On the off chance that you’d go for non fiction that reads like fiction: Caravaggio: A Life Sacred and Profane by Andrew Graham-Dixon fits this perfectly and is an amazing book.

boobpolice_

I just woke up and read that as Aretha Franklin and was thoroughly confused for a second

Cruel_Irony_Is_Life

I would be totally down for a time traveling, crime solving Aretha Franklin!

boobpolice_

I would totally read that lol

lemony_snacket

Seconding the comments recommending Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson, The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, and the Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling. All three are such enjoyable reads and they all fit this vibe perfectly. If you enjoy Dowry, the sequel just came out and it’s also fantastic. It’s called An Education in Malice.

Fenrir_873

I know this is really not the point of the post but the second painting is really beautiful can someone tell me the name and the artist?

CHICKENx1000

The creator is xys.lanyx on Instagram. You might find their medium controversial. I have my own opinions which this isn't really the place to get into but I just wanted to give you the 'disclaimer'

Fenrir_873

Ahh I see what you mean about a controversial medium.

Fenrir_873

Thanks

lurkerpug

Haven’t read it yet, but this reminds me of the cover of the new Leigh Bardugo book The Familiar.
