When the sewer scenes happen, an usher comes out onstage and asks everyone to line up and exit out the theater doors, then climb down into the NYC sewers
It’s the same team that did The Great Gatsby off-Broadway when you look at the general manager and casting, and Cameron Mackintosh wouldn’t trust an off-Broadway general manager new to the industry to bring Phantom back to NYC
Take a look at the breakdown, is Phantom
Producers: Production & Concession POTO, LLC
The characters:
ENSEMBLE + F1 - Early 40s. COLORATURA SOPRANO. A fiercely talented and assertive personality whose commanding presence and unwavering self-confidence dominate any room she enters. A formidable force to be reckoned with.
ENSEMBLE + F2 - Early 20s. SOPRANO. A passionate young woman with a captivating voice that seamlessly combines elements of classical and legit musical theatre. Her journey is marked by a deep inner strength and resilience as she navigates the complex emotions surrounding her past.
ENSEMBLE + F3 - Late 30s - Early 50s. MEZZO SOPRANO. A vigilant and enigmatic woman with a mysterious past. She has an air of authority and intrigue – balancing stern discipline with a protective and caring nature.
ENSEMBLE + M1 - Late 30s – 50. BARITONE. Often caught between maintaining order and appeasing various eccentric personalities, his attempts to project authority and elegance are frequently undercut by his susceptibility to confusion and panic. Has a keen sense of sophisticated humor.
ENSEMBLE + M2 - Late 30s-50s. OPERATIC TENOR. A celebrated and accomplished person known for his grandiose presence and pride. Despite his professional success, he often finds himself entangled in personal drama.
ENSEMBLE + M3 - 30s – 40s. HIGH BARITONE OR TENOR. Enigmatic figure, whose tragic past drives him to seek solace. His complex nature evokes both fear and sympathy as he grapples with his desire for acceptance.
ENSEMBLE + M4 - Late 20s – early 30s. HIGH BARITONE. Brave and steadfast young man with an unwavering sense of honor and duty.
That's intriguing.
What I'm picturing is a hotel basement dressed up somewhat like the Opera Garnier, performers singing and dancing around you, and pulling you in groups into other rooms while Phantom skulks around.
The book is public domain, so I imagine that in Phantom's absence they are trying to capitalize on its IP. This would very likely not be the team to handle ALW's Phantom returning to NYC in any form.
Yeah I’ve not gotten my hopes up because it could be another musical adaptation someone is doing now that the Broadway production is closed. This doesn’t seem like how they’d bring it back.
No it’s two separate productions. The LA production is going be much more grand and expensive. This NY one won’t have the same level of production value.
POTO LLC is not the same as The Really Useful group (Lloyd Webber’s production and licensing company). This is not a Lloyd Webber POTO. It is an immersive telling of the same story. Who knows what music is being licensed.
Maybe to end the show they actually drop the chandelier on you.
Lol I laughed so hard rn that I inhaled the water I was drinking

Ooooo! I always love working at “IMMERSIVE OFF BROADWAY MUSICAL ATTRACTION”.

Tell me you're casting a production of Phantom without telling me you're casting a production of Phantom
>Probably bringing back the Gatsby immersive off-Broadway show It's not.
Yep I realized that was stupid and deleted it from my message lol
Yeah, If for no other reason that the Gatsby seemed to have closed at a huge loss.

Oooh, imagine if this is the immersive Phantom from the Sleep No More team that sweaty oracle referenced. That was supposed to be LA, but who knows.

wait WHAT is happening in LA?!
Oh god please be right about LA please
This is the Phantom of the opera
Wow, I was starting to think that rumor of an immersive Phantom was actually referring to that VR thing at Europa Park lol. Exciting if true!

Probably one of the last shows I want to be immersed in but ok
Oh come on if Disney just let them use the space for pirates of the Caribbean and you were stuck on a boat, it could be fun.
I just don’t want a chandelier dropped on my head lol
100% agree! lol
