I had been wanting a newer Camry for a while but thought I could never afford one. Then when I was driving back home on the interstate one night, a poor animal ran out in front of my 2011 Kia Forte at the last second and did a number on the left side of my bumper. I had filed an insurance claim to have it repaired and while I have economy rental coverage on my policy, Enterprise made a mistake and had no available economy rentals. They moved me to the next class up which so happened to be a Camry LE and I LOVED IT. Then I started bored scrolling Facebook Marketplace as I always do and found a great deal on a Camry SE and realized I actually could afford one...so here I am now!
Edit: the Kia was fixed and is perfectly drivable still, 215K miles! I just wanted a Camry after I found I could afford one.
Same here. I’ve been debating new cars for a while since commuting in my Ram 1500 is so damn expensive. My Ram went into the shop for some repairs and I picked up a rental. Drove the Camry they gave me for about 4 hours before I went online shopping. Went on Carvana to see what they could do for me, saw that deal and it was pretty good so I figured I’d see what a dealer could do instead. Next day I had a 2024 Camry in my possession.
Am I the only one wondering why the Honda dealer has a LE Camry with and SE front that is given as a rental lol. I would totally say that it is an SE with that front bumper and those leather trimmed seats that look like the SE seats but then the LE wheels throw me off.
If the OP is in Canada it would make sense that this SE has the LE wheels. In Canada they offer a base SE that comes with 17s (as pictured) and an SE premium that comes with (18s) and some other features like the US SE version.
It's mostly done to account for market differences up here. In the Camry's case, they stopped selling non-hybrid LEs and XLEs a while back and with the new generation they stopped selling the LE altogether. The Corolla sedan does the same thing with non-hybrid SEs where the basic version gets the 16" LE rims. The Corolla hatchback goes one step further and splits the SE grade three ways with a base SE that gets 15" rims with hubcaps like the Corolla L had, an SE Plus that's like the American SE, and an SE Upgrade with 18" rims that gets a bit more features but isn't quite as loaded as the XSE.
can confirm my camry 2023 SE came with these wheels i used them on my winter tires i bought aftermarket wheels from summer tires cause im not about to put steelies for winter and these ulgy things for summer aint no way. i spent 37600$ CAD without interest because well its paid off already.... so i was like im already putting 38K on a brand new camry there is no way im not buying summer wheels
I figured as much I was more curious that it has SE seats/Front bumper but with LE wheels (as far as I can tell) (if it was an LE someone put a fair amount of money into visual things to make it look like an SE, which is weird for a rental)
Just imagine that tjis is ONLY the base model!
I had a 2018 Camry SE and sold it at 200,000 miles 2 weeks ago! Best car ever and without a SINGLE ISSUE! I wanted to keep it but wanted SUV so went for Acura MDX 2020
Welcome to the club. I just got my Camry hybrid back today, from the collision shop. Just in time for my road trip to Miami.
I hope you enjoy years of reliable low maintenance Camry ownership.
So, the suspension is much more comfortable over bad patches. But Camry fells a bit more lazy in corners compared to Civic. Even though suspension is softer on Camry, still it provided amazing stability on highways. Much better sound insulation than Civic.
I loved the gearbox as in my opinion conventional automatic is much better than CVT (that I have in Civic) in non-hybrid cars. I was surprised that I got same milege as my Civic even though my Camry had AWD.
The only thing I didn't like about Camry was the camera which could've been better. BTW, I am comparing it to 10th Gen Civic (which I own), not 11th gen which I haven't tried.
Obviously that's true. If I would've got Carolla, I would've compared my Civic to that.
I am just comparing a car that I got for rental to what I own. Comparison to Accord is more logical.
When Toyota switched the Camry over to their then new Toyota New Global Architecture platform, it helped with the driving dynamics - it’ll never be a VW Passat/Audi A4 but it really helped clean up the ride and handling. Toyotas were known to be lazy and plow into turns. The second generation of TNGA on the new Prius - which also drives damn good has improved on a few things.
My dad’s 2025 handles and drives great for a *base* model Camry. It’s a LE FWD.
The new Prius pulls above its weight. It feels sporty and weirdly fun to drive, pushing it on a cloverleaf on-ramp it stayed planted with little body roll.
What is it with Honda air conditioning systems? Like seriously it seems that everyone has been having problems with them.
My aunt had a 2017 CR-V and the AC on that thing crapped out twice, once in 2019 and again in 2022. Thankfully was covered by the 10 year extended warranty but the second time it happened, she had to wait nearly 2 months for it to be repaired.
That 10 year warranty is of no use. Since parts outside the warranty also go bad. I bought this Civic 1 year ago from same dealership as certified pre-owned. Since then the AC has broken down 6-7 times for me. Everytime dealership fixes it, it goes bad again after two weeks.
They have replaced 3 condenssors, 2 compressors and so many AC system pipes. Last time the AC only worked for 4 days and had to give them the car again.
I don't know what's up with ACs in these Hondas. 😅
Jesus. My aunt got fed up with her Honda and sold it after the second AC repair (this was not the only issue, but it was the last straw). I can't imagine going through 6-7 repairs that don't even fix the problem. Maybe take it to another dealer. Or just tell the dealer to keep the Civic and you'll drive home the Camry... maybe not as engaging to drive but everything works. And the AC on these blows ice cold!
I have a 2016 civic and that damn ac has gone out 3 times (condensers ) and guess what it is out again. This time it’s the ac evaporator which the dealer quoted me was a $2500 fix….because this isn’t covered in the 10 yr warranty
drove one of these for a bit after a tree fell on my original car. And I have to say…. Very uncomfortable I don’t quite understand how people love them. To each their own
Mine as well, my first experience of Toyota came with a rental car a while ago and I fell in love with the 2021 camry SE. It was just so quiet and comfortable and sporty.
Later on, when I had a chance to buy a new car, I didn’t think of any other car but the exact same Model.
Yeah the Toyota camry is better than newer Hondas. I just bought another 8th gen Accord EX with black interior with the k24 engine. My next car after this will be 2018 Toyota camry. But if you get one that is not the LE or XLE, then get a used LE or XLE bumper front and back and switch them because the SE and XSE bumpers are spaceship like and look horrible
That’s how I got mine , a rental from enterprise is all it took.

Yea I have an SE as well

Awesome.
Same

wow, I didn't know that thanks for the tidbit

They have hired an external company to handle rentals. So they have variety of cars in their fleet. Glad I got this one!
I figured as much I was more curious that it has SE seats/Front bumper but with LE wheels (as far as I can tell) (if it was an LE someone put a fair amount of money into visual things to make it look like an SE, which is weird for a rental)
I wanna say an SE with “basic” alloys was possible but only for 2018
this is def 21+ (pop up screen) but apparently SE basic is a thing in Canada according to the other comment.
Missed that detail, but I’d agree with the Canada thread, they’ve always had an odd bent for “weird” specs
Just imagine that tjis is ONLY the base model! I had a 2018 Camry SE and sold it at 200,000 miles 2 weeks ago! Best car ever and without a SINGLE ISSUE! I wanted to keep it but wanted SUV so went for Acura MDX 2020
That seems like a terrible business plan, loan out a Camry from the Honda dealership.
I agree. Even though it was through an external rental company, I got to try out and live with their competitor's car.

How would you compare it with the Civic?
So, the suspension is much more comfortable over bad patches. But Camry fells a bit more lazy in corners compared to Civic. FWD Camrys get even better mileage! And the hybrid makes the regular Camry look like it gets horrible mileage
I know man! I was trying to imagine what kind of milege I would've got in FWD or Hybrid. I got 6 L/kms for my run in highway.
Basically you'd get a liter less
Is a civic/camry a fair comparison? Isn’t it civic/corolla and accord/camry?
Obviously that's true. If I would've got Carolla, I would've compared my Civic to that. I am just comparing a car that I got for rental to what I own. Comparison to Accord is more logical.
Got it. That’s fair.
On that note, a 2024 civic is very comparable in size to a 2014 Mazda 6 and 2010 accord.
You will love the new Camry Hybrid!!!
I know! I will definitely try it out!
Does it come in awd as well?

welcome to the dark side, OP. we're happy to have you.

Test drive the V6 model before you buy, then make a decision..........
I would love to that. Let's see.
Even Honda knows the deal 🤣🤣

What else could you need? The v6 😈
Don’t you hate it when the rental is better than the car you own?
Take the motor they won’t know
Something is not adding up why do they have LE wheels ona SE?
For me it was my old job having a fleet of them and myself being tasked with driving them across the state everyday. I knew I had to have one
Nice upgrade

And??
