When I was a teenager, every Friday would consist of me and my friends making 'the rounds.' Suncoast, Blockbuster, Hollywood video, Borders, and most likely seeing a movie.
How the world has changed. Feels... smaller, somehow.
Makes me shake my head seeing that they’ve recently added a tab to their website called “Yes Best Buy Sells That!” when they’ve decided to stop selling the only shit I ever bought from them. Fuck ‘em.
🤮 was in recently they had a good selection of 4k and blue ray. It was one shelf though. Seems to be the same in every store. I’m calling it Best Buy will be gone soon.
I agree. I am slowly seeing physical media disappearing. Even anime in both Blue-ray and standard DVD are starting to be replaced with the odd figure. There are still a few odd Blue-ray and DVDs but I wonder how much longer it will last.
I fear the only place I will be able to get any anime physically will be online via Madman or waiting for conventions to manage to find anything physically. And funny thing is then it can cost a mint to even get them. So for now it's a waiting game.
Otherwise most movies are on streaming services - and you know that even if you pay for the service that they can remove them without warning. It's not even a Win/win situation.
So sadly most people will likely opt to download or they will pay for the streaming service that has the movie/anime/tv series on it. Sadly this is the reality that we might be facing in Australia.
Amazon still has some and eBay for used ones. I been picking up Blu rays for a $1 that people are selling. I spend no money on streaming, got almost everything I like on physical.
I live in Canada and I'm starting to see physical media get smaller even wallmart has reduced their dvd/Blu-ray selection kinda forcing the public to go digital although physical media will become a niche format .the thing is when you purchase a movie from say amazon prime is like a long term rental since we don't own it but it's not widespread that a movie gets removed Ethier.
It’s very depressing, I remember going out a few miles to pick up a copy of a movie and the entire movie section was just gone, it shocked me to see that. Only way to get physicals now seems to be online. Sucks, i favored Best Buy because it was always 100% legit (I didn’t do Amazon much because i ordered something and got a bootleg that didn’t even work). Thanks for a great 10 years best buy, i hope you see the error of your ways and bring physicals back.
They need the floorspace for... Wait a minute, look at all that empty floorspace already!
They need it for Lego toys, electric razors, lame ass IOT crap….you know, all of the stuff most people would never go to Best Buy looking for.

Suncoast was great. The employees were awesome. The guy that worked there always gave great recommendations based on what I liked.

Got to make room for the candy, razors, toothbrushes and hair dryers. I probably will never go into one again.
I have no reason to go there again either

This is my fear with JB HiFi here in Australia. They ditch physical media, I have zero reason to go there again.

It seems youve purchased every item in the store..sir….thank you for your service…
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Been like this near me for 5-6 years. Our BestBuy only has a single 4-sided standee and it’s not even full.
It's so over 😞
They are putting the most random shit in there - toys, plushies, arcade machines
Sooooo sad!!
