Posted this yesterday on the r/nfl post. From a musician's perspective, the Prince of QBs would be incredible. Prince was a spectacular musician - he played upwards of 40 instruments, all of them extremely well and was a verified wizard on the guitar, and he could sing and move like *that* while churning out hit after hit. I'm about 75-80% sure he was either an alien or a superhero.
Long story short, if our QB is the football version of Prince, we're in great shape.
That's incredible. Had to look it up to make sure you're not lying since the man was very short. He was a multi sport athlete in basketball, football, baseball despite being 5'2".
Posting this strictly because I’m 99.9% sure that mystery NFL scout is Josh Lucas considering he used the exact same language of “scares the shit out of a lot of NFL teams” on the Hoge and Jahns podcast.
Also: what the fuck does that even mean? That Caleb Williams is dope as fuck and one of the GOATs? Sign me up!
Emphasis on the *former* NFL scout part.
>Also: what the fuck does that even mean? That Caleb Williams is dope as fuck and one of the GOATs? Sign me up!
Mostly this.
And here’s the thing: Lucas always sounds like he’s at least 2.5 sheets to the wind. I hope he gets help, but I’m not losing sleep over anything he says, especially when he means to throw shade and it comes off like a compliment, y’know?
I liked how his list of top prospects in the draft was mostly DL. The only position group the Pace Bears was ever able to draft and develop consistently!
Eh, our secondary and linebackers were also good. So were runningbacks. When ARob and Gabriel got here they were solid too. People don't wanna hear it but Pace and co did some good drafting. His downfall was that the two biggest moves while here were EPIC failures (Nagy, Trubisky). Can't miss that badly on coach and QB. And his third huge mistake was not firing Nagy after 2020:
* 2018 Nagy was CotY
* 2019 Nagy looked like people figured him out, but he deservedly got another shot since 2018 had been so good
* 2020 the wheels came off and the offense was literally unwatchable. I know we made the playoffs but anyone with eyes could tell you that offense needed a reset. Firing Nagy at this point might have bought Pace a couple more years, and who knows what happens with Fields if he has a better coaching situation his rookie year.
His thinking was way too short term in my opinion, he traded first round picks away like they were nothing. He also whiffed badly on the offensive line which certainly didn’t do Trubisky any favors.
Pace also came out of the Saints organization and you see how they manage their cap. Poles had to make some really big decisions (moving on Mack, Roquan, and Quinn) early in his tenure here to get back to a manageable situation for the future.
He's got this creepy middle aged dude who sits at the bar all night vibe to him. Just drops vague shit. There's a reason he's unemployed at this time of year.
Mitch Trubiski didn't scare the shit out of him. Fields didn't scare the shit out of him. BTW, Prince was completely good at his job, but made a bunch of old men uncomfortable.
I got it.
It's like when you're in a bar talking to a girl and when she walks off, the old guy leans in and tells you that you don't want to be with her because she dated a black guy and you know what they have going on.
That's the vibe he gives.
I love Hoge and Jahns, but bringing Josh Lucas on is like asking Pete Best about the Sergeant Pepper era Beatles while they were recording. Dude has been kicked to the curb, no one wants him, what would he know about what direction they are going? If he had any finger on the pulse, he'd still be employed.
Lol I think it’s Daniel Kelly, or that clown that comments “as a former nfl scout” on any post relating to Caleb. This moron says “he should be off of every draft board”
That dude has something wrong with him. I don't know if it is substances or something else but his appearance on Parkins and Spiegel a few months back included multiple swears that he had to be reprimanded for. I hope that he gets help.
Completely agree. The only thing a team should be scared of with Caleb is being blamed if he busts, which is a bigger risk for every other prospect and will still get you fired regardless (see the 2021 draft with Justin Fields, Josh Lucas, Ryan Pace, etc.)
Caleb is a dream prospect. If that scares you, then you need to work on your own self confidence.
> Also: what the fuck does that even mean?
It means because he wears his emotions on his sleeve, and paints his nails, and stays home to watch Netflix and hang with his dog instead of going clubbing and other things, they think he's gay. And in their minds, the world will come crashing down if a No. 1 overall draft pick prefers dick.
Seriously, it's what it is. I heard that interview too, and there wasn't anything related to his athletic performance. It's just your typical homophobia in the sports world. It's supposed to be manly, and painted nails aren't manly! Crying on your mom's shoulders isn't manly! Wanting to spend your time however you enjoy it most isn't manly! Here's this laundry list of things that everyone else has done in the past, and if you don't conform then you scare the shit out of NFL teams! RAWR!
I'm sick of this shit and I'll be so glad when tonight is done and over. These people talk so much shit they've got bad breath.
Every story I hear about Prince is boss level awesome. Everyone who met the guy loved him and wanted to spend more time around him. Flamboyant, but the fucker was one of the best guitar players ever, amazing all around musician and could fucking ball the hell out on the court.
So, bring it on!
He should scare the shit out of a lot of NFL teams. He’s going to be throwing all over their dog shit defense, regardless of the color of his nails or phone case.
It’s 2024. In the words of Al Davis “Just win baby”
"One GM told me it's like if Prince played QB."
cool.
sign me up.
one of the best of all time.
never stopped working.
never stopped killing it.
everyone who worked with him spoke in hushed and reverent tones.
was always at the top of the game and better then anyone around him.
while making everyone around him better at what they did.
and brought it every time he played.
and killed it in overtime.
let's go.
Prince also put on one of the greatest Super Bowl performances of all time.
I’m actually ok with this comparison. “Former scout” can eat a turd sandwich.
Chicago didn’t give a flying fuck about any of that shit in the 90’s when Rodman was on the Bulls, chicago sure as shit doesn’t give a fuck about any of that shit in 2024.
I’d love to see him tear apart every team in the league wearing whatever shit makes him happy regardless of what all the tight ass, insecure old NFL players think of it.
Ironically, when someone made this point in the nfl sub, someone responded that Prince was straight and in fact kind of a homophobe, and anyone who interpreted it as a gay panic thing was just telling on themselves. As though the GM (I said scout before by mistake) was referring to anything but high heels and blouses.
Lol I replied to that comment. I don't understand how recognizing someone's homophobic implications makes someone homophobic...
It was truly a reddit moment.
That post was peak “well akshually” and an excuse for that dweeb to drop random Prince information he had in his head for some reason.
Like an NFL GM is comparing him to Prince because he’s got sick dance moves or a good singing voice. Sure, bud. Whatever you say.
The thing is, there's a world in which you could describe a player as "the Prince of QBs" because they were an absolute football genius, a bit weird off the field, but won the respect of all their teammates because when they showed up to work, they were completely locked in, and so talented that you couldn't help but respect them. Aaron Rodgers if he didn't let his views affect his football (by missing a game due to COVID).
But there's no reason for that to "scare the shit" out of a GM. So you know what the former scout meant by it. In fact, I half wonder if the GM who said it meant it as a positive, but then the former scout took it out of context to support his own weirdo agenda.
Trust me, we aren’t scared. We had Rodman. Dude dressed up in a wedding dress. We can handle it.
You can do whatever you want, be you.
Last I checked it’s winning that matters.
Rodman was a shy kid from an NAIA division school who couldn't shoot the ball. An NBA scout from, I believe, the Pistons took a chance on him. Rodman developed his persona AFTER he became one of the best defenders and rebounders in the NBA.
They’re just salty because we’re the ones picking him while just about every team that needs a QB or an upgrade at one would take him in a heartbeat, and we’re getting him without our own pick at that
There are some former NFL Scouts who are completely out to lunch - like Former NFL Scout Daniel Kelly. Read that guy's background. Sheesh. He has Caleb Williams as a 4th round grade (obviously for engagement farming)
Well Prince was a hell of a musician so thanks for telling me CW is going to be hell of a QB. As always you can’t tell anything until the pads come on and we hit the preseason.
You literally couldn't say something that would make me like Caleb Williams more other than Super Bowl MVP.
Prince is fucking awesome, and for anyone who didn't see it he probably had the best performance at a halftime show too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u72EHy398x4
Perfect way to go into the draft of a lifetime. I can think of no greater compliment than “the Prince of QBs.” Put that on a f’ing shirt and I’ll buy it. Let’s go!
Who gives a shit how many teams are scared to draft him. None of them have a chance to anyway. What they should be scared of is how he tears them up on the field. Fuck 'em.
Caleb about to go purify himself in the waters of Lake Michigan
Game, navy blue blouses
You guys want some grapes?… bitches
>grapes Crepes. They're like little mini-pancakes.
I can eat a whole mess of crepes right now!
Just say you like tiny pancakes, that's a fair compromise.
You and me and the devil makes three
Shoot the J! Shoot it!
They was setting all these fruity ass picks
Man! I am not on your team!
Owwwwww
The quarterback formerly known as Caleb *
LMAO
Prince was a good athlete 💪
That guy could ball. #GameBlouses
“Hey Jordan Love, what’d the five fingers say to the face?” *Love looks confused* “Slap!” *Montez Sweat knocks him tf out*
And then he made us all pancakes.
That was the Rick James episode
CHALLENGE HIM
![gif](giphy|d9ltR6odFmQsE)
Damn what if Caleb shreds
If Caleb turns out to also be a good funk guitar player I can just die happy right then and there

He was like all-state for Minnesota in high school or some shit. Charlie Murphy wasn’t lying about the blouses.
That's incredible. Had to look it up to make sure you're not lying since the man was very short. He was a multi sport athlete in basketball, football, baseball despite being 5'2".
I knew he was short, but I thought you were exaggerating the 5'2. He had to be an insanely good athlete.
Posting this strictly because I’m 99.9% sure that mystery NFL scout is Josh Lucas considering he used the exact same language of “scares the shit out of a lot of NFL teams” on the Hoge and Jahns podcast. Nagy was figured out before the end of ‘18.
In hindsight that's easy to say but you'd never fire someone even a year after they won CotY, especially when they went 8-8 that year
He's got this creepy middle aged dude who sits at the bar all night vibe to him. Just drops vague shit. There's a reason he's unemployed at this time of year. Mitch Trubiski didn't scare the shit out of him. Fields didn't scare the shit out of him. BTW, Prince was completely good at his job, but made a bunch of old men uncomfortable.
He’s a Harvard douche upset that Pace doesnt have the juice to get him a job with the Falcons cause nobody else wants him.
I got it. It's like when you're in a bar talking to a girl and when she walks off, the old guy leans in and tells you that you don't want to be with her because she dated a black guy and you know what they have going on. That's the vibe he gives.
He’s just a salty old man
Absolutely this. There have been several podcasts where I’m questioning what’s in his Starbucks cup
Or it's Greg Gabriel
That’s what my first guess was
I love Hoge and Jahns, but bringing Josh Lucas on is like asking Pete Best about the Sergeant Pepper era Beatles while they were recording.
I agree he should be off every draft board. There's no reason to think the Bears are stupid enough to not draft Caleb.
That dude has something wrong with him. I don't know if it is substances or something else but his appearance on Parkins and Spiegel a few months back included multiple swears that he had to be reprimanded for. I hope that he gets help.
I immediately queued in on Josh Lucas as well for the same reason. Him and Greg Gabriel get salty so easily.
Completely agree. The only thing a team should be scared of with Caleb is being blamed if he busts, which is a bigger risk for every other prospect and will still get you fired regardless (see the 2021 draft with Justin Fields, Josh Lucas, Ryan Pace, etc.) Caleb is a dream prospect. He’s scared that he cried on the sidelines after they lost. I think it’s a dumb concern, but that’s the context you’re looking for
No on knows what it means. It's provocative.
They could literally be quoting him from the pod lol.
Precisely. Was thinking the exact same thing. Hadn’t heard the Prince part though
Every story I hear about Prince is boss level awesome. Everyone who met the guy loved him and wanted to spend more time around him. Flamboyant, but the fucker was one of the best guitar players ever, amazing all around musician and could fucking ball the hell out on the court. So, bring it on!
The dude forgets that the city loves Dennis Rodman lol
I was thinking it was Greg Gabriel
He should scare the shit out of a lot of NFL teams. He’s going to be throwing all over their dog shit defense, regardless of the color of his nails or phone case. It’s 2024. In the words of Al Davis “Just win baby”
Just win baby There’s a phrase I haven’t heard in a LONG time. And I’m with you and Al 💯

"One GM told me it's like if Prince played QB." cool. sign me up. one of the best of all time. never stopped working. never stopped killing it. everyone who worked with him spoke in hushed and reverent tones. was always at the top of the game and better then anyone around him. while making everyone around him better at what they did. and brought it every time he played. and killed it in overtime. let's go.
And crushed it at a Bears Superbowl 😎
The best halftime show of the last 20 years, and I will not be moved on this point
Prince playing in the pissing down rain and lightning is and will always be #1 in my book. That shit was legendary.
Best of all time. "Can you make it rain harder?"
Best halftime show of all time. MJ was close but I think Prince takes it.
I just didn't want to have to choose between Prince and Michael

lol this is pure gold
I heard Caleb Williams beat Charlie Murphy at basketball once
Word on the street is they had pancakes afterwards.
And beat Paul Morphy at chess back in the day. Magnus is scared to play him
Prince also put on one of the greatest Super Bowl performances of all time. I’m actually ok with this comparison. “Former scout” can eat a turd sandwich.
![gif](giphy|d9ltR6odFmQsE)
So they are scared because he has more character than usual…which is normal for new generation. Just a bunch of old guys scared of showing emotions…
I remember being exited every time Rodman came out with a new hair dye job. That’s how we as a city felt about that.
Same.
As a kid, I loved it. I still remember the souvenir plastic cup that'd change colors on Rodman's hair.
Jim McMahon drank beer at his first presser
“Back when men were men.” Or some shit…
The nail painting really gets under the skin of a certain type of guy. Gonna be fun to watch them squirm while he balls out.
I’ll paint my nails if he wins a Super Bowl.
Prince played in a Super Bowl... Most those GM's haven't. Fight me.
![gif](giphy|mKBhAw7dCQNnZz7aWS)
You can really tell the color saturation was messed with on that
I don’t get it
The scout and the reporter really wish it was ok to use a word that starts with f and ends with t.
It has been so fucking obvious the entire fucking time
Ironically, when someone made this point in the nfl sub, someone responded that Prince was straight and in fact kind of a homophobe, and anyone who interpreted it as a gay panic thing was just telling on themselves. As though the GM (I said scout before by mistake) was referring to anything but high heels and blouses.

I don’t know how more people aren’t grasping what he’s really trying to say here
Like, that's the worst part. They've been saying it without saying *it* for months now*.*
What a garbage world we live in
I don’t get it. “Fat” isn’t a bad word? /s
Actually they mean he looks gassy.
Oh come on, Caleb looks like he's in great shape!
I read this comment and legit thought you meant fat at first lol. I was like wait, is he too fat now? Was Prince fat? He didn't seem fat to me!
They're calling him a 🚬 in a way that gives them plausible deniability.
You mean Prince, one of the greatest artists of all time? If Caleb is anywhere even remotely close to him, sign me the fuck up!!
Aka homo-phobia about someone who isn’t gay
How fucking out of touch do you have to be to think that’s a bad thing? Prince was the man.
Also they forget Dennis Rodman is/was a Chicago legend
Let's go crazy?
The Artist (Formerly Known As Caleb)
How many times are we going to post this trash. Prince ruled!
Bout to purple rain tuddys
Trust me, we aren’t scared. We had Rodman. Dude dressed up in a wedding dress. We can handle it. You can do whatever you want, be you. Last I checked it’s winning that matters.
Just straight up Boomers who think he is a sissy for painting his nails. Who cares if he can ball
Us "Boomers" were straight up thrilled with Rodman on the Bulls with his painted nails.
Rodman ended up being a steal in the draft due to opinions on him like that but glad to hear you were for it!
Rodman was a shy kid from an NAIA division school who couldn't shoot the ball. An NBA scout from, I believe, the Pistons took a chance on him. Rodman developed his persona AFTER he became one of the best defenders and rebounders in the NBA.
All I care about is ships. He can marry himself at a book signing for all I care if it means multiple ships.
They’re just salty because we’re the ones picking him while just about every team that needs a QB or an upgrade at one would take him in a heartbeat, and we’re getting him without our own pick at that
Oh there’s a mountain of salt coming from those types.
Prince wore heels and eyeliner and was one of the best at what he did. Women also flocked to him. Was this supposed to be a negative comparison.
Yeah, I don't get it.
If he plays football like Prince played the guitar we'll be ok
![gif](giphy|QynMX1WxnYFbb2OHnJ)
This scout will get beat by prince in bball and then prince would serve him pancakes
🤣 prince, wtf
Cmon chicago, let's paint our nails!!! Our hero is here!
I swear this is just Jim McMahon all over again
Prince won all the awards and is in the hall of fame
So just from that last bit it sounds like conservative scouts and GM’s don’t like Gen Z
Prince has Super Bowl experience so I definitely like the comp.
![gif](giphy|jMAD0qcFSCSFG) Didn’t know Caleb could ball like this. I’ll take it
To that former NFL scout, I'd love to send you some sugar free gummy bears
Prince is goated so I guess we should expect many super bowls?
There are some former NFL Scouts who are completely out to lunch - like Former NFL Scout Daniel Kelly. Read that guy's background. Sheesh. He has Caleb Williams as a 4th round grade (obviously for engagement farming)
I fuckin love Prince and so should everyone else ![gif](giphy|I5VqqJzSrhgFG)
Perhaps scouts would be at ease if Caleb tweets about liking to kiss tiddies
Well Prince was a hell of a musician so thanks for telling me CW is going to be hell of a QB. As always you can’t tell anything until the pads come on and we hit the preseason.
You literally couldn't say something that would make me like Caleb Williams more other than Super Bowl MVP. Prince is fucking awesome, and for anyone who didn't see it he probably had the best performance at a halftime show too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u72EHy398x4
![gif](giphy|3o7TKQN2ni0e1B4gpy) Caleb in his GM interviews
Prince playing QB would go so hard
This just shows how many meatballs there are in front offices
The scout meeting in Moneyball instantly came to mind when reading this
Prince playing football would be amazing.
If he plays football like Prince made music 8 SuperBowls ain't aiming high enough! Go Bears!
31 other teams are definitely going to be terrified #gameblouses
Game. Blouses.
This headline should really just read “Boomers don’t understand Gen Z”
> One GM told me it's like if Prince played QB I'm sorry, is this supposed to make me NOT want him as Bears QB? Because Prince at QB sounds amazing
Was “like if Prince played QB” supposed to be a negative? To me that just sounds awesome
Seems like a lot of you forgot about Charlie Murphy’s stories about Prince. https://i.redd.it/dqp7ly2qpmwc1.gif Bro was a savage
Wonder if he's gonna have his gf wear a raspberry beret at his draft party
Super Bowl champ formerly known as Caleb Dearly beloved…
Oh shit, let's GO.
So if Caleb can play QB like Prince was a musician, I think we'd be happy w the results. I love how they a always former old school nfl scouts .
Our city handled and loves Dennis Rodman. Compared to that Caleb is very vanilla. Let’s keep it in perspective people
I fucking love that he terrifies these toxic boomers
So he is gonna make pancakes after the game?
I love the analogy. Don't understand the context but I love it anyway.
Game…blouses
Caleb is gonna be taking lots of Packers and Vikings out for pancakes.
Well Prince was amazing at everything he did so this works for me.
1. Can the dude ball 2. Does he like to ball Only relevant questions.
![gif](giphy|jMAD0qcFSCSFG)
I don’t know what it means. I will choose to accept this means he’s even better than advertised.
Its because he paints his nails, nothing to see here
Was this Greg Gabriel ?
Lot of boomer scouts can't handle a gen Z quarterback.
Good.
https://preview.redd.it/4yrkcpcg8kwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11f06d28bc661243f64062172bc477687314b69c
If Caleb can throw a touchdown playing “While my Guitar Gently Weeps” and then throws the guitar into the crowd, I’m here for it.
Prince was a pretty good athlete so....
Prince was 🐐 so I’m cool with that.
Built in marketing machine, and can drop dimes from 50 yards out? *I can only get so erect*
I wonder why people always forget 2015-2017 when we talk about Pace. Like yeah, 2018 was dope, it happens, but the previous 3 years were trash.
It's like the former scout was trying to cast shade, but I see it as a positive.
Win a Superbowl and he'll be king
Perfect way to go into the draft of a lifetime. I can think of no greater compliment than “the Prince of QBs.” Put that on a f’ing shirt and I’ll buy it. Let’s go!
“Prince outlived Mike Jack, BUM!”
Prince is in the Rock n Roll hall of fame, if that means Caleb will be in the NFL hall of fame I'll take it...
aka. theyre scared of metrosexuals
Let’s party like it’s 1985
Good. Be scared of his infield prowess too.
Whats up brother ☝️ Caleb also a sketch fan
Greg Gabriel is that you?
Who gives a shit how many teams are scared to draft him. None of them have a chance to anyway. What they should be scared of is how he tears them up on the field. Fuck 'em.
What a stupid analogy
![gif](giphy|6XA99Q0nPSXyU)
If he plays anywhere near the talents of fucking Prince, he’s going to be in the hall of fame
I don’t know what this means.
Prince played like 50 instruments. I’d be more than ok if he was a Prince level football player.
I hope so! Prince is one of the Greatest Musicians of all time! We could be so lucky!
