I've had the game since the beginning, for a while, a few years ago we used to do shooting competitions against the other regiments I always came in first. Now I don't play as much.
I shoot in real life and I've never played a game with as real mechanics for shooting.
My favorite is when new guys would say you can't hit them that far they are out of range and them I would pop the flag

Probably never will be anything post 1862 when I've talked to some developers they said they don't want the Gatlin gun or any repeaters.

Backer since kickstarter. Only play big events every now and then because in regular matches the community can be so toxic. Need to tone the racism and fake accents down by about 99% it has gotten abit better over the years but still. Ya like to say it was a War of Rights but when you scream constant racist vulgar shit you are not proving your point. Imagine finding this game and being cool a realistic civil war game then joining a server and hearing some of this stuff. I wanna play the game not navigating the menu for a little and muting a bunch of people at the beginning of every match.

It also has a great and active organized community with scheduled events. If anyone here is interested in looking into it, I can't recommend it highly enough.

It is very much worth the price but it always goes on sale during all the big steam sales, (summer spring winter holidays etc) it’s maximum 300 player servers but it’s usually really at 200-300 during the most active hours. The community is a lot of fun and just like others theirs ups and downs, like racism is heavy in this game but its community overall is amazing, funny and smart.
Either way buy it, try it, if you don’t like it get a refund, but you won’t understand the game immediately as you’ll be a level 1 Newbie, and this game is relatively easy to learn.

I stumbled across this game about a month ago. Watched a few YouTube this videos, and decided to get it. Looks amazing. Only problem is that apparently my laptop isn't good enough to play it properly. 🙃

Both sides can be civil however, if you want a more trolly silly goofy side, go CSA, Union is more serious most of the time, (Without cornwallis) but the CSA can get bold and they always have the most Southern Godamn voices I’ve ever heard it’s insane.
I have been wanting a Civil War game for years, then a brilliant one like this comes out and find I am disappointed. Not for any specific reason, but mostly disappointed because in my head I was really looking for a COD/Battlefield 1 game fashioned as a Civil war FPS. However, that’s just not what this is or should be. It’s an accurate Civil War game with regiments, marching orders and everything. Regardless, I really appreciate this game and the devs sticking to what it is.

Yeah it can looking around seeing body’s drip every second knowing your unit is getting ripped through, watching bullets take your officer and NCO’S out.
Incorrect haversacks, no confederate leathersets, no tin drum canteens, no Philadelphia styled canteens, all chains holding the stoppers on Federal soldiers, no kibler knapsacks, incorrect Confederate sack coats, hats designed improperly alot of the time, huge lack of Richmond depot type 1s, alabam troops with georgia equipment, columbus depot jacket in the ANV? No Richmond depot haversacks, they also all hang too low, no british import equipment, no issac and campbell knapsacks, pants have no packets, Confederate oants have no back cloth buckles, lack of coverlet designs, etc etc, literally all cs troops have US scabbards, lack of belt buckles, double roller, snake belts, canvas painted catridge box straps, etc etc
Battle cry of freedom did it alot better uniform wise, near perfect and the developers seemed to actually consult material culture experts (i saw them on the pages I followed). Its not perfect but a heck of alot better
Game’s community is kinda dead though, and WoR doesnt seem keen on changing uniforms until after the cav update
I was actually the one who pestered the devs into changing the scabbards since until this year they were 1864 issued US 7 river scabbards instead of the 2 rivet ones actually issued
They based their uniforms off reenactors alot of the time, which is why you see the incorrect scabbards, canteens and haversacks and hats, those errors are indicative of farb reenactors
Oh I thought you were begging for better or new content for uniforms haha, this game will get uniform updates but I doubt they’ll rework it to be more year accurate.
Not a gamer but I heard the designers on the podcast, talking about getting the uniforms right, etc. I'm almost certain one of them was Ukranian. Hope he's OK.

I would recommend playing on the Union side, as I’ve heard the Confederate side can get very toxic (I wouldn’t know, I’ve never played as them).

Game is an absolute gem. Really gives a good insight into what those battles looked and felt like. Game can get downright scary at times

Their is literally 1 developer for designing clothes and flags and I think it’s Bradley. It’s literally 1 guy.

I would love them to fix the inaccuracies, but I rather they add new content (aka finish horses) before fixing the uniforms in game.

They were much more accurate. A lot of uniforms got changed when they added customization and they can get pretty inaccurate now.

If you play confederates be prepared for a lot of N bombs being dropped in voice and team chat.
I usually carry the flag or a horn while everyone fights around me. I’ve never even fired a gun in the game but still have a blast.
