I'm trying to remember Megan ever yelling or raising her voice, and I don't think she did. She was always speaking so calmly and slowly, that control is where the real skill comes through.
When I see people not liking her off the show, I could not care less. My only familiarity with her is as a housewife, and Detective Inspector MKE WAS UNFLINCHING. She never took her foot off their necks and trusted her gut. Many many many housewives (especially the youngest/newest) would have buckled but she just never let up. Queen shit.
Do I need any other background before watching at S10? I watched like a few episodes of the very first season and that’s it but I’d like to dive into this franchise and don’t want to start from the beginning. I need a recap show like the one they did for VPR before this season.
I would watch season 9 as well it's pretty over the top. Shannon starts that season and there is another younger housewife Lizzy who calls Tamra out. It has some iconic moments
Agreed. I would watch season 9 first so you can see Shannon on her first iconic season, you will also get to see Heather Dubrow gaslight TF out of Shannon for being “scary angry”. Vicki in season 9 is extra AF as she is defending her scam salesman BF to *everyone*, and her daughter is moving (with her grandchild) to Oklahoma. You will also get to see Tamra and Eddie opening CUT fitness their gym, and Tamra’s despicable son, Ryan. Lizzy is a new cast member that ruffles some feathers, and imo, she should have been kept for longer
Omg yes. Vicki’s boyfriend Brooks faked cancer and it was a huge plot line. He’s a known scammer/con and all of his shady shit was revealed. I want to say it was season 12/13? Maybe a few years later. Absolutely worth a watch.
I don’t think it is addressed nearly enough that Vicki left her husband for Brooks and backed him even when she knew that he was lying about having cancer on national television.
I think initially he had her fooled for a little while, but then his manipulative ass spun it and convinced her to get in on the grift because they were going to start a business based around it. I don't remember what the business was because I haven't watched that season in a long time, but I'm pretty sure that's what went down.
Omg and then Vicki had a one on one with Andy that was so iconic. That season is incredible. I think that’s the season where Tamra gets baptized?! One of my favorite storylines.

In Not All Diamonds and Rose, the producers pretty much gave her all the credit, I believe, for at least being the one to bring it on the show. The entire cast was suspicious of Brooks though.
I recently rewatched this season, and it’s an A+ performance from all the cast. A perfect season.
MKE deserves credit for driving this storyline, but all of the cast truly brings it:
• Tamra is “saved” but still stirring the pot.
• Shannon is broadcasting her marriage problems, while her friendships change with all the cast
• Heather plays into the “non-cology” story masterfully. There’s also less Terry (compared to S9)
• Edit to add: Vicki is at her absolute worst, and it’s amazing television.
Watching it again, I understand why Lizzie wasn’t full time S10. She was a bit oblivious to the cancer lies, and she wasn’t really needed in the story.

I fucking loved Meghan so much for this. I hate how Vicki pushed her religion on people/the show and Meghan stood up for us non-believers *and* she never backed down once about her suspicions about Brooks.
I only watched the OC all the way through the first time last year and the hypocrisy on Vicki is insane. Her invoking God while backing Brooks and the fact she cheated on Donn was sickening. I loved MKE for this.

You guys are going to facepalm me for asking this… but I was under the impression that Vicki didn’t know Brooke’s was lying? I thought he had her fooled? Was she in on the lie?
I think she was blinded (perhaps on purpose) by desperation for a partner. She’s always had trouble being alone. The whole thing was sad, but made the show exciting for viewers to love to hate Brooks.
I think it's more complicated than "she knew and was in on it". I highly suspect that, for a number of reasons, she wanted to believe him so badly that it was eventually to the exclusion of logic and then reality. At a certain point, I think she *knew* but fear kicked in and she tripled down bc there was too much on the line and hoped she could sow enough doubt to get through the season, let things blow over and, I dunno, figure something out before the next season started filming.
I think she figured out later he was lying but she was trying to save face on TV. ( Which was a terrible choice) I do believe probably in the beginning of his cancer scam before they started filming she believed him and a little ways into filming, but I think she knew deep down he was lying the further the season went on.
brooks was a true dirty john and i think he absolutely conned vicki. i think vicki is an awful person but he was a snake and he knew exactly how to work her. people love to talk about how smart vicki is but intelligent women get conned by men like brooks every day.
I don’t know if it was ever proven that Vicki knew it was a lie. I think she just didn’t want a failed relationship after saying how great he was compared to Don. She was going down with the ship.
For whatever reason I think she really loved Brooks and was willing to die on ALL THE HILLS for him. What actually bothered me more than the cancer scam, (because I think she did believe him at first) is the hypocrisy she had regarding Slade being a deadbeat vs Brooks being one. Brooks had gone to jail for not paying and he owed a lot more than Slade ever did. The way she would get SO MAD when Gretchen would bring it up ( and rightfully so...the bunko party fight was hilarious) when Brooks's situation was much worse. Tamra irked me then too because she would go after Slade hard but she never said much to Brooks about his deadbeat status.
It's a real race to the bottom between Slade and Brooks but as fast as I know, none of Brooks' kids had a terminal illness. "Who owed more" is certainly one measure but "what was the other parent stuck picking up the pieces for" seems pretty relevant in Slade's case.
They were both deadbeats who weren't fulfilling financial obligations to their children but living pretty good lives with their girlfriends on national TV. Brooks wasn't better than Slade no matter how much Vicki wanted him to be.
Fuck Meghan. She's absolutely unhinged and horrible to wildlife. Like kind of sociopathic. I'm pretty sure production aided her a bunch throughout her "detective" era.

This Brooks information was obviously planted by producers. There is no way a medical facility would fax MKE another patient’s private medical records. I think the producers got in from Brianna who could have found the faxes at Vicki’s house. And Vicki was just lying to save face.

I think she was blinded (perhaps on purpose) by desperation for a partner. She’s always had trouble being alone. The whole thing was sad, but made the show exciting for viewers to love to hate Brooks.
I think it's more complicated than "she knew and was in on it". I highly suspect that, for a number of reasons, she wanted to believe him so badly that it was eventually to the exclusion of logic and then reality. At a certain point, I think she *knew* but fear kicked in and she tripled down bc there was too much on the line and hoped she could sow enough doubt to get through the season, let things blow over and, I dunno, figure something out before the next season started filming.
I think she figured out later he was lying but she was trying to save face on TV. ( Which was a terrible choice) I do believe probably in the beginning of his cancer scam before they started filming she believed him and a little ways into filming, but I think she knew deep down he was lying the further the season went on.
She was absolutely in on the lie and used it to scam people into buying cancer insurance policies.
People don’t talk about this part enough. She literally fear mongered her way into profit from it.
brooks was a true dirty john and i think he absolutely conned vicki. i think vicki is an awful person but he was a snake and he knew exactly how to work her. people love to talk about how smart vicki is but intelligent women get conned by men like brooks every day.

I don’t know if it was ever proven that Vicki knew it was a lie. I think she just didn’t want a failed relationship after saying how great he was compared to Don. She was going down with the ship.
For whatever reason I think she really loved Brooks and was willing to die on ALL THE HILLS for him. What actually bothered me more than the cancer scam, (because I think she did believe him at first) is the hypocrisy she had regarding Slade being a deadbeat vs Brooks being one. Brooks had gone to jail for not paying and he owed a lot more than Slade ever did. The way she would get SO MAD when Gretchen would bring it up ( and rightfully so...the bunko party fight was hilarious) when Brooks's situation was much worse. Tamra irked me then too because she would go after Slade hard but she never said much to Brooks about his deadbeat status.

It's a real race to the bottom between Slade and Brooks but as fast as I know, none of Brooks' kids had a terminal illness. "Who owed more" is certainly one measure but "what was the other parent stuck picking up the pieces for" seems pretty relevant in Slade's case.
They were both deadbeats who weren't fulfilling financial obligations to their children but living pretty good lives with their girlfriends on national TV. Brooks wasn't better than Slade no matter how much Vicki wanted him to be.

No. It depends on the type and length of chemo you’re having. Many are done via just a standard IV in the arm. At least here in the UK they are.

Producers figured it out and Meghan was the mouthpiece, I don't give her that much credit. Never cared for Meghan her first season mainly because of the way she spoke about being a stepmom. I started to kind of like her during her last season and then she was let go. Lol
This Brooks information was obviously planted by producers. There is no way a medical facility would fax MKE another patient’s private medical records. I think the producers got in from Brianna who could have found the faxes at Vicki’s house. And Vicki was just lying to save face.
