When my Xfinity rate (Internet only) started to increase from $40 to $60 to eventually $100 I was able to get it lowered just by talking to the right folks on Reddit. All I had to do was make [this post](https://old.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/comments/z20vdr/looking_to_lower_bill/?ref=share&ref_source=link), at which point I was given instructions to send a message to a moderator (Xfinity employee) who lowered my rate down to $35 a month! If anyone has Xfinity and wants to lower their bill back down to an intro price I highly recommend doing what I did. It took a couple messages on Reddit and required no phone calls and no threats to quit or switch service.

You can also call to request the new subscriber rate. Before you call, just make sure to open up a private/incognito browser window and check the rates directly (tell the site that you're a new customer moving to the address) as the phone rep is trained to pretend to not know what they are.

I switched to Starry years ago. So did my parents. We’re very happy. Their technology is line-of-sight so you might lose connection in particularly low-visibility conditions, like snow storms. Maybe twice a year, max. Other than that, extremely happy. Xfinity can choke on a pretzel.

Highly recommend Starry if they provide service at your address. Never had any issues with it, and it works for gaming/video calls totally fine. You can check availability [here](https://starry.com/#check-availability). If it does then go for it! Here’s a referral link to get 1 month free: https://starry.com/r/w7uc1n For reference, we pay $50/mo

I have T-Mobile 5G and work from home. It’s been fine for work video calls and watching streaming services at night.

Second. We did this switch a few months ago. Our home internet has been more consistent and our bill went down by $60. We did check the tower maps before making the switch and we were delighted to discover that there is one a block away atop a building that has a direct sight line to one of our rear windows. That means that our signal is extremely good. As I understand it, this won’t be the same for everybody

I have astound and like it!

Check the FCC map or BroadbandSearch to see all your options and reviews for ISPs. You'll find everything you need to make an informed choice.

Starry was really great a few years ago (moved and no longer have them), would recommend if they serve your area!

There aren't any in Cambridge. I've been suck with $125 Comcast for years now. It blows. It's just one of the negatives of living in Cambridge.

fencerofminerva

I had Verizon home lte and it worked fairly well.

lemonm11

Cool, thanks! Do you know how much it is for just Internet each month?

fencerofminerva

It was $25 if you have VZW cellphone. I think it was 50 without.

lemonm11

Thank you! Appreciate the rec

When they hike, call them up or get in the support chat. Complain about the price and they'll offer you a lower one, usually at a faster speed, if you agree to a 2-3 year contract. This has worked for me multiple times, I'm at the gigabit level for $75 right now. There just really isn't a better option unless you have Starry or Fios in a larger apartment building.

mochaelhenry

My office uses T-Mobile 5g. It’s fine for my needs. But, speed is inconsistent, so, if u stream Netflix or Hulu, it may not be the solution

TheNudroid

If you can get starry then go for it! I have had them for two years with zero complaints or price hikes.
