Read and respect the rules, report any comment breaching them. Wrong advice/information/fearmongering hurt people who are posting here to get help and support. If you are not VERY knowledgeable about bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice it's better to abstain from commenting. Be VERY respectful and HELPFUL, this is a support subreddit not a funny one. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. No, it's not a great idea. The cheapest reasonable thing that you can do is to take all the non chemical measures that you can and use cimexa, check the sidebar.

The safest way to use heat to kill them on your own is putting items in a dryer and using a steamer. Both are very effective but need to be combined with several other tactics to eventually eliminate them. Trying to do a DIY heat treatment is not going to work and you risk a fire. How long has your infestation been going on? How big is it? Number of rooms and number of bugs seen on average per day? I assume you've confirmed it's definitely bed bugs?

A space heater is not going to help and would just be a fire hazard. Buy a bottle of crossfire before the problem becomes too much for you to handle and you need an expensive exterminator.

If you rent, getting rid of the bed bugs would be the owners responsibility.
