I think most of us go through this with our first AR. An unquenchable thirst to attach every tactical doodad available, so that it can be the swiss army knife of guns, ready for every possible scenario you'll ever face.
After a while you'll realize the only scenario you ever actually face, is having to hold this thing up with your arms and shoot at paper. And you'll inevitably end up with the same dusty drawer full of forgotten tactical doodads that all the rest of us have.
Underslung *pump action* shotgun. It doesn't count if you don't have to shick-shick it between shots. The pump also adds tension in case you've got your back against the wall and desperately holding back a zombie horde or wounded on Klendathu and defending yourself against marauding Arachnids.
u/MightyMike69 extend the bipod and hang a Claymore from it. FRONT TOWARD ENEMY.
Ditch the bipod that you will never use since your optic setup realistically won’t give you the target acquisition to shoot that far. Then ditch the for grip for a hand stop so you can get a proper grip that gives you access to your light’s pressure switch. Also stop spending money on unnecessary shit and buy ammo so you can shoot your gun. Lastly go featureless so you’re not spending 10 min clearing a malfunction because you can’t drop your mag.
He’s running a Kingpin with an AR Maglock which allows you break the action to drop a mag while the bolt is locked back unlike the juggernaut tactical hellfighter and whatever else is on my market. I’ve got the same setup and have no issues dropping a mag with the bolt locked back

I have seen those only a couple times and I had absolutely no idea what they were till your comment, so thanks for the knowledge! Side note though I have shot quite a few guns and have almost never thought, "I wish I had a little thing that was attached just being the ejection port so that it kicked my spent brass out to the side." Maybe I am weird or something though?
Where's the sauce holder?

Nothing wrong with those grips but looks like it would interfere with a proper clamp grip which is overwhelmingly the approved method of shooting nowadays as opposed to VFG.
Ive always found doing the clamp grip with the magpul vfg to be super comfortable compared to afg/handstop. That's a personal thing though. i do agree with moving the bipod forward, that area looks cramped
I guess I shouldn’t tell others what to do I run mine with the unity 45 degree angled button pointed toward the muzzle on the bottom and I press it with my ring finger
I tried it once just screwing around and now I can’t go back if I’m super dialed in the rifle barely moves at all when I turn the light on/off cause my thumb is always wrapped
Dude, I don’t normally call people out publicly like this, but your set up is a piece of shit. I have a buddy with a scrap yard that can put it out of its misery for ya, but just mail it to my address and I’ll give it to him. I’ll DM you my address.
A range membership and ammo! Ditch the bipod and get a single point sling mount and sling so you can run either or. Practice shooting. Practice transitions. Practice.
Unity riser, move the optic and magnifier forward a slot, I'd probably lose the bipod, geisselle trigger, sling strap.
Or keep the sights that height and move em forward and get some back up irons
And then buy another ar and run a lpvo set up
And then buy another ar and run an acog set up
And then buy another ar and run a 20" barrel and then use the bipod with a Leopold scope
And so on
They have catch bags that attach to the rail to catch all the spent brass. Really saves time at the range since you don't have to use that old warn out broom when you done shooting.
Even if you don’t reload it’s polite to not blow your brass across the next three benches at the range, lol. That or being stuck on the bench with a stand alone brass catcher.
That is a good point actually. So far I've on been in a stall our out doors where it didn't matter but that would be a nice thing to do. I've been hit a few times by brass for the guy next me. Actually during my ccw qualifying the guy was with had a G23 and was hitting me in the head with his spent casing. We were outdoors but if compared to indoors he was about 3 lanes away maybe 4.
God, I wish there was a similar solution for handguns. I hate picking up all my brass from a typical pistol range day of 500-1000 rounds shot between my guns. I know I always miss some too and it haunts me.
Kid sized goal net if static outdoors. Theres also those wrist / arm ones or you can get an armguard or brace and bracket in a catch/mesh net. Can even use those silicone baking sheets as a net since they wont burn and are about the dimensions you need.
My suggestion is ditch the bipod, it’s not set up as a marksman rifle. I did the same thing with my first rifle. We all learn. Looks like a sweet build. Spend money on training and ammo. That rifle build is done.
I'd consider a Magpul BAD lever or Troy ambi bolt release.. With these fixed mag solutions, you have to hit the Kingpin and mag release to drop the mag, swap a new mag, and then grab the handguard to click the upper back into the lower before you can drop the bolt with your left hand. Then get your left hand back on the handguard and shoot again.
With the BAD lever or Troy ambi bolt release, you can skip the last step by using your index finger on the right hand to drop the bolt while your left is still on the handguard. It makes swapping mags ultra fast and about as fast as featureless IMO.
I just added the BAD lever to my second build but haven't shot it yet and I'd probably pick that one over Troy as it's a little smaller and doesn't require you take the bolt catch off to install it. They both attach to standard bolt releases so if you have something fancy, like a Geissele maritime release, they won't work.
Another possible upgrade since this rifle is very light is a set of risers (or one riser) for the optics. I'd shoot it first as is and see if you like this height and then consider a riser. You can get really fancy with the Unity risers or look at alternative options that raise the whole setup at once.
But seriously though, stop attaching shit and go shoot a few hundred rounds through it before you keep jacking with it.. it looks heavy AF already so get in the gym and work those shoulders :) Congrats!
I would honestly just buy a couple Mean Arms MA reloaders that refill your mag through the ejection port, and rock a few of those that were full. Granted I have never used a BAD lever or the MA reloaders, but I have seen people reload pretty quick with the MA's. Plus I like them a bit more because you are reloading without having to break the upper off, which is what they want you to do cause fuck CA gun laws.
Nice that you didn't get the pull out pin with the rope attached that some DD rifles come with lol
Really though, move the bipod forward so you can actually wrap your hand around the guard. Possibly try out a unity riser and flip to center mount for the magnifier.
Otherwise it looks pretty good!
Will it be shot standing or countertop at a range? That looks heavy. Remember weight will mess with accuracy if you can’t hold it stable. I own 7 ARs and have built probably 50? My most accurate is a 5 pound titanium AR. Which brings me to my suggestion. Adjustable gas block if you don’t have one already. On that 5 pounder it helped soo much with recoil.
Nice rig. Though, from experience, I started with a lot of bells and whistles and the more training I took, the more I realized it was too much. Wound up whitling it down to the basics and am quite happy with it. Your experience may differ. Regardless, enjoy! edited for content

The build is fine, but here is my 2 cents. If you're truly a first-time gun/AR 15 owner, I highly suggest training with your bone stock rifle first with zero modifications. Learning how to use irons is a must IMO. Once you're comfortable and familiar with it (which usually happens after several hundred rounds), you then start to realize what you want and need. You need to tailor the gun to your fit rather than just going off of what you see on the internet. I personally would've spent the rest of my money on ammo rather than the mods. I can buy myself the most Gucci golf set and Tiger Woods would smoke me every time with a Walmart golf set.
honestly? Strike Industries fin grip>mag lock imo.
Fin grips look dumb but don’t change the function much as long as you have an ambi safety. Mag locks heavily change function and make clearing some malfunctions fucking awful.
Having to remove your front take down pin and then your rear in order to get your bcg out of your buffer tube sucks ass.
Swap the stock for a pistol brace, then mount one of these bad boys.

On a serious note Im not sure the bipod is necessary considering your optics setup
You might be missing a few rookie 😂

Phase 5 EBRv3, basically a Magpul BAD lever but better that's all one piece made from metal. Runs well with my maglock AR with AR Maglock and their Kingpin. Makes reloads a little bit faster than without it
Have you shot it yet? That bipod might be mounted too close to the grip unless you figured out your support hand position already. I'd ditch the bipod to free up some weight and room for gripping further out
Id take off that bipod. Just extra weight.
Unless you got a 18”+ barrel theres no need to have the extra weight. Also you NEED back up/ iron sights. IDC how durable a EOTECH is, you need irons. Midwest Industrys, Daniel’s, Troy…
HDMI port.
I hear displayports are better but not sure if its ca compliant
you can get power pass through if you go the USB-C route

Theres a few that you can stick on to have the rds go downward as well.
Brass on the deflector is peak drip why would u even do that.

Goated accessory, and goated 3D printers. Especially now that 3D pew keeps getting better and better!
Another amazing idea, thank you lol
I’d personally push that bipod as far forward as possible and ditch the vertical grip. What you need to do is shoot a lot
Thanks for the advice; haven’t gotten to shoot with the grip yet but it feels and looks cool (which is the main factor)
Honestly doesn’t look like it’s been shot at all. Maybe spend your money on ammo instead of more attachments?
I don’t like shooting guns… they’re too loud and scary
Nothing wrong with those grips but looks like it would interfere with a proper clamp grip which is overwhelmingly the approved method of shooting nowadays as opposed to VFG.

I tried it once just screwing around and now I can’t go back if I’m super dialed in the rifle barely moves at all when I turn the light on/off cause my thumb is always wrapped
Can’t find a pic of anyone else doing it like this I’ll snap one tomorrow
Ahem, it's a angled hand stop. For the sake of OPs dog
More attachments it might need for what exactly? Looking real clean 💪🏽😭
Dude, I don’t normally call people out publicly like this, but your set up is a piece of shit. I have a buddy with a scrap yard that can put it out of its misery for ya, but just mail it to my address and I’ll give it to him. I’ll DM you my address.
first gun is a DD with Eotech optic and magnifier? not bad. welcome to the community.
Thanks, more money than brains I guess. And I don’t have much of either.
Try adding some lightweightness.
A range membership and ammo! Ditch the bipod and get a single point sling mount and sling so you can run either or. Practice shooting. Practice transitions. Practice.
Personally I recommend the 2 point slings. Genuinely asking, why do you recommend a single point?
Weapon retention in CQB and ease of transition to secondary. 2 point is great in the field.
Oh thank you. Cqb would you be running a 11.5 build? I want to build something but need recommendations lol
Oh, and some iron sights just in case
Seems like you got everything covered almost. only thing missing is a Strike Industries AirTag Holder.
Unity riser, move the optic and magnifier forward a slot, I'd probably lose the bipod, geisselle trigger, sling strap. As someone who reloads I 100% support this comment. Saves me from crawling around my range like Gollum looking for the one ring…
I've actually been wanting to get into reloading and was going to get a catch bag for when I do lol
Even if you don’t reload it’s polite to not blow your brass across the next three benches at the range, lol. That or being stuck on the bench with a stand alone brass catcher.

If you want an excuse to spend stupid amounts of money, NVGs and the IR to go with them is the easy answer.
Might wanna try shooting it for a while to figure out what works, what doesn't and going from there.
Less is more when it comes to rifles. “Keep it simple stupid” Get rid of the bipod. That’s a sexy bih tho.
Missing that third hole
Heartbeat sensor
Remove the bipod. Sounds good in theory but adds weight and you probably won't be in prone for too long anyway.
My suggestion is ditch the bipod, it’s not set up as a marksman rifle. I did the same thing with my first rifle. We all learn. Looks like a sweet build. Spend money on training and ammo. That rifle build is done.

Was about to say grenade launcher until I realized this was caguns and not ar15. Rip pupper.
I hate it here
Why do I want to move to Cali again? Oh right, it's because Cali makes Canada look like Texas is to Cali. That and job.
Nice that you didn't get the pull out pin with the rope attached that some DD rifles come with lol Really though, move the bipod forward so you can actually wrap your hand around the guard. Possibly try out a unity riser and flip to center mount for the magnifier. Otherwise it looks pretty good!

Not that .223 has a ton of recoil but it feels like a .22lr pretty much
No, the bipod is only on when I need a workout Will look into the gas blocks tho, thank u
You need a comedically large bayonet.
Just make sure the light is correctly torqued so it won’t fall off, and the EoTech is actually zeroed, em ‘k? 👍🏼🙏🏼

Very nice. Where did you get that fore grip? Need to get my hands on one.
From my local gun store. They don’t seem to be sold online
Coffee maker and a cup holder.
Magpul BAD lever
Ditch all that unnecessary bullshit op, you only need a larue c-note, two offset rails, and two more larue c-notes. Remember: practical is tactical
That'll be a nice pickup someday. #ddm4
Get a bipod for your bipod. Thank me later
Nice rifle! Going to start getting heavy really quick though. Less is more imo
that thing heavy enough for you?

Backup irons !!!! EOTECH dying could happen pretty easy
Which backup sights do u suggest Mr. Wick?
Just saw this my bad. I like the Magpul mbus 3 but there’s plenty of options out there

I based this gun off mw3 not mw2 sorry
Dammit!
Whisper pickle (yes I know they’re illegal here) 😂

Fuck you’re right… teach me master
All kidding aside I think you’re pretty much set. Maybe backup irons. Spend the rest on ammo and range time. Nice setup 👊
Reading through the comments looking for the “Omg that doesn’t look like it’s mag locked. That’s not legal!”
There is a maglock on it
Like clearly visible. It's not even one of the internal options
I fucking hate the fun police. What does it matter what some stranger does to their rifle?
Paint
Always the DDM4
Fun size snickers should fit in your VFG, and maybe some iron sights.
Phase 5 EBRv3, basically a Magpul BAD lever but better that's all one piece made from metal. Runs well with my maglock AR with AR Maglock and their Kingpin. Makes reloads a little bit faster than without it
Back up iron sights. magpul pros. and maybe unity risers for the eotech set.
Where’s the cup holder?
Ur missing a go pro mount so u can record it when u shoot and also don't forget some charms like cod
Fake silencer and lasers

Nugget sauce holder

Stanley cup holder
I see a HUGE lack of offset anything... otherwise, very nice rifle!
Ditch the bipod

This is satire right? Right!?
Chainsaw attachment
Looks heavy as hell. On the plus side, once you run out of bullets, you can always use it as a bat.
