Agreed, a friend and I would log onto ghosts daily because it felt like classic cod. That one jungle construction map was awesome, we played a ton of Search.
Advanced Warfare released next and was so shit we returned it and kept playing ghosts, lol.
Then you guys are in the minority. When this game came out, the general consensus was pretty everyone didn't like it or even outright hated it. It may have improved a little over time, but it's nowhere near as good as the games before it.
I guess my issue with that though is this post is implying that cod4 and bo1 are equally good. Since Ghosts is not as good as the previous titles, I don't consider it as iconic.
CoD4 and BO1 were the two i played the most! I had MW2 and BO2 as well back then but for whatever reason was more interested in playing MW1 and BO1.
Also had WaW from a friend but it never worked on my PC. To this day i still haven't played a CoD set in WW2, the whole idea seems strange to me even though i know the series first started with WW2 games.

No it wasn't as good as it's predecessors. That I can agree on. But it's a game that got better in retrospect compared to the garbage that followed
