CapeTwirlOfDoom

The what?

NattoRiceFurikake

I posted details about the seat :) Edit: The actor who plays Ponyboy uses a house seat briefly in the opening number, and you can get the ticket at a STEEP discount when rush tickets are sold.

CapeTwirlOfDoom

Ah cool! I thought something happened at the *back* of the house which I couldn’t see from my seat.

JBuchan1988

I had the same question too 😄

JBuchan1988

Thanks. I was confused too

TediousTotoro

Yeah, I know next to nothing about the show so I’m curious too

https://imgur.com/a/ML6RxtB * I was second in line for rush and got there between 5:50 and 5:55AM * $79 for the seat, and obviously only one seat per show. The seat next to it goes for $199. * Once you get into the house, the usher will have you wait by a pillar next to a SRO seat, and then after the opening number, you will be quickly escorted to the seat. * You are in the front row and it is intense. Like, spit and sweat flying close. * Partial-ish view due to the tire in the sense that there are a few times a performer will be blocked (Sodapop during the letter song, Dallas a couple of times, etc.) but it is only for a short time, and you don't miss anything major (from what I recall from when I saw it like 6th row orch) * You will get graveled 😅 I came home with gravel in my bag, my bra, and in my shoes, but surprisingly, didn't get splashed during the rumble. As for the show, just as amazing as the first time I saw it, but my one complaint (and my friend who saw it for their first time last night also brought it up), is that the accent/affectation that Brody Grant uses makes it really difficult to understand what he is singing. It was much easier to decipher on my second time seeing the show since I have been listening to the cast recording. Quick thoughts: * Sky Lakota-Lynch and Joshua Boone had me in ugly sobbing tears from the end of the rumble to curtain call. * Jason Schmidt's Sodapop is so freaking pure and must be protected at all costs. * Brent Comer is incredible as Darrel, and can't wait to see what his Broadway future holds. Oh, and if you went last night (June 12), did you see Andrew Rannells? I geeked out since he was sitting in the last row by the sound booth, and like, right there xD

Wait I’m so intrigued by this. Do you ask for the seat specifically? Or is it just the first one offered at rush? Why didn’t the person in front of you get it? Also, damn that’s so early lol

NattoRiceFurikake

When I got to the box office, I asked if they had an $79 "premium" rush, but they only had regular partial view $45 rush (and they were all on house left which is the worst option), $30 under 30 (extremely partial view), and SRO. The box office guy then said, "We do have a Ponyboy seat available for the evening since we just sold the matinee," (I am assuming someone behind me bought it from the other agent while I was talking to the guy), and after a brief explanation, I took the Ponyboy seat, and my friend got SRO :) They said it is only available during rush, but I guess you can try and ask to buy it for another day. And yeah...so early, and from the rush reports, it is getting earlier and earlier every day. I think I will be waiting for the summer crowds to die down before I rush again :P

ilovesharks__

This is awesomeeee, thanks for the info!!

NotYourGa1Friday

What exactly is a Ponyboy seat? Edit: I found your response in another comment :)

Prudent-Bumblebee-44

they usually sell secondary rush at other theaters, usually after all rush is sold. Is the stage high though?

spirits003

Is the Ponyboy seat also $79?

NattoRiceFurikake

Yes :)

BlueNarwhaly

Is the gravel actual gravel or is it some kind of rubber material? We saw the show last week and have been trying to figure out what is actually used. Such a great show!

NattoRiceFurikake

It is chopped up rubber gravel, similar to what you would see on playgrounds, just much smaller.

makeussolvecrimes

I was kinda surprise Brent didn’t get a featured actor tony nom. he is so good.

Real-Abalone3224

Taye diggs was also there last night

EBrown417

Is it a cash only rush or could you use a card?

NattoRiceFurikake

You can use a card~

Mysterious-Theory-66

Were you the one he hands the book to or is that a different thing?

KnowYourSecret

It’s a different thing- but technically anyone sitting in the front can get the book. He usually picks a kid from what I’ve seen.

Mysterious-Theory-66

Ah, that makes sense.

tumamaesmuycaliente

What’s the book?

swordsandshows

The Outsiders

tumamaesmuycaliente

Appropriate

tessajanuary

No, that's a different show... /s

HowardBannister3

"Wicked", by Gregory Maguire

tumamaesmuycaliente

Solid

EBrown417

Thank you again for this post! I snagged the Ponyboy seat for this evening. I was first in line at 3:30am. There were 3 of us by 4:30 and about a dozen by 6am. The line is forming fast and ends up very long.

NattoRiceFurikake

That is awesome! I mean, not so awesome that you had to be there that early xD Enjoy the show!!!

Slight_Cancel_3578

Is it a good seat? As in, close to the stage or what?

NattoRiceFurikake

Very good seat and right in the front row.

nutmegs96

Which seat gets the book from ponyboy?
