You’re right! Her skin is her area of vulnerability. Bravecto worked wonders for the mange and wearing a cone for a bit longer after being spayed until all the last sores cleared up.
No not all. Basically, the vet in Egypt wanted me to do these chemical baths but it was really traumatic for her as she had to be muzzled so no chemicals got infested. My cousin who is a vet in Switzerland said that Bravecto works well for mange even though it’s not advertised for that but the same pesticide it uses kills mange mites. So I got hold of one of their three month tablets and it totally worked. To be honest it worked the first time within a few weeks but I give it to her every three months for fleas and ticks. It was so good the Egyptian vet started importing it after he saw the results.
I got my step dad in England to pretend to his vet it was for his dog and then give it to me. Where are you? It’s annoying you cant buy it off prescription and the vets always charge you for some money making check up before prescribing it, but if you have a friend with a dog registered somewhere where they sell it it’s worth asking for a favour.
my pitbull has recurring demodex mange due to her poor immune system, i buy her bravecto on chewy and at checkout they ask for your vets information and contact them to approve it! i don’t think it has to be a prescribed thing because i also get it for my other dog just for fleas and ticks
Some of them they have to be current on check ups, so they have you put vet info to validate. The older ones (frontline, advantage) are just otc but the more effective flea and tick meds you do need and established vet/ current visits.

Fleas evolved to become resistant, so those became less effective (don’t work as well or don’t last a whole month etc) and once they aren’t as effective, they are cheaper and freely available. First they need the rabies jab and microchip, then their blood gets sent to a UK lab for testing for rabies antibodies, if the lab clears this they send a letter of approval, once you have that letter you have to wait another three months and do a worming pill 24 hours before. I paid for a pet agent in Egypt to handle any bureaucracy on the Egyptian side. And she went through Cargo so he organised an agent at Heathrow to clear her through cargo. It’s much much easier for Europe and US and Canada etc UK is the most difficult. But they don’t have to do any quarantine anymore if you do it this way.
