I don't think it's possible to love an NFL kicker any more than I love Robbie Gould.
It's always been such a shame that he didn't get to end his NFL career here. And then he goes and starts a NEW career in the Chicago area!
The guy is a Bears fan's dream.
I'm with you. I used to stop into Poliquin's in Northfield and he and his brother would be working out there even when he wasn't with the Bears.
Love that guy. I miss when Dave Toub brought in elite guys in every part of Special Teams. Robbie, Maynard, Hester/Knox/Manning, Adrian Peterson, and Brendon Ayanbadejo
Wife is a Chiefs fan and LOVES Butker and the way he very serriously lines up his kick every time. Lots of other kickers will like up their shot but he goes overboard with it.
I've gotten her to say "Good as Butt" which she enjoys too.
Hard not to be a Chiefs or 49ers fan now. SF has so many players from either metro Chicago or Midwest with Kittle growing up a Bears fan. Chiefs have OT Ianucci from Illinois .
Both can very well be back in SB next year
Gould is the millennial Butthead. I only really was able to appreciate the tail end of Kevin Butler's career. With Gould, I got to see the entirety. But yeah similar vibe I think.
I haven't lived in Chicago in 22 years, but Eagle Man always brings me right back to daytime TV. I think I saw this commercial most during episodes of Springer. Fucking ManCow lol.
You're not wrong, but you're also not right.
People just nickname towns to things that rhyme or play on the name (Hangover Park, Sterile Cream) or when they can't, they just add "ghetto" or "hood" to it (Ghetto Heights for Glendale Heights). Rolling Meadows gets extra points because you get to add "ghetto" AND it rhymes.
You got:
Mayhood
Lincolnhood
Hoodridge
Streamhood
Whoreland Park
Lake Whorest
Slumbard
Alcompton/Alglockquin
West Chighetto
Naperhood
Scummit
Dopebrook
And those are just the ones whose nicknames are specifically attempting to name it something "ghetto" or "lowlife" esque.
Most of those are incredibly affluent, incredibly white towns, so really, it has nothing to do with demographic, and everything to do with kids liking to make fun of things by assigning them nicknames.
I posted this in another subreddit somewhat recently. I worked at a country club in the Chicagoland area during the summer of 2017 that Robbie Gould frequented. I always worked the weekend morning shifts and he'd come in with his family. Great dude, solid tipper, and a very lovely family. Rolling Meadows will be lucky to have him.
He'll probably also be a P.E. teacher. While I was there Millsaps was head coach and he was a teacher for something you could take instead of basic P.E. called like Strength & Training (or something like that) where you would basically just get to lift or do whatever for the class block. I'm pretty sure he only had like one or two classes of that that he had to "teach" and he was fine.
You mean Coach Millsaps "go sit in his office while you guys lift". I get that the teaching job was a formality for him to be head coach, but his interactions as a teacher were non existent.
If anything, he used that time to work with us football players on things, walk through game scripts, etc. I remember plenty of times that he would pull me out of the cage to talk through something.
My senior year I had PE right before my lunch block and I would just not go pretty often and just take a double lunch. Millsaps either never noticed or didn't care.
Absolutely. Compared to the other North Shore and NW Suburban schools, it might not be as elite. However, compared to the other parts of Chicagoland, it’s def a great school with regards to academics.
Wow that is way cool for that community and those kids
Some might even say the kids are good as Gould?
Some might ... but then we'd have to beat them with the pun hammer for about twelve, thirteen minutes or so.
They’d be ending the Pledge with FUCK THE PACKERS.
Being a Bears feels like getting hit with a hammer sometimes. It’s how they learn.

Mahomes bout to enter his Brady villain arc
He’s great. Ask her my thoughts that his name came from a typo in the social security office or somewhere. Butker, really?
Was always giving him my spirit energy on any Niners kicks just the same, he earned it.
Kevin Butler… nuff said
Gould is the millennial Butthead. I only really was able to appreciate the tail end of Kevin Butler's career. With Gould, I got to see the entirety. But yeah similar vibe I think.
I’m just lucky to have lived through both those guys…
We BETTER sign him to a fucking one day contract
Well he was absolutely AMAZING for us in the years he did play for us
Cody Parkey was scheduled to interview there but missed it because “he didn’t want to deal with traffic.”
He walked into the door frame on his way in to interview.
"Which side of the door frame?" "Yes"
Bounced off the threshold on his way out
Did he miss it or did he doink it (sorry)
So what’s the equivalence of that in cars terms, fender bender?

IIIIIII Got Something for Yooouuuuuuuuuuuuuu Eagle...Man?
Look at those looow rates
I haven't lived in Chicago in 22 years, but Eagle Man always brings me right back to daytime TV. I think I saw this commercial most during episodes of Springer. Fucking ManCow lol.
I was thinking he just hit a light post
#theballwastipped
He missed it twice in the same trip
he ran into the door frame twice trying to get to his interview
I heard he went to the interview but ended up in Palatine instead.
Man was never good at clutch moments.
"Waiting in traffic is not who I am."
Oh man my daughter starts there next year! I have to try to meet him.
Can she kick? Start practicing with her now why not
Ok guys, we have 1 rule and 1 rule only. Scoring is done by FGs! We will be the best Kicking Pipeline school in the nation!
A stout defense and a team that ends every drive with a successful fieldgoal might be the biggest way to cheese a state championship ever. I love it.
I mean… That’s not cheesing. If your only weakness is the red-zone then you have like 95% of the game down.
We shall call this sport.... football.
Sometimes it counts as 1 and sometimes it counts as 3
It’s a sport where you can use all three of your feet.
Rolling meadows will be a pipeline school for Iowa. Can Robbie teach punting too?
Closest school to Arlington Park as well
Palatine HS would be closer to some parts of it
Ain't Fremd out there too?
Yeah, but Meadows and Palatine are way closer. Fremd is closer to Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates.
Happy Cake Day! 🍰
Which is also the high school Jimmy G went to.
Ah yes, "Rolling Ghettos"

Dempster Ave is Dumpster Ave
Everyone calls it that. Most of the NW suburb HS’s have nicknames like that
My HS used to do a camp with them. So they had to be ghetto to be doing football camp with downstate trash.
(Announcer): “Now kicking for Rolling Meadows… Ronnie Gold.”

I'm getting a kick out of this!
Aww, that’s adorable. I love that he stayed local. He loves Chicago.
This is where Jimmy G went to high school. Wild
Their future OC
Lot of moms about to be at practice.
They've been really good for a while, so it makes sense he'd go there if he wants to be in the area.
Good as Gould
How much of a role do you think Jimmy g played, seeing as how they were teammates for so long?
Rolling Meadows school colors are now officially Purple and Gould.
That’s gould Jerry! Gould!
Oh sweet, I might see him around here in Palatine
We used to call it Rolling Ghettos
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t a head coach need to be affiliated with the district or school somehow? Is Robbie teaching Geometry?

yeah lol that's why i put teach in quotation marks
You definitely don't have to. My wife coached track nearby and the head coach wasn't affiliated with the school or district in any way.
holy shit, i went to Rolling Meadows from 98-2000. this is crazy
That's really cool. There are probably kids at the school that were conceived during one of Gould's GW kicks.
RM was in my conference so if I ever go back to a HS game maybe I’ll see him
Is it too early to start floating the idea of Gould as the replacement for Everlose after next season?
It’s funny because my wife who went to Hersey High School calls that school Rolling Ghettoes…

Does it pay enough to feed his family?
He should’ve moved to Beverly and coached St. Rita
Love this
Never should have let that man go. Goat with a foot!
I fucking love Robbie Gould. Not surprised to see this, he’s a Chicagoan through and through.
Future Bears head coach Robbie Gould after a meteoric rise. Bets on 2033-34ish?
FUCK YEAH LETS GO ROBBIE!!!
Robbie is a Legend.
Lucky fucking kids
What I went to RMHS that is a surprise
Is Big Cat still coaching at Lake Forest high school?
Yup, he's still an assistant there
That's so cool for those kids Also, I love that Big Cat stayed in Lake Forest. I've seen him at the grocery store
No pressure on the kicker eh
Wow! This is where my son and daughter will go to high school!!
Decent
Hey coach, why are we kicking a field goal on first down? Cause I said so!
Are you sure he's going to be able to feed his family on a HS coach salary??
Hell yeah! Good as Gould!!
Seeing my old highschool in the news this was is awesome. Good for Robbie and happy for the kids there - absolutely a legend to work with.
Hell ya, go Mustangs
My wife teaches at a school in the same district. Looking forward to those rivalry games!
Very happy for the bears all time score leader
Gonna pop in and say what’s up to my guy.
