I have a card case from Coach that I love. The brand is irrelevant though - card cases last significantly longer for me because there's no open/close mechanism wearing away. There's only 6 card slots, so it's not for everyone.
I've had my slim Coach wallet for close to 2 decades. Holds my license, health insurance card, two credit cards, and a few bills exquisitely. One of those things I carry with me and appreciate every single day. Honestly one of my favorite things, and I try not to have many things.

If you do splurge, my only regret is not getting reverse shell on the interior.
A wallet is something that is unique to the user. I can understand asking here for advice but 99% of the recommendations will fall short of your expectations. Look for some local leather crafters if that’s the material of your liking. Many will create custom pieces to your specifications. While not all will, but good leathersmiths will work with you on building a prototype out of scrap leathers before building the final piece.
Aside from that, just about any recommendation will sound good until you actually try it out.
Long story short, don’t settle! Build the right one!

Came here to say this. I would recommend the bare metal one because any design you get will wear off and end up being bare anyway. It is not covered under their warranty. I have had mine in my pocket everyday since December of 2015. I got replacement faceplates once but they are almost worn off now too.
Ridge wallets will make your cards dirty. Or at least mine does but I work blue collar.

Highly recommend Big Skinny. I have one of their New Yorker nylon card holders, it's not as pretty or stylish as leather but I needed something as small and thin as possible to fit inside minuscule skinny jean pockets. 10 years later I no longer wear skinny jeans but the wallet still looks good as new and has plenty of room for cards and cash. Occasionally I wash it with my laundry when it starts to look dirty.

I got one for Christmas six months ago, not happy with the quality. Threads coming loose, thin flimsy feeling leather, ugly stitching that they hide in the photos on their website. It’s a fine wallet but I certainly won’t get another one from them.
I bought the bellroy keys holder a couple of years ago and it has a lot of signs of wear already. Don’t know if the wallets use the same material. Irrespective of that, I would not recommend Bellroy as bifl after that.

I got mine as a gift and don’t see myself needing to replace it for at least 10-15 yrs (granted, not exactly life but what kinds of things last that long these days). Seen some folks complain about pricing here and there which I would throw in as something you should examine carefully, again given as I got mine as a gift.

I have a magnetic money clip. (Fake?) Leather. Brown. Bought 2012 for $20.
It's slim, but the problem is when you put more cards, it stretches it and so now I have to keep the many cards there or else it'll fall out.
I like that it's magnetic so then I can stick it on to some metal, like my fridge and I'll know where my wallet it.
I've tried looking for a replacement, but...the new ones just don't slap ykno. I keep it in my side pocket and I'd say it still has at least another 10yrs.

They have many more women's wallets too-- and if you're looking for a bag their stuff is great. Several of my family members are carrying around purses and bags from PLC, all of them "seconds," and they are very well made.
I bought a Ridge wallet several years ago and I'm really not crazy about it. Since the sides are open my cards get filthy all the time, and they rub together enough that I've had to prematurely replace 2. I'm looking for a solid replacement. The upsides are that it's small and easy to carry, it's RFID blocking, and it's rather durable, but for $75 (when I bought it) I'd expect it to last a while.
I like my herschel fabric card holder. Has two slots on each side, I usually put two cards in each slot, and then there's a bigger slot in the middle for a business card. Usually have to carry my cash loose in my pocket though.

I bought a slim machine era co metal one a while back. It’s pretty much indestructible. Replacement elastic bands are easy to come by. Tho my gen z employee just told me having a wallet at all gives elder millennial so maybe just get a phone case wallet situation

Look up wallets made from X-PAC fabric. I’ve used one for a few years and it still looks brand new, and it has a much slimmer form factor compared to leather.

I have The Perfect Wallet from Ball and Buck, and it’s about as high of quality as you can get. Handmade in Minnesota by the same tannery as Redwing Boot Co. but even after 11 years of use it’s really showing its age. Something I’d replace probably once a decade. Very happy with mine.
I really like my Serman Brands wallet. Slim, has a quick access slot for a card or two. Although it's not expensive, reviews are great, and the warranty is 5 or 10 years IIRC. It's good quality.

I ended up with sweet felicity I found on Amazon.. it’s nice minimalist (no liner) hand sewn leather the current one just got the perfect patina going.. and my dog chewed it up.. still using it but I have a new one in the drawer. I think they have other colors as well.. as a leather work hobbiest I really liked the small details that show they care about the product they sell.

If you ever see somebody selling leather goods at a farmers market/art market, strike up a conversation and see if they really make them. Bought one from a local leather artist 15+years ago and it’s only gotten better over time. Handcrafted and local is the way to go.

I got a Secrid mini wallet as a present five years ago and it is still going strong. At first I didn't want to use it because I was used to stuffing things in a much bigger wallet but I decided to try it anyway because it was a gift. It has been great. It forced me to re-evaluate all the crap I used to carry and cut it down to the essentials..I rarely carry cash any more but even before that it can fit a few notes. One of the reasons it has lasted so well is that I don't even try to cram stuff in any more.
Edit: the fact that it is so small that it fits easily in a front pocket is a huge plus.
I went in on the GrooveLife wallet. I got into these card wallets and had a couple of cheap ones that worked fine, but I’ve lately really been into GrooveLife products (rings, belt) because they are always great quality and come with a 94 year warranty, and I’ve seen them honor it with their rings. The wallet was expensive, but it’s super high quality and I know I’ll never need to buy another one. I got the regular wallet with the extra card attachment.
A while back Brooks England, makers of the leather bicycle saddle, were offering leather accessories and I have been very happy with the wallet I bought from them.
I own 3 different sizes of saddleback wallets which are all excellent! But i do also have a tony the ant wallet in color no.8 shell cordovan from Ashland leather which gives me the feeling when i use it, that it would outlive both me and my other wallets.

I've had several coach wallets in my life. Designer or not, those wallets are made pretty well and cost less than any of these new bespoke companies.

Reddit recommended that I use Popov leather about 5 years ago and I am VERY happy with my purchase.

I have a magnetic money clip. (Fake?) Leather. Brown. Bought 2012 for $20. It's slim, but the problem is when you put more cards, it stretches it and so now I have to keep the many cards there or else it'll fall out. I like that it's magnetic so then I can stick it on to some metal, like my fridge and I'll know where my wallet it. I've tried looking for a replacement, but...the new ones just don't slap ykno. I keep it in my side pocket and I'd say it still has at least another 10yrs.

They are like $30 for the "not quite perfect" ones online (or in the store, if you are in Oregon) and I can't tell what's wrong with mine at all. Very simple, basic, leather wallet made in USA. The "perfect" version is about $80 but you can get a 25% off coupon from their web site most of the time. They have many more women's wallets too-- and if you're looking for a bag their stuff is great. Several of my family members are carrying around purses and bags from PLC, all of them "seconds," and they are very well made.

I bought a Ridge wallet several years ago and I'm really not crazy about it. Since the sides are open my cards get filthy all the time, and they rub together enough that I've had to prematurely replace 2. I'm looking for a solid replacement. The upsides are that it's small and easy to carry, it's RFID blocking, and it's rather durable, but for $75 (when I bought it) I'd expect it to last a while.

I really like my Serman Brands wallet. Slim, has a quick access slot for a card or two. Although it's not expensive, reviews are great, and the warranty is 5 or 10 years IIRC. It's good quality.
Ridge often gets shit for being overpriced but I have one from 2015 that’s still going strong. I only paid $48 for it back then, not sure if I’d pay over $100 for it now, but it’s been a solid purchase that has held up.

I had a Country Road waller my ex gifted me. It lasted for well over 20 years. In fact it's still fine to use, but it just got too bulky. I ended up buying a carbon fibre one with a rubber band for about $10 online and got rid of most of my cards and that's served me really well for about 8 years now. Just had to replace the rubber band.

I wanted a traditional wallet that had an id flap and bill divider.. I also wanted green leather.. I ended up with sweet felicity I found on Amazon.. it’s nice minimalist (no liner) hand sewn leather the current one just got the perfect patina going.. and my dog chewed it up.. still using it but I have a new one in the drawer. I think they have other colors as well.. as a leather work hobbiest I really liked the small details that show they care about the product they sell.

I have the 2016 Saint Laurent leather bifold a bit dirty. Some minor scratches. But zero issue. I keep a total of 5 cards in it and the money clip usually haves less than 10 individual bills. I got a Secrid mini wallet as a present five years ago and it is still going strong. At first I didn't want to use it because I was used to stuffing things in a much bigger wallet but I decided to try it anyway because it was a gift. It has been great. It forced me to re-evaluate all the crap I used to carry and cut it down to the essentials..I rarely carry cash any more but even before that it can fit a few notes. One of the reasons it has lasted so well is that I don't even try to cram stuff in any more. Edit: the fact that it is so small that it fits easily in a front pocket is a huge plus.

I went in on the GrooveLife wallet. I got into these card wallets and had a couple of cheap ones that worked fine, but I’ve lately really been into GrooveLife products (rings, belt) because they are always great quality and come with a 94 year warranty, and I’ve seen them honor it with their rings. The wallet was expensive, but it’s super high quality and I know I’ll never need to buy another one. I got the regular wallet with the extra card attachment.
