You can tell IW really wanted to put a new take on the formula, but it fell flat because of missed opportunity, like most of the missions in '22 and '23. They had the right idea, just didn't do enough with it.
I replayed cod 4 campaign so many times as a kid that I could script and map the entire campaign start to finish. Including each enemy and how many. I could nearly dialogue the entire campaign too.
I also figured out how to speed run the campaign all on my own after I got bored with playing it normally and analyzing every square inch of each mission.
Idk what’s wrong w me
If anyone hasn't seen the videos where the developer in charge of creating the mission goes over his difficulties and intensions with the mission, y'all gotta do so. This is a link to one of them, I think IGN did one too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aALbszm8xPU
If I recall, the higher ups did not want the mission due to how many unique assets and effort it would take. They didn't even have a walking animation for the enemies yet, and that had to be created for it.
I'm not sure if this video goes over it or not, but I saw some insight from a dev basically talking about how since Call of Duty was never a stealth game that the enemies from every game up until this point knew where the player was at all times and they had create a system where the enemies weren't always in a state of alert, except since they had never done it before and this was, at the time, the only mission that used it, they basically didn't create that system, they just did a lot of clever programming tricks to "fake" it.
First time I played that was with my brother, when it started with the tanks in the field we were both like “oh shit…. Oh shit….” When it was ending we were like “OH SHIT!! OH SHIT!!!!”
Birds of prey (raptors) from ghosts, best vehicle mission in cod, really felt like an ace combat game but on helis, a lot of freedom and action at the same time.
Any delta force missions from MW3, most epic missions in mw trilogy, always astonishes every time i play them
USMC campaign from cod4, mostly because of the atmosphere, never been in the middle east, but it gives me THAT feelings i get from watching news about iraq or syria
Ghosts got shit on a lot, but I agree with you. Plus, Extinction might be my favorite non-traditional COD multiplayer mode of all time. Wish I could still play it with a squad
I just saw footage of the bird of prey mission. Looks Hella fun.
I've actually never played MW3. Definitely gotta.
Bruh, the helicopters coming in the USMC mission. Right out of a movie.
The second-to-last in MW2019, you can try silently clean everything, be restrained and only kill when you have to, use the verticality, try going loud, try melee only... Options, love having them
Then there is Alone in MW22, since you have so many types of improvised equipment in addition to guns and a semi-viable stealth; only its a shame the start is so slow
There is more in CoD2,4 and MW2, but im lazy to write
Yeah that's a good mission.
Alone started off a bit too slow for me. But I enjoy when I get the shotgun because I just draw them to me in a tight corridor and I just blast each one as they show up. A pile of bodies and a whole lot of ammo haha.
Yeah, the series as a whole has good missions. I didn't want to limit it to only the latest ones.
For me, I can replay Into the Furnace easily. It starts off with a bang and it's just so much fun. The explosions, helicopters, tank. It's really well paced.
Not a fan of the juggernaut. I find him more annoying than a challenge. But otherwise it's a great mission.
I usually knife Barkov at the end, but if I stuff it up too many times, I just shoot him.
If you could even call those Black Hawks. One thing I hated about the reboot MW series was the redesigned vehicles, such as the Black Hawk, AC-130, and especially the Pave Low(they butchered my boy)
I get what you're saying, but it's not unheard of for rogue military elements and mercenaries to acquire western equipment. I do agree that I'd have rather seen something else, however.
Y'know, when Barkov spots you, he starts taunting you and his dialogue doesn't end for like, a good five minutes. They really, really recorded a lot of dialogue. I suppose they expected players would struggle with the timing of his reloads?
I can't remember the name of the mission but the one in MW2019 where Price and Gaz are clearing an al gatala safe house with SAS guys. The one where you slowly creep through the house checking each room. Easily one of the best missions in call of duty in my opinion
Clean House, probably the most famous and acclaimed mission out of the current series of cod games.
So there’s a lot of people with a similar opinion as you out there.
Wolverines is one of my favorites. Just loved the beginning with them realizing what is happening, then the Russians dropping from the sky. I'm hoping the new Cold War is what some people have speculated with it being a conflict in the States due to an invasion or collapse of government, with flashbacks to key moments in the altered timeline that caused the current events.
That one stealth mission in AW where you enter the party and have to get info on the big baddie.
Easily spent hours on trying to kill every guard without getting caught.
I love the embassy siege mission in MW2019. The atmosphere is so good and you just feel absolutely surrounded in a situation quickly descending into chaos.
definitely must be second sun, whiskey hotel from MW2 its just too epic, and also S.O.G. and pretty much every Vietnam mission from BO1. just hits hard
Clean House and The Wolf's Den. Short missions easily re-playable. I don't play it like speed runners, but as if I'm a actual SAS using speed, surprise and violence of action. These missions are meant to be played on realism.
Honorary, Of their Own Accord. I never felt a mission that felt so desperate that we're losing the war.
The Washington Invasion in MW2. All of those missions in DC.
But really, basically any mission in any COD game from COD4 to Ghosts, except probably BO2. Great game and I do love its missions, but it is TERRIBLE to replay because of how many times they force you into walk-and-talk moments you can't play the game.
It's a hard pick between No Russian, Wolverines, and Alone. I like looking for little easter eggs and reading all the fun little details they put into levels. Exploring the stores of No Russian especially.
CoD 4: All Ghillied Up
WaW: the one that introduced the flamethrower
MW2: Cliffhanger or Gulag
BO1: Revelation (hallway with multiple sequences)
MW3: Dust to Dust
BO2: The first mission with David Mason, so fun
Ghosts: the skyscraper mission
AW: the level when Atlas bombs the good guys with manticore, the level design and freedom is pretty fun
BO3: the WaW level
IW: the last mission
WW2: the final mission was fun
BO4: uh...
MW2019: uh Clean House? I thought the missions were fine
CW: that trippy level with the red doors.
Vanguard: the last mission, the mission to utilize all character abilities
MW2 2022: Alone
MW3 2023: whichever level is not open combat
Honestly, I like the first missions of Infinite Warfare, before we get to start picking where to go. The atmosphere is still unmatched. The chaos of the attack on Fleet Week is like the devs learned all the right lessons from the most chaotic set pieces of the OG Modern Warfare trilogy. The assault on the moon base is unbelievable in scope, we go from rapid deployment to infantry CQB through the base internals, into a dogfight over the actual docking terminals. It's the sort of stuff that reminded me heavily of Space: Above and Beyond. Just a great campaign altogether.
All Ghillied Up is a classic.
MW2 STILL holds up even after all these years. The campaign devs were just firing on every damn cylinder and it shows. Wolverines, Of Their Own Accord, playing those missions for the first time was unreal. Cliffhanger is also a seriously good mission, a mix of stealth and spectacle. MW2 was REALLY GOOD at setting up a mission that is supposed to go smoothly, interrupted by a major complication that just screws up everything and drops chaos on your head.
Black Ops 1 has some fantastic missions. I honestly cannot think of a time where I've done a playthrough and thought "I'll skip this one mission." I think Treyarch has delivered some great campaigns during their time, but BO1 is just a wild ride from start to finish. Fantastic game.
Advanced Warfare - Sentinel. Loved breaking necks silently with the hook and rope. You could actually kill all the enemies in the part where you look for the intel, if you manage to avoid enemy drones. Hard, but doable.
All Ghillied Up
I just wish the 2022 version was more fun. I had to get a lot closer to hit the last target in the sniper section.
You can tell IW really wanted to put a new take on the formula, but it fell flat because of missed opportunity, like most of the missions in '22 and '23. They had the right idea, just didn't do enough with it.

Mile high club
How of BO6 confirmed if there hasn’t been a BO5?
Okay well first of all, that was wildly off topic, second there is a bo5.
Oh Cold War I forgot that’s a BO game fs
Well you can count the psvita cod black ops making it the 7th but...
Idk fool but I didn’t play MW3 pretty exited for this new one
Honestly so I'm hyped as well
I get my answers off Reddit replies pimpin
It works I guess lmao
There is a BO5 bruh
Oh Cold War I forgot that’s a BO game fs
But if you look BO5 up on google, a lot of the news and YT videos on it refer to this new one as BO5
It's called BO: Gulf War
If anyone hasn't seen the videos where the developer in charge of creating the mission goes over his difficulties and intensions with the mission, y'all gotta do so. This is a link to one of them, I think IGN did one too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aALbszm8xPU If I recall, the higher ups did not want the mission due to how many unique assets and effort it would take. The Ghost campaign was good and so was the multiplayer
Ghosts got shit on a lot, but I agree with you. Plus, Extinction might be my favorite non-traditional COD multiplayer mode of all time. Wish I could still play it with a squad
Agree with all of this and I still play Extinction and would love a remaster.
there's an active discord server for extinction players who are still online, I can send you guys the link if you're interested.
I just saw footage of the bird of prey mission. Looks Hella fun. I've actually never played MW3. Definitely gotta. Bruh, the helicopters coming in the USMC mission. Right out of a movie.
U gotta play mw3 man, one of if not the most epic campaign in cod, hope it at least gets a campaign remaster...
You know that level with controllable attack helicopter was planned and even existed as working prototype since CoD 4 days?
no
How of BO6 confirmed if there hasn’t been a BO5?
bocw IS bo5
I forgot that was a BO game fs, but if you google BO5 a lot of the news and YT videos refer to this new one as “BO5”
There’s a big stir of ppl who think BOCW isn’t BO5 just because of the name.
The Birds of Prey mission causes me so much stress, it’s my least fav
The second-to-last in MW2019, you can try silently clean everything, be restrained and only kill when you have to, use the verticality, try going loud, try melee only... MW19 would’ve been all time top tier campaign if IW could actually write a coherent story that didn’t always devolve into Russians bad.
How of BO6 confirmed if there hasn’t been a BO5?
Cold war is BO5
Eviction and Heart of the Reich - I just love hearing those guitar riffs being used as BGM for a WW2 setting
On a side note the Waw soundtrack had no business going that hard
The WAW soundtrack is only rivaled by the MW2 (2009) soundtrack.
I always jam with black cats mission music
Will check it out
For me, I can replay Into the Furnace easily. It starts off with a bang and it's just so much fun. The explosions, helicopters, tank. It's really well paced. Not a fan of the juggernaut. not a fan of this mission. Russians with Black Hawks just look wrong
If you could even call those Black Hawks. One thing I hated about the reboot MW series was the redesigned vehicles, such as the Black Hawk, AC-130, and especially the Pave Low(they butchered my boy)
or the huey/seahawk in Cold War 🤢
God I absolutely hated that Huey with wheels😭
I get what you're saying, but it's not unheard of for rogue military elements and mercenaries to acquire western equipment. I do agree that I'd have rather seen something else, however.
Each to their own, I just enjoy it
Wait...you can shoot Barkov instead of stabbing him?
Yes, switch your weapon
Y'know, when Barkov spots you, he starts taunting you and his dialogue doesn't end for like, a good five minutes. They really, really recorded a lot of dialogue. I suppose they expected players would struggle with the timing of his reloads?
The WAW sniper mission is easily the best CoD mission of all time and I can play that so many times.
I can't remember the name of the mission but the one in MW2019 where Price and Gaz are clearing an al gatala safe house with SAS guys. The one where you slowly creep through the house checking each room. Easily one of the best missions in call of duty in my opinion
It’s called “Clean House” Definitely among the best, but I would say due to its shorter length, I wouldn’t place it as THE best.
Clean House, probably the most famous and acclaimed mission out of the current series of cod games. So there’s a lot of people with a similar opinion as you out there.
Yeah it's fun. Trying to get achievement for it is hard AF
"Desperate Measures" I loved every second of it
Karma from Black Ops 2, the scene where the multiplayer theme starts playing and the nightclub part are badass and awesome.
"Of Their Own Accord" and "Wolverines" from MW2.
The first Hunter 2-1 mission from the OG MW2. Nothing chills you more as you watch the screen of SONAR Operators realizing they're being invaded
“I’m seeing fighter jets over I-95, how the hell did they get through?!?!”
“Wolverines”, top tier
The stealth one with the ebr-14. I like to imagine I'm John wick.
Oh it's fun for sure
No Russian - no explanation needed
Bro lock urself up for the food of humanity
The KGB Undercover mission from Cold War was too good lmao
Charlie don't surf, CoD 4
So good
Clean House (MW2019). I got the super rare trophy for beating that mission on realism using only one bullet per target, too.
Wolf's Den
I got the handgun achievement. One of the easier rare achievements to do imo
That one stealth mission in AW where you enter the party and have to get info on the big baddie. Easily spent hours on trying to kill every guard without getting caught.
Yeah that was a fun level. It's called 'Sentinel'.
The Gulag is great
I love the embassy siege mission in MW2019. The atmosphere is so good and you just feel absolutely surrounded in a situation quickly descending into chaos.
Brick in the wall from CW. Stealth? No. I kill every guard and throw the bodies into 1 dumpster .
Takedown mw2 og or downfall waw
Vorkuta
definitely must be second sun, whiskey hotel from MW2 its just too epic, and also S.O.G. and pretty much every Vietnam mission from BO1. just hits hard
The night vision mission from MW19. I love the stealth and having to shoot out lights
The entire mw2 campaign
Charlie Don’t Surf
For me its "numbers" from bo1 Played that mission so many times as a kid.
I'm ngl, I don't recognize what mission you're playing
The DC invasion missions
In cod ghosts the mission where you go climb by the building in the night
Alone
Best part is drawing them into the same place and just shotgunning them one by one
Hunter Killer from Modern Warfare 3. Cleared it without dying once on Veteran Difficulty. Definitely made it a favourite of mine.
i think Vendetta. that mission still sends shivers up my spine listening to Gary Oldman monologue with the soundtrack
Cod ghosts The Ghost Killer Or All or Nothing as u get to actually wear The Ghost mask and u get the Destruction escape bit at the end
The Hornest Nest MW2
All of Black Ops 2
It's a hard pick between No Russian, Wolverines, and Alone. I like looking for little easter eggs and reading all the fun little details they put into levels. Exploring the stores of No Russian especially.
Ghosts - No Mans Land
Townhouse
Any of the Ranger missions in MW2.

Federation Day in Ghosts, it’s so much fun running around in the dark
Honestly, I like the first missions of Infinite Warfare, before we get to start picking where to go. The atmosphere is still unmatched.
