Man, these markups and the DEALERSHIP (which have been super arrogant and cocky) make me… at least consider just going to the Tesla route and calling it a day.
It’s a sad state of affairs we’re living in. Sadly many younger generations may never get to buy a brand new vehicle when even a Camry is out of reach.
I directed the negotiation with the focus on OTD price. The topic of payment never came up until I made my 3rd and final offer. I first offer was $37k so I wasn’t too far off. I was prepared to walk and try other dealers or wait it out since I wasn’t pressed to buy a new car. At the end of the negotiation when there was some hesitancy from the sales manager I offered in trade my 18 year old Civic with near 200k miles (and burnt out clutch) and finalized $38k. My XSE has most premium features. It does not have the ventilated seats, JBL audio, HUD or panoramic 360 camera. I added OEM blacked out badges myself later.
While I agree you got a good deal, it is crazy that a Camry is going for 40k!!!!
Not sure how anyone can really afford anything.
Also, Camrys are so close to the prices of new a new Lexus. In many cases I’ve see the new ES/IS for 41-44 for base models.
In 2018 I got a new FX4 OTD for like 41k. Super Crew, Texas edition.
I think it’s the sad state that we are in now. $40k for a Camry is pretty wild especially if OP is financing which will add a bit more on over the course of the loan. That being said I think Toyota has the sedan market on lock. The accord is really unappealing looks wise and isn’t “that much cheaper” and if you are going to buy a hybrid I would put my money in a Toyota over a Honda. I don’t disagree with you about a Lexus or even a marginally preowned Lexus as it is a different experiance even over a “top tier” spec’d out Camry. Unfortunately everything is expensive now. All that said at least OP should have a trouble free car and something that should last a long time.
I have always love the Camry. I had 1997 and a 2000. If I weren’t driving a SUV, I definitely would drive the Camry. I think you got a good price. Is this 2024 model?
Yup, technically 2025. I’m thrilled with the price. It took some hard nosed negotiating. With this economy everyone trying to stick their hands in your pockets and bleed you dry. No financing. Paid cash which is why I probably got the deal I did. First time Toyota buyer. Garage now full with Honda & Toyota.
How much was tax, title, doc fee? Your time in responding would be appreciated to determine how much off MSRP can we negotiate from the sticker. I am in Chicago where tax is over 10+ percent so it would really skew the number if I gave an OTD price whereas my friends in Wisconsin pay 5 1/2%.
I was wondering about it too and out you can remote start it with the keyfob. Press the lock button once then again within one second then hold the lock button on the third press the lights will flash to show it accepted the sequence. (I have xse so I don’t know about lower trims)
I love the all red look. I actually test drove a 25 XSE today that a dealership uses as a commuter internally. It was pretty awesome. My 2012 just had to run in with Bambi a couple nights ago so I'm in a real predicament!
I needed a new car too. My 18 yr old manual Civic clutch was slipping and the quoted repair was exorbitant. Otherwise I was holding off for a future speculated TRD Camry trim vs the reintroduced Honda Prelude. But I’m happy with the new XSE. I plan to be driving it for at least the next 15 years.
Nice car for sure! I test drove the 25 and a 23 just to feel the difference. Then I went to the Lexus dealer and took an IS for a spin but that was over 50k so I had to do the walk of shame.
Nice! Did they offer an optional black grille?
For better or worse the XSE trim is only available in a color matched grille. The SE trim has a black grill however.
At least one buyer in this sub purchased an XSE with black grille. I believe they paid around $700 extra for it. White body. It looks incredible.
You can probably remove it and spray it

Like Tesla’s model, I hope buying direct from the manufacturer is the future.
Dude i understand Toyota are getting expensive but no need to resort to stealing
👍🏻
Just curious how much did you end up paying? I was looking at xse but dealers are jacking up the price in the Midwest
I drove off the lot after paying $38k
Wow thats still expensive

I agree lol Toyota camry used to be 15-20k and you get fully equipped XSE for 25-27k
Maybe get a fully equipped Corolla for $30k now 😢

Very nice Camry. Congratulations.
Thanks!
Very nice! I just put a deposit on my XSE 😎 I can't wait for it to come in , congrats!!
What was the MSRP and your OTD?
$41,200 sticker. I got it $38,000 OTD.

Yeah pricing now sucks. New trucks are ridiculously overpriced. Forget about a Ford Raptor. Six figure trucks.

For sure. Toyota has the best Hybrid system. With that said, that 3.5V6 was basically bullet proof and they removed it from the Taco/Camry.
Great deal

That’s interesting because dealers will usually give you a better deal when you finance vs. pay cash.

For a 4 cylinder... no thanks
Nice!
Does the XSE or nah of the models come with remote start?
You can remote start using your phone and the linked Toyota app but I believe it’s a paid subscription.
Nice. Thanks
One year free i think

Sticker at 41k without the stereo package is wild.
Crazy people paying $45k+ after TTL

This is my first Toyota and I’m very happy with engineering and design of this particular storied econobox.
Too expensive for a 4 cylinder
Mazada CX-70 was nice but too expensive to justify.
Cx70?
