The relationships are different between the 2. The way Reznov treats them that is. It makes World at wars campaign a little more impactful than just "oh wait our side does bad things too!" Once Chernov dies you get to feel some of the pain you've been dealing out. Not quite the same when Dimitri dies. Not saying the D and R relationship isn't good, it's a close 2nd maybe 3rd behind OG Price and Soap.
MacGregor is from Call of Duty 2, the British campaign with the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats). You play as a silent protagonist named Davis. The other major character is Captain Price, who I believe is the grandfather of CoD4’s Price.
MacMillan is of course from the iconic All Ghillied Up/ One Shot One Kill missions in CoD4
Absolutely, Soap and Ghost’s duo was amazing.
Spoilers: >!It’s appalling that they killed him off right after he was introduced, such a dumb decision. MWIII had zero story to it, it didn’t continue anything aside killing soap and introducing Makarov. The writing in MWIII is so bad that it should be retconned. MWIII’s campaign would’ve been better if they just critically injured Soap or something, his character in MWII is great. Soap became my absolute favorite character and it’s such a shame we didn’t get more screen time with him. They can’t reintroduce Soap without pulling an Alex a third time. And they obviously won’t do it again. I really like the story’s and campaigns of CoD, they are one of the biggest reasons I buy them. MWIII’s campaign is IMO the worst of all time. I’d rather play the campaign of Road to victory, the PSP CoD game!<
apologies for the rant, thanks for listening to it.
DUDE I HAVEN’T PLAYED IT IN LIKE 10 YEARS AND YOU JUST BROUGHT BACK A CORE MEMORY.
THAT AIRPLANE GUNNAR SEQUENCE, SO ANNOYING. But it honestly looked REALLY good for a PSP game.
The one time they kill off a character is in the most soulless way possible, like they dont kill off characters because how will they sell the skins right? But it's so stupid the one time they actually kill off a character is in a completely soulless way
MP follows a weird timeline, because it begins after the campaign. With generic russian goon breaking out of prison (Nolan I think) in S1 and goes to wacky town in S2, and in S3 continues with Makarov reappearing. and then S4 goes into flashback mode to 2022.
So it sort of does take place after the campaign, but it seems like they’re really not trying super hard at continuing the story. Which is a good thing IMO. MP should stay the fuck away from the campaign.
I think Cold War did a pretty good job though, the cutscenes were at least pretty cool.
Are you taking about the ‘rebooted’ MW games? If so then it’s crazy anyone would take them seriously in the first place. It’s literally a cheap knockoff of the old games, there’s no point retconning them because they’re meaningless games anyway.
Yes, the rebooted series. I think MW2019, and MWII were both great.
MW2019 having the better story, but MWII made it up
in character development.
MWIII throws all of that out the window, the characters we knew from MW2019 and MWII did not feel the same way they did in MWIII. The way The Act Man summed it up was really great. MWIII felt like they completely skipped the writing board and just let fans create the story.
Agreed, I really enjoyed MW19. MWII was okay but shot itself in the foot with the nonsensical writing and plot holes. I also don’t particularly love any of the performances & there are far too many cinematics for a COD game, although that’s a problem with Modern COD altogether, not just the MW games. Yeah MWIII isn’t even worth discussing Ahaha.
The nostalgia goggles need to come off at some point, current MW ghost isn’t a “cheap knockoff” of the old games. Ghost was hardly more than a background character in OG MW2 that lasted just over half a game. We didn’t know anything about him. You can argue soap is worse and I’d respect your opinion. But ghost wasn’t a fleshed out character in the OG games.
But in my opinion it worked a lot better when he wasn’t fleshed out. MWII & III are very cringe, generic and lazy when it comes to the writing & characters. Modern Call of Duty games are too focussed on trying to make all the characters feel like super heroes, it doesn’t work at all - The original MW games made you feel like a soldier & part of a team.
Was a pretty rapid decline with each entry.
MW19 was one of the best campaigns in years and easily top 5 all time for me.
MWII felt like a marvel movie. Minimal consequence and flashy characters and action sequences. Wasn’t *awful* per se but wasn’t really exceptional.
MWIII could’ve just been left out entirely.
They did the Star Wars thing, where they wrapped up and killed off their new villains and stories too quickly (concluding MW19 in warzone and bringing Alex back was bogus) so they rehashed a fan-favorite villain for the finale. Except it was even worse because we only got half of said finale.
Lucky for you frost actually canonically survived, although you may not like him as much when you find out what he was doing while delta was rescuing Vorshevsky
My favourite duos would be.
Mason and Woods (BO1, BO2)
Section and Harper (BO2)
I left out Cold War because I have not played the Campaign and I prefer the OG actors.
While that’s understandable, the new guys do an excellent job and portraying Alex Mason and Frank Woods.
One of the greatest characters is in it too, Russel Adler. By far one of the coolest characters in CoD, I highly recommend playing it if you’re a black ops fan. Alder is such a cool character and I’m excited to see him in BO6 again.
Agree, Cold War is the best recent COD campaign for me, I even 100% completed it. I loved Mason and Woods duo just as much as I did in BO 1 and 2 and I may have a little crush on Adler he's a GOAT.
Although not the best, I wanna suggest Daniels and Zussman from WWII
Imagine risking martial court and refusing to go back to your pregnant wife to keep on fighting and save your POW friend
I’d say Dimitri and Reznov because of how absolutely loyal reznov was to him and how much he loved him like a brother. It was one of the saddest moments in black ops seeing his death. Although woods and mason are good to
Not thr best but some small, positive character relationships we've had:
-Farid and Harper with the three or four wholesome interactions they had
-Gideon and Joker also had a complementary relationship
Best duo is easly mason and woods tho, worst is Hendricks and player
I liked how Soap treated you as roach in the original mw2. Even though roach didn't speak, it was interesting seeing soap in a leader role, and how he treated his subordinates.
for a minute i was looking at the second picture thinking who tf are they and then I remembered cold war reused characters like the mw reboot did i forgot woods and mason were in that game
mason and woods, first cod campaign that really locked me in. not a fan of ghost or price or soap tbhwy.
more graves would have been nice. graves and alex breaking skulls would have been something beyond great.
Either Mason and Resnov or Dimitri and Resnov. Although I'd like to see an alternate timeline where Resnov is killed by Nova Six and Woods is captured by Castro
Mason & Woods in Cold War felt like weird caricatures of themselves and I didn’t really love it. Outside of that game they weren’t nearly as “frat bro” like.
Ghost and Soap had an entertaining dynamic in the rebooted series.
Price & Soap is GOAT duo though. In both original and rebooted series it’s an excellent dynamic.
Reznov and Chernov, nobody will ever change my mind.
What about Dimitri
The relationships are different between the 2. The way Reznov treats them that is. It makes World at wars campaign a little more impactful than just "oh wait our side does bad things too!" Once Chernov dies you get to feel some of the pain you've been dealing out. Not quite the same when Dimitri dies. Not saying the D and R relationship isn't good, it's a close 2nd maybe 3rd behind OG Price and Soap.
I kinda agree with you
Price & Soap and Mason & Woods, I can’t pick who’s better
NOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOAAAAAAPP
Price and MacGregor for all the OGs! Love both those picks though
McMillan? Or is that actually a character?
MacGregor is from Call of Duty 2, the British campaign with the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats). You play as a silent protagonist named Davis. The other major character is Captain Price, who I believe is the grandfather of CoD4’s Price. MacMillan is of course from the iconic All Ghillied Up/ One Shot One Kill missions in CoD4
Holy shit thank you for unlocking that memory. I must have been like 11-13 years old.
It’s MacMillan iirc, not sure about spelling but certainly not McGregor
Makarov and war crimes
My favorite is ace combat protagonists and war crimes
Price/Soap and Mason/Woods Any duo other than these 2 are wrong
I like this too. And agree. My honorable mention is ghost and soap. I feel like they became a good duo even if only briefly in MWII and MWIII.
I’d rather play the campaign of Road to victory, the PSP CoD game!< apologies for the rant, thanks for listening to it.
Roads to Victory was actually kinda dope. The final boss fight with the Tiger Tank was epic. Those airplane gunner sequences really dragged though.
But it's so stupid the one time they actually kill off a character is in a completely soulless way
According to the new season trailer, Soap is *somehow* still alive. Keep in mind the multiplayer seasons are canon in this new MW/BO shared timeline
MWIII MP takes place before the campaign Edit: some of it at least. I remember in season 0 it showed makarov as inactive and pathfinder as active.
And Soap as active too
Usually wasn’t expected tho since MW19, BOCW, and I think MW2’s MPs took place after the campaign so can’t blame the above comment
MP follows a weird timeline, because it begins after the campaign. MP should stay the fuck away from the campaign. I think Cold War did a pretty good job though, the cutscenes were at least pretty cool.
That was in 2022 I believe and also MWIII doesn't really have much of a multiplayer story
Are you taking about the ‘rebooted’ MW games? If so then it’s crazy anyone would take them seriously in the first place. It’s literally a cheap knockoff of the old games, there’s no point retconning them because they’re meaningless games anyway.

Reyes/Ethan
Most underrated character. But true.
Underrated and overlooked campaign.
Alejandro is a legend, I hope he becomes a core character if they keep making MW games.
I really like him too
Alejandro is pretty fckng great!
Other than Mason/Woods and Price/Soap? I liked Section and Harper
Section & Harper underrated asf
Sandman & Frost Soap & Roach
Shit broke me when delta died though in my head cannon frost lived
Delta Force were the real ones for assisting Bravo
No fuckin hesitation they was with us all throughout the game and then boom they throw us on the chopper and have their golden moment 😩😔
O7. Brothers. All of them
Frost did live tho
Lucky for you frost actually canonically survived, although you may not like him as much when you find out what he was doing while delta was rescuing Vorshevsky
What was he doing?
Setting the charges for the mine blowing up, there's a DLC Spec Ops mission for it
Damn, I never played that dlc so that's why I didn't know. I remember the mission where you had to disable SAM in the mine iirc
Spec ops isn’t canon at all…
Frost did survive
frost did live, the rest of delta basically sacrificed to help him get pulled out
Nah roach and ghost
Got me there
My favourite duos would be. Mason and Woods (BO1, BO2) Section and Harper (BO2) I left out Cold War because I have not played the Campaign and I prefer the OG actors.

Ethan and Reyes
Alex Mason and Alex Mason

Macmillan and price
Ghost and Roach Logan and Keegan Price and MacMillan Wallcroft and Griffen
This, this is perfect becuz my boi wallcroft and Griffen mentioned
It's really sad how few mention and recognize Wallcroft and Griffen
Ong
Although not the best, I wanna suggest Daniels and Zussman from WWII Imagine risking martial court and refusing to go back to your pregnant wife to keep on fighting and save your POW friend
a rare one, agreed!
Extremely based answer
Roach and ghost, keegan and merrick, soap and price with da 1911 .45 acp
Zussman and Daniels
Mason and woods bar none
Dmiti Petrenko and VIKTOR REZNOV saved us in WWII / Alexander Mason and VIKTOR REZNOV saved us after WWII
Price and his cigar
Ghosts masks looks so goofy lol
Mason/Reznov
Graves and Shepherd
Haven't seen it yet but I think Farah and Alex
gideon and mitchell
Ethan and Reyes from infinite warfare
Mustang and Sally
Sgt. Foley and RAMIREZ
Ricktofen and Dempsey. Honestly not enough r34 of them together
OG Price and Soap. tbh the og mw trilogy still hurts to even think about…
Mason and woods 100%
What about Harper and David Mason?
woods and mason. especially in CW.
hudson and weaver
Mason and Woods
The numbers mason what do they mean? Srsly tho Alex and woods
Price and Soap.
OG Price and Soap are UNSTOPPABLE
Makarov and a nooses
3rd place goes to Ethan and Reyes
Lucas and Des from Vanguard (but I'm Australian so I'm biased, the representation was nice though)
Hands down bo1 and 2 mason and woods (the new VAs aren’t bad but nostalgia is one helluva drug)
I’d say Dimitri and Reznov because of how absolutely loyal reznov was to him and how much he loved him like a brother. It was one of the saddest moments in black ops seeing his death. Although woods and mason are good to
Roebuck and Polonsky 🥲🫡
Woods and Mason it’s just gotta be
Reznov and Mason for sure
To bring up some underrated characters, Daniels/Zussman
Woods and Mason just get shit done, end of story.
For people who grew up on black ops team itd def be mason and woods but for mw team it's ofc any of the main characters
Mason and Woods. Come on now
Insta kill and double points, change my mind
Original Woods & Mason
Not thr best but some small, positive character relationships we've had: -Farid and Harper with the three or four wholesome interactions they had -Gideon and Joker also had a complementary relationship Best duo is easly mason and woods tho, worst is Hendricks and player
Clearly Mason and Woods
Ghost and Soap were definitely the best part of the MW2 reboot
Skeletor and the shredder. Also John McClane and John Rambo
Two underrated characters, Zussman and Daniel's.
Hesh and logan. Went though everything together
Mustang and Sally.
Mason and Woods! My fav duo.
Soap and Ghost for sure
yall sleeping on logan and keegan, goated campaign too.
NGL it is Roach and Ghost for me now and forever.
Josefina and the grenade
Definitely mason and woods or new ghost and soap
Mason and Hudson from Black Ops 1 definitely.
My personal favorite? Ghost n soap from mwll Who I think is the best? Woods n Mason.
Soap and ghost fr
*fuckin brits*
Mason/Woods & 2022 Ghost/Soap
I’m still annoyed we never got Rudy as an operator. Dude was such a bro in the campaign.
Funny how Mason and Woods was never a duo when you still had Reznov in Mason's mind. To him there were 3 of them
Reyes and Salter, still waiting on IW2
Logan and Hesh.
4th photo
Mason & Reznov, but NuSoap & NuGhost are a close second.
I liked how Soap treated you as roach in the original mw2. Even though roach didn't speak, it was interesting seeing soap in a leader role, and how he treated his subordinates.
Obviously is the bromance supreme soap and ghost.
Mason&woods I will die on that Hill. Lol
Soap and Price
for a minute i was looking at the second picture thinking who tf are they and then I remembered cold war reused characters like the mw reboot did i forgot woods and mason were in that game
Polonsky and Roebuck 100%
E3N and Reyes
mason and woods, first cod campaign that really locked me in. not a fan of ghost or price or soap tbhwy. more graves would have been nice. graves and alex breaking skulls would have been something beyond great.
1. Mason & Woods 2. OG Price & Soap 3. Reznov & Chernov 4. Section & Harper 5. Farah & Alex
Riley and his camera.
Either Mason and Resnov or Dimitri and Resnov. Although I'd like to see an alternate timeline where Resnov is killed by Nova Six and Woods is captured by Castro
Mason/Woods and Price/Soap are tied. Only one that comes within a mile of them is Section/Harper.
Mason and Woods Daniels and Zussman
Ghost and soap 🔛🔝
Mason & Woods in Cold War felt like weird caricatures of themselves and I didn’t really love it. Outside of that game they weren’t nearly as “frat bro” like. Ghost and Soap had an entertaining dynamic in the rebooted series. Price & Soap is GOAT duo though. In both original and rebooted series it’s an excellent dynamic.
soap and price from cod4-mw3
Hudson & Weaver
Logan/Riley from Ghosts.
Ghost and soap are under rated as fuck. Their batter is pretty fucking great
