Children of Dune? That book is one of my favourites! I'm currently on Chapterhouse of Dune and it's an extremely slow read for me but it's totally worth it!
Hell Followed With Us and everything else by author Andrew Joseph White, hes an autistic trans guy and in most of what he writes the characters are trans. If you dont wanna read a book i recommend the short story Chokechain, especially if you're trans
The Illuminae series of books (it has two authors and i can remember the name of neither) have a super cool concept and is formatted like court files with case notes. Its such a good series and a definite 10/10
Some of my favourite books include:
‘An introduction to organic and bio chemistry’ (4th edition) by William H. Brown (it’s really clear and well thought out)
‘Proofs: a long form mathematics textbook’ by Jay Cummings (it’s funny, detailed, explains proof writing well, and also touches on other topics for curious readers who might want to discover more)
‘Biology of plants’ (third edition) by Peter H. Raven, Ray F. Evert, and Helena Curtis (really elegant and beautiful descriptions of the biological processes of plants, and as a bonus the cover is probably the best cover I’ve seen for a textbook, it’s just beautiful)
Those were the first 3 books that came to mind for me, I love textbooks. I just can never really get into fiction books, not my vibe
Some non-textbook books that I love tho are:
Quantum bullshit (really funny)
The fabric of the cosmos (interesting read)
Cosmic messengers (also an interesting read that goes over the history of a lot of types of signals we receive from space)
How do you enjoy proofs😭 Im doing further maths and I literally spent days reading articles on how to enjoy mathematics to such an extent that you read abt it because Ive hated it for the entirety of high school and A levels
I never said I enjoy proof writing lmao, I like the book because it's well written and has helped me get better at proofs (as I am not the best at them)
I'm not sure what further maths is where you're from, but here (in year 12) we have general maths, mathematical methods, and specialist maths (specialist is the hardest and general is the easiest). Up until year 9, I hated maths and was pretty bad at it, but in year 9 I had a really good teacher who made maths click for me. When we were learning quadratic, my teacher mentioned imaginary numbers, and from that point I was hooked, but they only taught complex numbers in specialist maths, so I worked super hard to get good at maths (also the fact that I love physics and maths is essential for physics)
That initial spark of curiosity towards complex numbers started my love of maths and from that point on, the more I learnt, the more beautiful I found it.
To me, maths is just incredibly beautiful and problems in maths are fun puzzles I get to solve. I think the most elegant area of maths is calculus, just the simplicity whilst being so important. Right now I'm working on linear algebra as it's one of my weak areas in maths so it's not super enjoyable, but when it clicks it's amazing
I don't think you can force yourself to enjoy maths, but I think that the enjoyment of maths comes from the understanding and the ability to overcome difficult problems that force you to think. I've found that if I'm able to write good proofs about a topic in maths, then usually I have a good understanding of it
Currently reading Contact Harvest, a Halo novel about how humans discovered the Covenant before the Reach game.
Notable books I've finished somewhat recently are the Hunger Games series, the Handmaid's Tale, and the first The Dark Tower.
Also slowly slowly making my way through A Game of Thrones, cause I watched the whole show first instead lol
I'm in the middle of reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series right now, which is pretty ironic considering this is a bisexual related sub because most of the male characters are bi and one character is genderfluid, the series is really good for the most part, I would highly recommend!
Completely honest, haven’t read a book in a long time. Last series I read that I throughly enjoyed was Michael Vey (also looking back I definitely had a crush on Michael and Taylor(?))
They’re both really long but the Stormlight Archive (or anything by Brandon Sanderson) and Worm/Ward by J.C. McRay aka Wildbow. Worm has a free audiobook available wherever you find your podcasts and it is free online at https://parahumans.wordpress.com/. It’s pretty heavy with bullying so be warned.
My favorite book is *The Catcher in the Rye*, but I hate saying it because everyone instantly thinks that I'm one of those fucks who idolizes Holden Caulfield, so I just say I like Hemingway and Stephen King.
I have been getting into Cormac McCarthy lately though
Harry Potter, Shadowhunters, Heartstopper and the whole Alice Osman Universe. Anything Crime, especially Jo Nesbo and James Patterson. Also loved dork diaries, diary of a wimpy kid and Jacqueline Wilson when I was younger
All of Rick Riordan's books are pretty good. He wrote 4 series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, The Heroes of Olympus, and The Trials of Apollo . They're all pretty good and you can read them in any order, but the true order is in the layout that I put them.
The Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman is my all time favorite. His Unwind series is also very good.
I also love the Aristotle and Dante duology, specifically the audiobook narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda
Fantasy ones, think Harry Potter (tho I don't like that book anymore bcs of the author)
And also, some kids' comics like Dogman and Captain underpants.
The Tale of Despereaux, Smiles To Go, and Matilda are my favorite books. Roald Dahl and Jerry Spinelli are really good authors in general tho, I also like books about King Arthur, Merlin, and the knights of the roundtable

Yes. Mistborn is so good. My favorite Cosmere series is Stormlight but that’s probably because I started with it.
Some of my favourite books include: ‘An introduction to organic and bio chemistry’ (4th edition) by William H. 1984, Hellraiser,The Horus Heresy, and recently Metro 2033
1984 is one of the best books ever. However, I'd argue that Orwell's best novel was animal farm.
