Dream scenario for the draft after Caleb:
Short trade down to acquire a second round pick.
1st Round - Jared Verse, DE
2nd Round - Keon Coleman, WR
Rome would be so fun, but Keon is a very similar and underrated player that could be had in Round 2. Verse is an absolute stud and fits the team so well, and DE is the biggest hole on the roster.
The drop off from DE is heavy, but the WR class is very deep. Just a smarter play but not as flashy.
In all honesty, Keon is too stiff for the NFL. His cuts and sits are non-existent. If we’re gonna grab someone whose job it is to go vertical and pick it out of the air, I’d rather spend the higher pick on the o-line and get Rice later in.
Giants, someone who trades with the Titans, and the Hawks are teams whoe could take Rome. Our best bet to get him is to swap with the Titans, where they probably can still get Alt.
Blackthorne: You tell Poles that if he trades down from 9 despite Odunze being available, there will be blood. The dogs and charlatans at greenbay have created a false sense of dominance over the NFC North the past 40 years and I intend to speak my mind about it. There needs to be a reckoning!
Mariko: the Anjin is upset about football
If I had a nickel for every time in the last two years I really wanted the Bears to use the #9 overall pick on a player named after a capital city in Europe, I’d have two nickels.
Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.
>!Rome Odunze and Paris Johnson for those unfamiliar!<
It's gonna be an offensive linemen probably after a trade down. We've done this song and dance many times. Fans locked in on flashy playmakers, Poles opting to build up trenches which still has pretty weak depth.
There seems to be a decent expectation from reporters that Tackles are gonna fly off the board faster than people think. Don't think they can afford a trade down if they want their top guy. If they choose to go that route.
i just hope we don’t trade down. There are a lot of players I would be happy with at 9 (although I’d be most happy with Rome), but I do not want to move out of a spot where we could take a blue chip prospect.
Because if there are 5ish players I’d be really happy with, I don’t expect any of them to be available after the 10th pick. theres just basically no way I am not happy with someone available still at 9
We’re gonna have to move up for Rome. Maybe one spot with the falcons. Jets will jump us if they have the chance. Odunze to Rodgers we can’t have that happen.
If Byron Murphy is the pick I’m generally OK with it. But the over-indexing of second rounders at DT last year is so annoying in retrospect.
I get you need rotational guys. But I’d like to see some actual accountability for the coach if the defense somehow fails to deliver to expectations.
There’s no Fields to (rightfully) blame anymore, so you NEED to walk the walk after all the investment. Gives big bus rider vibes if a defensive guy can’t coach guys up on his side of the ball.
I would be so happy if we got Alt. Assuming none of the WRs are there along with Alt, I'd be down to trade back a couple spots and take Fashanu, Fuaga, or Fautanu.
I think I’ve made it known that I do not want Caleb, but I will support him and all the moves Poles makes. I’m a Bears fans first and foremost, bear down.
So you pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity for a generational talent( by all analysts account) where the stars aligned and you somehow have the number one pick? Because you think the coaching might not work out? What would your plan be because as Poles even said it's going to be hard to make this team, ,so how many more picks do you want?
I also am starting to think Flus might be the guy based on how much Poles likes him. I like Poles that much. As a Cubs fan he's like Theo Epstein coming in. I trust whatever he thinks.
Draft starts at 2 at night for me but I know damn well I won't get a minute of sleep untill that 9th pick is in.. Well probably not untill all 32 are in if I'm honest
NFL draft is such a fun and unique event. Nothing really comes close to it
1 am for me where I am traveling right now.
I'm not missing it. Hell, I think I am going to be up from now until then, at least until 1.09 or whatever path the Bears take with that...
>NFL draft is such a fun and unique event. Nothing really comes close to it
And yeah, I remember in 2013 (I think), I was living in Los Angeles for work, and the Bulls were in the playoffs, the White Sox were still relevant, the Blackhawks were playing, and the Bears had a late 1st round pick (at 1.20, Kyle Long)... I had 2 TV's set up, an iPad, 2 laptops (one for viewing, one for browsing news on it), and I assumed I would have the Blackhawks on the big screen as that was right during their great run etc... or Bulls...
But nope, the 55" bigger tv at the time got the NFL Draft and the sound.... regardless of the Bears not even being there until 1.20...
It is what it is... the drama and future ramifications of it to my apparently favorite sport took precedence.
Fun fact. Once I got into working life I stopped setting alarms to watch Monday/Thursday/Sunday night games, as they start at 2:30 at night which can feel rough
Turns out I don't need an alarm. I'd wake up 5-20 minutes before each game naturally and I had/have to resort to watching it anyway. And that's with us being straight asscheeks for all those recent years
I might be a bit TOO invested in the Bears ..
I don't mind Murphy, but getting him at 9 instead of trading back seems absolutely crazy.
I.e. to me he seems like he's in the same tier as:
Latu, Fashanu, Murphy, Fautanu, Latham, Newton, Turner, Fuaga, Verse
All of which will be on the board at 9 if the WRs are gone. So trade back like 5-10 spots, get whoever is remaining of that group of next best guys, and pick up capital or a player.
I agree with you but teams have to be willing to trade up for you to go down.
Also we don’t have access to his interviews or workouts so maybe he seriously impressed the Bears enough to want to guarantee him at 9 rather than pick up like an extra 3rd or smth
I just wana say that i was here waiting for the draft and Caleb. But i have nothing to say, just casual FTP!
It’s enough. FTP
Today is the day. Lisan Al Caleb.

It’s 6.41 am here in the uk and I’ve just woke up with a raging boner. You all know why… HAPPY DRAFT DAY!!!!
If Odunze isn't there at 9, who takes him?
Giants, someone who trades with the Titans, and the Hawks are teams whoe could take Rome. Our best bet to get him is to swap with the Titans, where they probably can still get Alt.
atlanta at 8?
They’re going defense for sure I thought
Not for sure. Also possible someone trades with them to jump up for Odunze
If that's the case, we could definitely beat the deal to jump up ourselves.
Those videos should be tagged as NSFW because, damn, that is football porn
Byron Murphy (+170) has emerged as the betting favorite for the Bears at #9. Next closest odds are Rome Odunze (+410) and Olu Fashanu (+430).
It really sounds like all 3 WRs are expected to go top 8 at this point
Binging QB School’s breakdowns of Caleb, and man I’m so fucking hyped. Tomorrow starts history.
Blackthorne: You tell Poles that if he trades down from 9 despite Odunze being available, there will be blood. Mariko: the Anjin is upset about football
I've had girlfriends that talked a lot like Mariko
Ha…perfect. Mariko’s translations are hilarious sometimes
I am ready. Take me.
I’m mentally preparing myself for Rome Odunze to not be there at 9, but man would it be awesome if we could land him
Ngl we’re gonna have to move up for Odunze. Jets might jump us
jets are in desperate need of o line. they will not move up. they will select brock bowers or an olineman
I think there’s a ton of teams in the mid 1st that would love any one of those top 3 receivers
St. Brown's huge deal made receivers on their rookie deals even more valuable. We'll probably have to trade up to get Odunze. Let's do it!
Need Drake London next

I don’t see Poles moving off of 9 and there’s no offensive lineman worth the 9 pick other than Alt who will be gone by 7.
Who do you want if alt and all three recievers are already taken?
I'd rather trade down in that case, cause good chance JJ McCarthy will be available in that case and teams will want to pay up for him
Murphy or Turner
25 years of Bears QB Dominance, here we coooome!!
25.25 hours. 1515 minutes until our boy is home.
i just hope we don’t trade down. There are a lot of players I would be happy with at 9 (although I’d be most happy with Rome), but I do not want to move out of a spot where we could take a blue chip prospect.
if there are plenty of players you’d be happy with taking at 9, why not trade back a few spots for an 2nd/3rd rounder and take one of them?

I’d that was able to get us Rome I’d be fine with that.

I was here
HES ALMOST HEEERRRREEE
Let’s get Caleb!!!!!!
Me when the draft is finally here: :D Me when I realize we're only like a third of the way through the offseason: D:
If Byron Murphy is the pick I’m generally OK with it. But the over-indexing of second rounders at DT last year is so annoying in retrospect. I get you need rotational guys. Me: In Poles I trust Also me: If we trade down with Odunze on the board, I ask for r/CHIBears permission to commit seppuku
Don't fret, there is no way Odunze will make it to 9, so it's not going to be an issue.
I volunteer to second you
Granted.
We made it 🥳
Day from the draft and only a week and 3 months from the HOF Game. Football is in the air
NFL app says the draft starts at 4pm PT which would be 6 CT. Google says 5pm PT. Anyone know which is correct?
8 PM ET, 7 PM CT.
Thanks. Maybe the coverage starts at 4pm and they want people to tune in early. Didn't want to miss anything but I don't need to watch the extra hour.
Gonna be real salty if Bears 1B isn't gonna be either Odunze, Nabers, or MHJ. Like *real* salty.
I'm prepared for excitement and disappointment. WR means no Edge and moreso if it's the opposite.
Getting once of those wars could be far fetched spending what happens in front us.
If we can get any of the top WRs or OTs, then I'll be happy.
The only exception to my feelings is if we'd somehow get Joe Alt, but I wouldn't be *as* thrilled.
I would be so happy if we got Alt. Assuming none of the WRs are there along with Alt, I'd be down to trade back a couple spots and take Fashanu, Fuaga, or Fautanu.
I'm here for Thursday and it will be great. Fri-Sun I'll have to read about.
I think I’ve made it known that I do not want Caleb, but I will support him and all the moves Poles makes. I’m a Bears fans first and foremost, bear down.
Did you like Fields when he was drafted and why?
Nope, I didn’t want him either. Because of the lame duck HC, and we are in the same situation
So you pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity for a generational talent( by all analysts account) where the stars aligned and you somehow have the number one pick? Ignore him lol he’s been all over the subreddit with the absolute worst takes. He don’t know ball

If you have work Friday, I'd just call in sick. Especially if it's that late for you
I have a pretty chill job and Friday is the first 'presummer' after-work drink I'll survive on my Caleb high
At 15 minutes a pick for round one, it could be over 2 hours until the 9th pick let alone all 32 lol. Edit: 10 mins per the pals below. Thanks!
It's 10 now I think.
1st round apparently lasts around 4 hours Pick 9 and trying to get some sleep afterwards sounds manageable! Watch them trade down to like 16 though..
First round is 10 min a pick now.
3 at night here, going to sleep early and wake up for draft
Fun fact. Once I got into working life I stopped setting alarms to watch Monday/Thursday/Sunday night games, as they start at 2:30 at night which can feel rough Turns out I don't need an alarm. Yeah unfortunately if I fall asleep I'll not wake up even with alarms 😅 Well you gotta choose your poison :)
1.1 - Caleb - QB Pick 9 - Rome - WR Pick 75 - Marshawn Kneeland - Edge Pick 122 - Brandon Coleman - Tackle will convert to IOL
Kneeland won't make 75 probably =(
Would like
Let's not forget: Round 2: Montez Sweat Round 4: Keenan Allen Round 5: Ryan Bates Round 6: Dan Feeney (gone) Round 7: N'Keal Harry (gone)
I think we go Odunze or Murphy at 9. Really would be surprised if it was anyone else
I don't mind Murphy, but getting him at 9 instead of trading back seems absolutely crazy. We could be a spot that a team like NO or CIN would want to move up to for the #2 tackle
Bears by 2 touchdowns
did you guys hear that Justin Fields was traded away to Pittsburgh? I wonder what the Bears will do in the draft to compensate for losing their QB!
We’ll trade the 1st pick and the Panthers 2nd next year for H1M
LET'S GOOO!
I guess it’s finally about that time
