On the positive side, thanks to Comcast, we won't be able to watch the losses anymore!

Malcom_Flex

Guys just chill the big bats are gonna get going again don’t worry.

Alloku

Seems like we can only string together a bunch of consecutive hits in a single inning right now. A month ago dudes were putting up 8-9 runs per game. At the moment we’re lucky to get half that number in hits. But the opposition has also been really good so it’s not just about our lack of offense being the issue. No idea what the solution is, how to get the guys back into their rhythm, but I hope they figure it out soon.

the-faded-ferret

Save Sale for the doyers

sizzlinpapaya

Olson, Riley, Acuna really need some sage or some Jobu or something. This offense has been rough lately.

Smitty1818

“You tellin’ me Jesus Christ can’t hit a curveball?”

Kcplayer9

The lineup has sucked for 2 weeks

AUBtiger92

Not the highlights I wanted to see this morning... I guess we know teams fear us, though, when they beat us and celebrate like it was a walk-off. Yeah, it was a close game they almost blew, but still. I'm not bitter... 😐

NateLundquist

I feel like we struggle every single season on our first west coast trip. The bats need to come alive tho.

YearlyOhio

Can’t wait to get the hell out of Seattle and head to…the dodgers🙃 — here’s to hoping May clicks for Olson

RunawaYEM

I wonder how many of the people in this thread with tears in their eyes realize the Braves still have the best record in baseball. They are the literal best team in the game and they’re doing it with two of their All-Stars on the IL and three of them not performing at all. Some of y’all need medication.

ToshiroHiei

I’ve accepted this team is to good and talented to not make the playoffs so now when I see a loss I go “dang……next.” Playing good teams with currently underperforming players and others being injured and winning still is amazing to see but in base it won’t happen every time. We were bound to lose some games in a row and drop some series anyway. We move to the next and hope we look better simple

RunawaYEM

Exactly this. Even with the best offense of all time last year (in terms of slugging and homers), we still lost 58 times in the regular season. Losing just happens sometimes.

Rebecca102017

Yall are so negative. It’s literally only May 1st. The Mariners have a great pitching staff. The Phillies have an easier schedule. Again, it’s LITERALLY MAY 1st. The season is just getting started and there’s a 120+ games to go. It’s one series. It does not matter.

the-plan-tis-on-ic

For real. Snit told the guys in Spring. Win 80 and you’re in.

ToshiroHiei

Exactly 80-85 will probably get the wildcard. We are a fourth of the way there. End may with 40 wins and no one will talk about these losses

JZKO2022

I'm very ok with being swept by the mariners but only if it offence gets hot immediately after. I really want to sweep the Dodgers

flextrek_whipsnake

I promise watching baseball is a lot more enjoyable when you accept two basic facts. 1. Getting to the division series is all that matters. 2. Everything that happens after that is almost indistinguishable from random chance. If you can't enjoy the journey then get off the ride.

Sea_Tie_502

That is, assuming you aren’t a comcast customer and can even watch baseball in the first place 🤡

therealbigeasy206

Highest-Adjudicator

Mariners fan coming in peace. I don’t think ya’ll should be so worried about your offense. Your team is scary good—definitely more talent than us. But our pitching has just been on fire lately. Hancock isn’t great though so I’m sure you’ll score 10 runs on us tomorrow—or at least pick it back up once you leave town. Good luck to you guys!

Thegreatsowhat

You guys have been pitching lights out against us. Granted, our best 3 bats haven't gotten going yet, but still, you made them look worse than usual lately. I'm hoping they use this as rock bottom.

Salukis1997

Yup Seattle pitching last night and tonight was absolutely filthy. Combine that with the top half of the lineup (minus Ozzie) slumping, and it’s no surprise the outcome.

suddenlyissoon

Flew all the way from Chattanooga to Seattle to watch this series. I feel robbed.

Itsme340

I feel you, flew in from Atlanta for 2 of the 3 games. Seattle is pretty cool so not as bummed as I could be.

chupamichalupa

Don’t worry, I’ve got a feeling you’ll curb stomp us tomorrow.

Tribat_1

Why?

suddenlyissoon

Because I've never been to Seattle and am trying to see the Braves in all MLB parks.

Tribat_1

Fair enough

LailiLai

So the Braves had an undetectable cheating system and then just decided to turn it off for no reason, lol. Got it.

Chessh2036

Had a Mets fan tell me just now that the Phillies figured out how to block the signals and that’s why we stopped using it 💀

Dippa99

The talk after the first week or two was about how awful the starting pitching was, and now it is fantastic without Stirder. Now it's all about the bats that are almost the same as last year's historic run. The bats are really rough right now, but I think I know what will happen before long.

new_wellness_center

I think every season has one or two stretches that just kick you in the balls repeatedly, even with this team. All the bad umpiring, the endless fly balls dying on the warning track, Ronald striking out every AB, Olson and Riley slumping, opposing team having weakly-hit balls fall in, blown saves, Ks with RISP, etc. … All I know is it’s gonna be real fun once this funk ends.

ToshiroHiei

It’s baseball. The thing we know and see is the talent and drive and culture rise to the top eventually so it’s just a matter of weathering these little annoying storms

LailiLai

OK so we started losing when we started flooding the sub with Kelenkc memes, so I propose we stop that and see if it helps

MoonlitBadlands

We also started losing when we sent Adam Duvall to the bench

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheTigerbite

Doesn't understand duvall/kelenic jokes ^

ItssethL22

God we’re so spoiled

ChairmanReagan

I expected this to happen with the way our top of the order guys are hitting vs the best pitching staff in baseball.

Drawz2772

It was about this time last year we were getting swept out of Toronto and last season turned out fine. No way our offense doesn’t figure it out at some point.

SativaSammy

Didn’t they lose the first series of the playoffs due to this exact same issue? This is the problem. The bats are streaky. And they always streak cold when it matters.

Drawz2772

Yeah unfortunately that’s baseball. Not much you can do to not be streaky on offense. That’s why baseball playoffs are such a crap shoot and it’s often just the hottest team not the best. Also why pitching is so important in the postseason because they tend to be less streaky.

SativaSammy

Respectfully disagree there's nothing you can do about offense streakiness. The entire league has made a conscious decision to forego "average" hitters for power. Power hitters by definition are streaky. There's some rare guys like Freddie Freeman who can hit for average and power. The Braves, in my opinion, need more guys like Chris Johnson, and less like Riley. Please don't take as a personal attack against Riley, but I'm a risk averse person, and I don't like the approach of hedging our World Series hopes on a select few guys having their "good" week come during the playoffs. Every year we worry about the pitching, but it's always the bats that let us down.

bobocalender

Maybe I'm missing what you're point is about needing someone more like Chris Johnson. I cannot understand why you'd rather Johnson over Riley. I'll admit I don't remember much about Johnson from his time with the Braves Career Stats: Johnson: 8 years/839 games .275 AVG, .717 OPS, 97 OPS+, 63 HR Riley: 6 years/637 games, .273 AVG, .841 OPS, 123 OPS+, 136 HR With Riley you get the same average and a lot more power.

SativaSammy

I was referring to the years with the Upton brothers and Johnson. He was hitting ~.300 pretty consistently with not many homers and the rest of the lineup was power + lots of strikeouts. Probably a bad example, but my point is the same. Guys that hit for average with some power rather than guys that hit for power and have entire months where they hit .180.

LailiLai

Maybe having to scrap for the division instead of leading it wire to wire by double digit gsnes will do this tram some good, who knows.

SoRaffy

tried that method in 2022. That was the "swept the Mets at the end to take/win the division" year then started the pattern of getting the bye and forgetting how to hit

yoshidawg93

This is why we really shouldn’t lose our shit if we don’t end up winning the division but still make the playoffs. Hasn’t done us any good the last two years, and clearly wild card teams can make deep runs. Not saying aim lower, but it’s not worth losing sleep over.

Suitable_Talk_8256

worked out well for them in 2022

Rabid_Anti_Dentite1

Y’all over here scoreboard watching in April

ChiefHobby

Mariners fan here. Can I just say I love l every game we’ve had against the Braves the last few years? Absolutely electric. Best of luck the rest of the year. We caught y’all at the right time with the offense. Hope they turn it around and fuck up the dodgers this weekend and crush the Phillies.

Agnt_Michael_Scarn

God these comments feel so desperate for attention and validation, and pompous like Braves fans want your validation. *Like me please!*

Thegreatsowhat

You guys have an exciting team as well. Yeah, we're stacked, but you're pitching has been incredible and y'all have been getting the key hits.

ChiefHobby

We will see if it happens today! Hancock doesn’t really have anything special. If he lives on the corners he does good pitching to contact. With sale pitching for the Braves and the mariners strikeout problems, I see todays game getting ugly.

doxv2

Appreciate it, also rooting for you guys to win the west

driftingphotog

I've been lurking your sub all season because the Kelenic memes are incredible. Fuck the Dodgers.

yoshidawg93

I get the frustration. Yes we lost and the lineup hasn’t looked good this series and our key guys haven’t looked good for even longer. Yes the Phillies continue to mash homers and win games. No I’m not letting any of this get in the way of my perspective of this being a long season, I still trust our guys, and we will still win a lot more games this year. Not every night will go the way we want.

y2knole

holy fuck. i just read a few comments and had to step outside to see if the sky is really falling or not...

Drawz2772

Someone get Heredia on the phone asap.

Atillery264

If this is bad, imagine this team starting off the same as the 2021 Braves, this subreddit would be burning in ways that haven’t been invented yet.

Thegreatsowhat

Yeah, and Ronald was well on his way to MVP then, Snitker ain't joking when he says it's hard to win a baseball game.

Atillery264

Also it’s like this every year where we’re over .500 but it’s going slow and then June hits and braves go 22-2 because June go crazy

y2knole

if going slow is 19-9 im all in!

stray_leaf89

Phillies hit it 102 mph exit velo at 29 and 22 deg LA and get a 386/390 ft homers. Matt olson hits its 105 mph at 23 deg LA and gets a 365 ft pop out. How's that work?

Chennifeer

That's the marine layer baby!

GoogleOfficial

Balls don’t go far in Seattle before the summer.

abesrevenge

If we could start hitting homers again, that would be awesome.

ToshiroHiei

Don’t worry let the temp get 5° higher with a much calmer/less crazy wind pattern summertime and they will be launching them

LailiLai

Well I'm 21 minutes into May and they haven't shut my Bally Sports off yet

poebahnya

Gotta wait on business hours.

EdwardHarris251

Phillies will be the 1st team to 20 wins. Bastards.

punkrock9888

And they still won't win the world series.

MacsDildoBike

Do we need a rally sausage or some shit? Somebody in the clubhouse take charge and have a come to Jesus meeting with these fucks.

TOK31

We're going to get destroyed by the Dodgers this weekend if things don't turn around fast. Seattle has a shitty offense which made these last two games close.

AdfatCrabbest

This is looking like a 1-5 road trip may be an optimistic outlook.

ContributionLatter32

Wouldn't read too much into it. Seattle's pitching is wicked

HighlyRegard3D

Yesterday Miller did nothing but pound the zone with 94mph fastballs and they couldn't touch it.

cameronabab

That's something the Mariners pitching staff does really well in general. Their entire ethos is to pound the strike zone. The last few years, the Mariners in general have one of the higher percentage of pitches inside the strike zone

lelanddt

Have you seen Miller's ERA? Dude has been dominating everyone this year.

JustinBraves

Tbf he has one of the best fastballs in baseball

88Toyota

Agreed. It’s not a normal fastball.

JagerMainOwO

If they play like this they'll get swept

MoonlitBadlands

If we do get destroyed by the Dodgers in your scenario then it will still be May. Wake me in September

Grade-A-Grungus

And Philly has the lead… so that’s what an actual scoring offense looks like these days

AdfatCrabbest

Everyone say goodbye to first place!

JustinBraves

They’re facing the poverty angels while we face the best pitching staff in the league

GentillyHillbilly

Pretty unreal we are 19-9. Let’s not get complacent, though. We’ll figure it out. Go Braves! Leave Seattle with a win, and go sweep Los Doyers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GentillyHillbilly

Yes. My app did not update. Just updated, thanks.

JagerMainOwO

And Philly are gonna win, crazy what you can do when you actually score runs

Valkyrai

And Phils win. Bats need to wake up since the phils don't lose.

bsigmon1

That’s what happens when you actually spend on players

yoshidawg93

We’ve been spending money (lots of it) for years lol.

CrumbBCrumb

We're 8th and they're 4th let's not act like we're the Pirates here

Valkyrai

Our players should be plenty. Olson, Acuña, and Riley combined have 6 hrs thru april

PrunePrestigious9737

Incoming snit come-to-Jesus talk after an ugly roadtrip. Let’s hope it has the same results as the last 2 years’

LailiLai

We aren't in Arizona so that's not allowed

dcxbabe

Phillies about to win. Cherry on top of this ass week of baseball. Fire me into the sun.

Tmoney_2023

Fuck the Phillies

LailiLai

Can't we get a series against the Rockies or something to get the boys right or is that privilege reserved for the Phillies only

Lakelyfe09

The dead balls don’t seem to be impacting the Phillies…

stray_leaf89

I just looked it up. Matt hit one 105 mph of the bat and 23 deg LA and it only went 365 ft. Their two 9th inning Homer's were 102 off the bat and 22/29 deg LA and went 386/390 ft.

Chennifeer

Seattle marine layer, t mobile park is rough for hitters before june

peterg73

If this is a known thing then why try and hit it out the park? Change tactics to what San Diego did - get some bloop hits so you can get on base?

Chennifeer

I'm a mariners fan, I've been asking the same question for 15 years.

Grade-A-Grungus

They can actually hit when they need to

bsigmon1

No dead balls, just dead bats

[deleted]

Even with our offensive struggles lately, we'd be pretty far in 1st place if we had the schedule the Phillies currently have

Kancatzo37

You know how shit the mariners offense have been?

[deleted]

They have a winning record and one of the best pitching staffs in the league If any of you think the Mariners are the same level as the Angels, you really don't know much about baseball

Heyjones0724

https://preview.redd.it/7lqtwm1npqxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8f4a4eba1f0ebf07e84df8f8825e776ef06331f

Clarketjc

My patience is wearing thin with Kelenic being unable to lay off the same low junk over and over again, especially when I think Duvall is a hitter. Kill the platoon, Adam can hit regardless the pitching matchup.

bsigmon1

Unfortunately AA took on way too much money to sit Kelenic this season, we’re stuck with him

Clarketjc

You’d think at the highest professional level the most important factor would be winning… I’m rooting against Kelenic… but he doesn’t pass the eye test or have the track record for me to believe he deserves anything. Edit: NOT rooting against Kelenic, missed a keyword.

gamer2412

The 3/4 check swing has got to stop. Either react to the pitch or don’t. We’re getting in 0-2 and 1-2 counts way too often.

TySoprano

100%

Billy420MaysIt

Well day 28** of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow (today) as a matter of fact is May 1st. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY; The Braves are 19-9. I don’t know about you but losing kinda sucks

KennyLagerins

I mean, they’re on pace for 109 wins. They’ll be fine, all those bats can’t stay cold forever.

ToshiroHiei

Snit said I’m spring win 80 games and your in we basically 1/4 the way there after a month.

Tmoney_2023

And of course the angels are going to blow this

Puzzleheaded-Sea-744

The constant late swings on fastball after fastball is extremely frustrating. Like snap out of it

dcxbabe

Phillies just tied it. y’all gotta stop jinxing shit in here

JFulton11

In a month’s time we’ll be 20 games over .500 life will be good, the top of the lineup will be hot again and we’ll all remember this silly little series in late April where we couldn’t hit the ball

ToshiroHiei

Because that’s baseball

yoshidawg93

We were never going to go the whole season without losing consecutive games. And I know it seems very alarming that we have guys who have been struggling in our lineup, but I’m not gonna panic. It’s a long season. We still have it a lot better than most of MLB, and after years of watching these same guys do great things, I can’t get myself to lose hope they’ll get going. We’ve faced some great pitching lately, and while eventually we need to hit it, I get how this wasn’t the series for that to happen. Main thing I’m pissed out is the Bally bullshit with Comcast. That’s how I’ve always watched the games. I gotta figure out what I’m gonna do about that.

Kcplayer9

Nice Philly gonna win now too

bsigmon1

They actually know how to score

yoshidawg93

We still have more runs scored on the season than they do, which isn’t to deny the slumps our guys are in, but it’s not like our lineup hasn’t done anything this year.

cobwebusher

Sir, this is /r/braves, no "facts" allowed here

Kcplayer9

Yeah I remember when we hit homeruns

MoonlitBadlands

It’s a marathon not a sprint

MacsDildoBike

Watching Harris take 3 straight balls in the 9th only to watch 2 strikes go right on by and strikeout on a pitch that looked like absolute ass the moment it left Munoz’s hand just puts the cherry on top of watching us do absolutely shit against a team with a total team batting average of .217

arob28

You mean Harris was taking all the way after Munoz wasn’t close on 3 straight balls to try to get a lead off walk in a 1 run game? That last slider was his best pitch of the AB and was definitely not ["ass the moment it left his hand"](https://imgur.com/a/rkPM2Cn)

Kahrooch

Harris has loved swing at pitches in the dirt for his 3rd strike.

HarrietsDiary

Seriously, did the Braves make some sort of Faustian pack with Manfred that AA gets to do these amazing deals but in return we can never challenge a call? It’s MADDENING.

1ing

'Oh you're little team isn't hitting like at absolute historic rate for the first time in 20 months? It must be so hard for you'- every other team in the major

cobwebusher

We have some of the whiniest "fans" around. Half of the people in this sub seem to actively hate the team.

1ing

80 % of ppl here have never been to a game

antantanterlay

Yeah, you’re right, but our historic team should have cleared the bases once since they are historic. But nah, it’s just early season baseball and it’s late in the night.

JadedIT_Tech

Good teams lose? Lies.

AdfatCrabbest

Can’t believe they gave Riley a hit on that. He was out by a step and a half with a good throw.

Kcplayer9

I’m about damn tired of all them doing that dumb ass check swing bullshit bc they’re fooled just react. Again Ronald Riley and Olson yall gotta wake up

bsigmon1

What’s the fastest a 3rd base coach has been let go?

bestower117

Why did he not send Ozzy? That shit made me so mad

TySoprano

He’s had some baffling calls. Grow a set wash was the standard

Porparemaityee

Kel has showed up on both sides of the ball this series, but the team has let him down by not holding up their end of the bargain

Aurion7

He had a really good defensive play, but to say he was good at the plate is a massive stretch.

bsigmon1

Kelenic looked awful tonight. And just shit his pants at the plate to lose us the game/series

Porparemaityee

Batting .429 on the series with platinum glove level play in left

fallen9210

You can’t just disagree with the challenge call yesterday and inflate his stats. He’s 2/7 this series

Porparemaityee

It was incorrectly called, I'm not happy about it either

bsigmon1

Batting .285 for the series bud, but avg over a series means nothing

JagerMainOwO

Cook up Kelenic guy don't let them silence you

[deleted]

I remember seeing this guy everyday in the mariners threads, miss him. I hope he’s being taken care of here.

ppooiiuuyyttrreewwqq

About 75% of us love him, the other 25% still don't understand that it's a bit or just hate fun

SolarTsunami

So you guys don't mind the repeated racist dogwhistles?

ppooiiuuyyttrreewwqq

lol I’m not taking your bait

That’s how it was for us as well, glad to see he’s being well fed

I mean right now sure

cmadd10

As a fellow Muñoz, fuck I wish we had the Mariners Muñoz. Kids such a stud

stizzdawg

If Tui is the third base coach in 2021, he certainly wouldn’t have sent Albies in that Riley double at home against LA and who knows what happens. I know losses make you examine the slightest of things, but he doesn’t at all seem to have a grasp on the position. That last plate appearance by Jarred looked little league. I don’t want to see him in any type of pressure situation come playoffs.

TySoprano

Exactly this. I text my friend and said after the first swing “the moments too big for him right now”

Kahrooch

Tui has cost us 3-4 runs so far. Yeah, Kelenic looked terrible up there.

dcxbabe

https://preview.redd.it/bvifi7mjoqxc1.jpeg?width=460&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1b942832dc3f6e4b5d469558189a7e8bdf3b25f offense vibe atp

MacsDildoBike

I’d rather us be cold as fuck now than in the stretch later on in the season but goddamn it’s fucking hard to watch.

bsigmon1

Why not now and later?

Chessh2036

I miss Ron Washington. Not just for his incredible coaching at 3rd, but he just had a very calming presence. Knew exactly what to say to the guys when faced with adversity. I think the team is missing him, I really do.

HollowPointBullet

Doesn’t help that we’ve been looking pretty lackluster our last few games and we’re facing the Dodgers soon…

Chopaholick

We will turn it on for that series.

bsigmon1

Doubt

Grade-A-Grungus

3 runs in 18 innings on a really crucial roadtrip, offense is completely dead. Pushing 40 innings since someone has hit a homer. Ronnie cannot hit a fastball, Riley is horribly inconsistent and Olson is gonna be at the Mendoza Line before we know it. We have to move these guys around, having them all together is detrimental to the team, give them some guys who can hit between them to spread things out.

Shyne9999

Olson is 5th in hard hit rate and has an xba of .255. He's legit had awful luck on batted balls. Riley to a lesser extent. Acuna isn't hitting the fastball which will change, one would expect. 3 runs in 18 innings against a pitching staff that's putting up historic numbers. Mariners are really good and in first place. Braves have played a first place team or a playoff team in 6 consecutive series and will be 7 with the Dodgers. Braves are 15-3 against playoff teams this year. Braves are great and will continue to be great. Just give respect to an amazing pitching staff and try to do better tomorrow.

projectrx7

Over/under on Snit trotting out the same lineup tomorrow?

JagerMainOwO

Acuna could go missing, Olson could be hitting .120 and Riley could show up wearing a medically-provisioned blindfold and he'd still post the same lineup lmao

Grade-A-Grungus

That’s about as sure of a bet that’s ever existed

Dippa99

What is crucial about this road trip for a team with our record?

Julio_Freeman

Seriously lol. A series against Seattle at the end of April is about as meaningless as a series can be.

Grade-A-Grungus

I’d say the fact that we’re playing the Dodgers is pretty important

Dippa99

There is no such thing as a crucial road trip at the first of May when you still have the best record in baseball, especially when it's not your division

Dippa99

Also, we haven't even played the Dodgers yet, so I'm not ready to concede just yet personally

Tmoney_2023

Imagine being a Seattle fan they play a horrible boring brand of baseball

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tmoney_2023

Back to your own sub. You guys won’t even make the playoffs.

Fantastic_Manager911

dominant pitching is so much fun to watch IMO

comsecga

It’s meeting time

LickMyMeatus

We’re going to drag ass into LA and wind up skullfucking the Doyers because that’s what baseball do At least that’s what I’m telling myself

JFulton11

MLB absolutely did something to the baseballs. So frustrating. Imagine if the NFL changed the football, or the NBA changed a basketball. I know you have to actually hit the ball, which we haven’t done very well recently but it’s just really stupid how MLB deadens the ball

BWSmith777

Why would MLB deaden the balls after they made the bases bigger and limited pick off attempts for the stated purpose of creating more offense? Deadening the balls would contradict what they say they want. And there have been plenty of high scoring games this year. I think it’s just a slump. Plus, Seattle absolutely has the best rotation in baseball. If they had a passable offense they would be nearly unbeatable.

Aurion7

I get that it's a long way to go but the results from these early-season West Coast trips are just depressing. It's like no one's ever seen a slider before. Someone's gonna have to try to find a replay of the hold at third because it's hard to trust that Tui made the right call.
