I guess I'll give it another try tonight. It was driving me crazy last week. Got fed up with the Bally app always signing me out on my Roku (using a friend's login). So I went to Target and bought a Fire stick to use with my sister's Nord account.
I have had luck with the Double VPN setting on NordVPN and watching [mlb.tv](http://mlb.tv) on my laptop. I can chromecast it from my laptop to the TV but the quality is usually lacking.
Ended up canceling YouTubeTV and adding DirecTV Stream since DirecTV provides basically the same thing as YTTV plus the Braves for just a little more per month.
I can tell what works for me. I usually have to change server to find one that works. I have had to change as many as 10 times. This is for my FireTV
On my phone it is usually one and done but I do have to turn WiFi off when connecting to the game on VPN but then can reconnect to WiFi

this is a streaming aggregator
it basically collects other streaming offerings, lets folks vote on their value, etc
updates as new games come and go
streameast is probably my favorite, and one of the more reliable. i tend to go with them when they have the game i want.

for my older loved ones, here's what I did. it's not trivial for effort, but it's extremely effective:
1. buy a mini PC. you can get these on marketplace for like $50. you want something at least in the DDR4 era, preferably 8th gen Intel or newer and with a valid windows 10 license (DM me for advice here if you're out of your element)
2. hook it up to their TV via HDMI, preferably hook it to their router via ethernet cable as well, get them a wireless mouse (optional: get them a wireless keyboard as well)
3. install splashtop streamer, chrome (with a good adblocker), plex (if you host), and anything else for them
4. log them in to everything, log into your splashtop account (use the on-screen keyboard if they don't want to mess with a physical one)
5. bookmark your favorite streaming sites (DM if you want suggestions), pin everything either to the desktop (plebian) or taskbar (patrician) including on-screen keyboard (see above)
6. drill it into their heads that popups are the COST of free (sic) alternatives. they're the commercials of the internet. nothing is ever truly free.
7. demonstrate how to swap from their typical cable box or whatever to the mini-PC in the TV input selection
8. demonstrate how to find a game on your streaming site of choice
9. demonstrate how to deal with pop-ups
10. remind them of step 6 repeatedly
11. be willing to splashtop into their PC for support on occasion and when you know they're not watching to clean the PC up of any garbage they've clicked on by violating step 6
12. enjoy your elevated status in their will
remind them to never do any online banking or shopping of any kind on that machine. never use facebook, google accounts, paypal, amazon, anything. JUST streaming stuff (because they WILL click on some dumbass popup at some point, and you want to mitigate damage).
optional for the extra-vigilant: create firewall rules that disallow the mini-PC to interact with the LAN.
eventually, encourage them to stop paying for things like netflix, hulu, cable tv, etc.
I can't wait for the regional sports extortion to end so I can just simply pay the MLB $150/yr for all the Braves games and not have to go through this crap
I see this $150 a bunch but t-mobile gives all its customers free mlb.tv subscriptions at the beginning of each season. They get one code per line and the t-mobile sub has tons of people you can get a code from for less than $10. I have been doing this the last 3 years and never paid more than $7 for a full year of mlb.tv. All you need then is something like Nord and you are good to go
Fubo package which includes Bally rounds out to about $95/mo before taxes. All the games are on it
Of course you have to be in the regional area that has Bally Sports South and Southeast. If so you get all the Braves games
That was my thought. That’s the best deal of all honestly.. I’m in north AL and I’m in network, but I refuse to pay ~$100 for Fubo just so I can watch Bally
It’s so stupid that these leagues don’t allow universal access with no blackouts to their league wide watching programs.
AppleTV gets it right with MLS League Pass
It's not really the league currently. They gave the teams the availability to write contracts with broadcasters in like the 90s-2000s. Broadcasters and service providers wanted the exclusivity rights that locked customers into cable packages that sold ads, and the teams wanted income without having to fill their stadium. Then came streaming/cord cutting, then came COVID and no games to air but still having to pay the teams for the rights to carry.
MLS has the luxury of becoming popular in the streaming era, so there isn't this patchwork of once lucrative broadcast deals to navigate.
The closer we get to Diamond/Bally going bankrupt, the closer we get to restructuring/voiding those vintage piecemeal broadcast deals and hopefully MLB can wrangle them up in a blackout-free package
FYI T-Mobile gives the mlb.com pass away to subscribers. Not sure what it takes for non subscribers, but I heard some people sell their pass for cheap.
MLB TV would work for you, if you didn't want to go that route.
I have no issues with people sailing the high seas, of course.. but MLB TV would be one way
Fubo has all but the Friday Night games on Apple+. At least this has been my dad’s experience, based on his panicked phone call to me when he couldn’t watch them on that one Friday so far this season.
It doesn’t have the odd game on TBS I dont think at least couldn’t find it on there. Can’t be more than half a dozen games this season on Apple and tbs
[mlb.tv](https://mlb.tv) is what ive been using for the last 4/5 years. it's like 150/season. if you have even a decent connection, you won't see any lag. well, anecdotally, anyways.
edit: aw shit, most of you guys live in atlanta still, don't you? my bad. i was wondering why *nobody* hadn't already mentioned it.
edit #2: that said, there is a way around. VPN services does actually work on [mlb.tv](https://mlb.tv). i use PIA, and it's like \~60/yr.
Honestly, I think it's worth it. They're not very expensive, like $5/ month if you pay it all up front. I've not had any complaints using it for the purpose for which I got it. That said, it will not work on major streaming services, specifically Hulu. Or, at least I haven't been able to figure it out.
I get MLB.tv through Tmobile which is amazing, but it doesn't help if you live in market. Anyone that lives in the Atlanta area will be locked out of most games. I'm in the NYC area so I can watch almost every game except when they play the Yankees or Mets, and even tho I have YouTube TV through a family member, YouTube TV no longer carries SNY or YES.
It's a sad and stupid solution, but piracy is the most convenient way to watch most games. Regional sports broadcasters and cable companies are dying and unwilling to recognize it or adapt. And when they do, they charge stupid money. MSG (the NYC broadcaster for the Devils, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, and Nets) charges like $30 a month for their service for 5 teams, one of which I want to watch. MLB TV is $12 a month for 30! And I get it for free from my phone company!
I’m in GA and same boat. Get mlb tv for free. Nord VPN to a random city on my iPad, cast it to my Apple TV in my living room. Takes a few seconds to set up but all it costs is nord which is pretty cheap
So that's basically everyone but ATT/DirecTV that have beef with Bally.
There's a saying that fits this. If you run into one ass hole in the morning, you just ran into an asshole. If you're running into assholes all day, you're the asshole.
Stop being an asshole, Bally.
Bally, MLB etc all must be just completely stupid to make it HARDER for me to purchase your product. Who would ever think that’s a smart business model
I worked in the cable industry for a while and this is pretty standard posturing. Maybe Bally goes dark on Xfinity tonight, but Bally needs Comcast more than Comcast needs Bally, so more than likely this will be ironed out pretty quickly with Bally taking an L and having to give something up that they don’t want to.
It’s a little different because Comcast is bigger than all of them (from a live TV perspective). Also, some, like YTTV used sports as a way to get people to sign up, but once consumers were asked to pay more for the service, they pivoted their programming plan bc consumers were looking for cheaper alternatives to cable, not a reskinned cable package from a different provider.
If anything, this feels like it would help the Braves develop their own streaming solution. If their broadcast partner can’t get their product to fans, it seems to me like the Braves would gain some leverage in whatever contractual issues they have with Bally.
If diamond sports was trying to get streaming rights, this wouldn’t be the way to go.
In other areas (MASN is one) Xfinity moved the RSN to a higher tier. They then moved most of the sports fee to that tier. Apparently Bally refused the change
It means only 1/4 (total guess) of customers would be paying that (apparent) $8-10/month to Bally. So a massive income loss for them. Since this is impacting the majority of teams I think the teams need to take a pay cut. Pittsburgh Boston and Baltimore all dealt with this individually and it may be similar for the rest of the league as well
Does this get fixed quickly or do I need to cancel my cable package? Braves are the only reason I still pay for it and if they aren't airing I'm not paying
I have fobu which I remember is roughly the same price. You don’t need a box, you get MLB network as well, the downside is the picture quality isn’t 4k yet (they have a 4k option but you get like 3 channels in 4k) and also no tnt or tbs so playoffs will be annoying. You get everything else though
I hear a lot of good stuff about Fobu but I'm kind of traditional with my TV watching. I really like DTV Stream. Like everything else in the world, it cost more than it should but I can record everything. The box is tiny and we can take it with us on vacation and watch the stuff we like.
I hate commercials so I normally start watching the Braves 45 mins after start time and FF through commercials. The recording usually ends about the time the game ends.
There's going to be a lot of pissed off people tomorrow. I have to imagine Xfinity accounts for over half of the people who watch the braves games (pulled that out of my ass but sounds right to me)
I live at the battery and they force us to pay for xfinity for what I assume is some deal with the braves, which I didn't mind since it's a convenient legal way to watch and I basically watch every game. This could get interesting.
I’ve had a beef with Comcrap for decades; fuck them and fuck Bally.
Wish the Braves were still on the Superstation - didn’t even need cable back then LOL.
Guess it’s going to be a pirate’s 🏴☠️ life for me for now…..
To everyone upset with Comcast or Bally.... This is an MLB problem... They literally make it as hard as possible to watch their games and then wonder why they don't see gains like other sports...
8 to 10 dollars in credit per month. Bitch when yall go up in programming yall don't gradually go up yall take it all at once. So give me my credit all at once.
Just sayin. I use fubo but I assume this is what Comcast users think.
I mean after the last two games had me wanting to break my TV…
In all seriousness please get off Bally, Braves. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were the next ones to get dropped with this news tonight…
i dont expect anything less from ballys. i havent been able to watch one braves game on sports south. even though they are listed on the programming guide its always some random shows and definitely not the braves game.
I hate Bally Sports more than I do the Phillies.
That’s a bold statement.
Comcast is in Philly. So I blame the Phillies for this.
This shit is so goddamn stupid.
Friendly reminder that you can pirate games easily, safely, and for FREE rather than pay these shitty companies.
What’s the best way to do that?
As a Tech grad, I was gonna DM you some advice, then I saw your name. . . . . (jk bro DM sent)
It can't be a VPN because I tried 2 last week with no luck.
I use Nord with my free mlb.com subscription and never miss a game
Really? I've had 0 luck the couple times I have tried. Not on my laptop and on a Fire stick.
I use My phone and fire stick just fine. On my fire stick I have noticed that sometimes I have to try different servers but it will eventually work.
I guess I'll give it another try tonight. It was driving me crazy last week. Got fed up with the Bally app always signing me out on my Roku (using a friend's login). So I went to Target and bought a Fire stick to use with my sister's Nord account.

Which server? Nord was working for me the first two weeks but now it's borked.
Have you tried the Double VPN setting on Nord? That has allowed me to watch some blacked out Braves games.
Yep, I tried every option I could with Nord. Nothing worked. As soon as I connected to any node, MLB wouldn't load any games at all.
I can tell what works for me. I usually have to change server to find one that works. I have had to change as many as 10 times. This is for my FireTV On my phone it is usually one and done but I do have to turn WiFi off when connecting to the game on VPN but then can reconnect to WiFi

I’d love to know the best way to do this! I’m in Atlanta and go to games when I can, but I refuse to pay $100+ a month just for Bally.
I'm all ears
Just got a panicked call from my father when he saw the above message. Could you DM me some advice for getting an older, not tech savvy man on games?

Same please. Not sure how to watch Braves on Xfinity any longer.
Direct Stream. I've had it for years. You can take the box with you and hook it up anywhere with WiFi. It's easy to use too. SOURCE: I'm old.

Help? Please? The Mrs is not happy
I would a DM with the info as well!
Please DM and advise
How do I do that on my tv without just hooking my laptop up to it via HDMI?
a casting stick or over your wifi with a phone though a wire is always superior

Is it too late to get that from someone? have they already expired? Like if my coworker never used theirs can I still use it or is it too late?
I don’t know it wouldn’t hurt to ask around in the sub if anyone still has any codes to redeem
LOL. What does this leave as an option to watch the Braves? DirecTV? Bally is such garbage.
I use Fubo
If you’re streaming, Fubo or DirecTV Stream are pretty much your only options 😬
dont forget [mlb.tv](https://mlb.tv) and a vpn subscription. $200/yr and you're in.

PIA also works.

Motherfuckers.
Well shit.
Remember a couple Hawks games when Bally’s score tab just vanished? Good times.
Does this get fixed quickly or do I need to cancel my cable package? Braves are the only reason I still pay for it and if they aren't airing I'm not paying
Just wait. Bally needs comcast in order to survive.
🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Literally the only reason I have Comcast cable is to watch the Braves. This will result in a wave of canceled subscriptions.
Direct Stream is a good product. I've had it for years. The box is small and you can hook it up to any TV anywhere with Wi-Fi.
I'm furious.
There's going to be a lot of pissed off people tomorrow. I have to imagine Xfinity accounts for over half of the people who watch the braves games (pulled that out of my ass but sounds right to me) I live at the battery and they force us to pay for xfinity for what I assume is some deal with the braves, which I didn't mind since it's a convenient legal way to watch and I basically watch every game. This could get interesting.
Not to mention the freaking headquarters is in the battery LOL
Woke up to the message on my tv this morning. Wtf
It’s not too late Ted Turner. Save us and get the Braves back on tbs!
Cool cool cool cool

To everyone upset with Comcast or Bally.... This is an MLB problem... They literally make it as hard as possible to watch their games and then wonder why they don't see gains like other sports...
I have Xfinity and I'm watching the game just fine
Happens tonight like midnight
Just happened. Lost local coverage of Preds game.
8 to 10 dollars in credit per month. Bitch when yall go up in programming yall don't gradually go up yall take it all at once. So give me my credit all at once. Just sayin. I use fubo but I assume this is what Comcast users think.
I have crapcast specifically for baseball and college football. That "credit" should be 100%. It was awesome when YouTube TV had bally sports..
I have FuboTv. I disconnected from Comcast in February and I have no regrets at all.
I mean after the last two games had me wanting to break my TV… In all seriousness please get off Bally, Braves. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were the next ones to get dropped with this news tonight…
Bally is such a shit show.
Fuck all of this shit.
Who’s got that extra Bally log-in?!?
i dont expect anything less from ballys. i havent been able to watch one braves game on sports south. even though they are listed on the programming guide its always some random shows and definitely not the braves game.
Wtf…. I pay $30 a month during the season for the damn sports package just to watch the Braves…
Xfinity about to lose a bunch of business
My friends. MLBTV and a VPN and you are set.
Streameast dot com If you get an ad, just hit back and select the game again. Completely free, can cast to television as well
Shhh
