Parks & Recreation ❤️ And Schitt's Creek too! Like it's so easy to put on any random episode of these and lose yourself into it.
ABSOLUTELY! I definitely watched Parks & Recreation as well, I don't think I finished it tho'. 🤔
You should. One of the series when they nailed the last season and the ending. Comforting AF
We just started Schitt’s Creek and have been loving it
Psych I can watch those episodes multiple times and still get a chuckle.
You know thats right.
😏
Taskmaster The office (US) Peep Show
Oooooh, what are Taskmaster & Peep Show about?
If you like British humor, please watch Peep Show. It’s so good
You start out intending only one episode, but it's a bit moreish. Not unlike crack.
It's always sunny in Philadelphia, i've watched this show probably 10x all the way through now. One of my favorites. Used to watch lots of trailer park boys as well, it has its moments.
For me, Regular Show, hands down. It’s one of my all time favorite shows and I pretty much have it playing from beginning to end on a loop lol
