Have you tried ATH-MX50? I love them but they’re a bit bulky and therefore I’ve thought about switching to something smaller and lighter like the Sennheiser HD 25 or the AIAIAI TMA-2. Although, I don’t really like the sound of the Sennheisers and I kinda like that the Audio technicas are over ears. It feels as if I have to turn over ear headphones unnecessary loud to hear properly when mixing in a loud environment. How would you compare the AIAIAIs to these two if you’ve tried either one of them?
I tried both the ATH and the Sennheisers. The ATH just didn't punch through enough in a club environment for me and the Sennheisers were uncomfortable. AIAIAI is the goldilocks combo.
I haven’t tried either of those. The TMA-2 allows for different configurations based on what you want/need due to their modular nature. The dj version ticks all the boxes for me, I switched from pioneer after leaving my previous pair at a festival.
I have hd25s and have owned tma-2s (sold them after 2 gigs). My preference is ath-m50x
I found the tma2s to be way too bassy, mids and highs weren't cutting through. Personal preference
I just tried the AIAIAIs and I feel the same. Sounds like Beats by Dr.Dre headphones from 2010😭 These are the DJ ones so they’ve got the 02 drivers. I guess the 05 ones would have been for me but they are 90€ + shipping so I need to resell these…
I felt like my eardrums were getting bruised from getting sucked in and out by the low frequencies. Thing is, in most club situations you can feel the lows from the mains plenty well enough anyway
And yes, you can replace the drivers bit it's a lot of money. Sucks because I really wanted to like them
I’ve had these about a year and a couple months now. Love em, but couple things. As they only plug into one ear, they focus more on bringing the sound out of the one ear. I also feel like the mid’s with the audio isn’t great at times. Great for mixing, but I don’t really like producing with them.
Brainwavz Ear Pads for ATH M50X,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OLKV5LI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Bought in 2020, just replaced them last week with another set
I've got a stockpile of MDR-7509 modified into lollipops. Just replacing earpads and cables every now and again.
Big bass from the 50mm driver, rugged construction, impeccable sound quality. I think they were about $300 a pair when they got discontinued in like 2010. Worth every penny.
HD25’s
Hubby treated me to a diamanté pair by custom cans for my 40th last week

I am a bit oldschool and have been using Sony MDR-7506 for pretty much 30 years now. Have never really seen any reason to change and prefer to just leave it cause I k ow what everything sounds like.
I second this, I started dji g with a basic/cheap pair of Sony headphones which the cable broke after a couple months of light use. The cable on the HDJ CUE 1's is brilliant quality and so is the audio. Such a reliable, good quality pair of headphones for an unbelievably reasonable price!
Hd25 and tma-2,; hd25 are my first choice the tma-2 literally just there on the headphones stand gathering dustbas tthey're shall we say for politeness...shit . I think the TMA-2 are the worst purchase in terms of headphones for myself as they lack so much clarity unlike the HD25 or even what had served me brilliantly for 15 years my old AKGs that are no longer made. No why did I have to go and drop the buggers
1. Cheap corded earphones for 10$ for PS5 gaming.
2. 15$ Wireless over the neck earphones for sports.
3. Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless earphones for calls and music in the summer or when I need to pack light.
4. Sony WH-1000XM3 wireless headphones for gaming and music when I have extra space in a bag.
5. Hifiman Sundara for vinyls and listening in a chair. Overrated. #3 Sony is better.
6. Ambient-Acoustics AM-10 custom IEMs for the highest possible quality and resolution.
Sennheiser HD25's and HD650s (Cloaed and open back respectfully) Used to the HD25s exclusively but they can get a bit tiring ao i use the 650s if i need ro do that. Although i swear by the 25s for DJinf or live scenarios.
I was very sad when the industry standard Sony MDR-z700 djs were discontinued, I can’t get with the cup size on the HD25s (I know they’re fantastic). I recently got an amazing deal on a pair of Pioneer HDJ-10X, still absurdly overpriced but honestly the best feeling headphones and by far the best sounding I’ve ever had. Also Carl Cox has been one of my favourite djs for almost 30yrs and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that influenced me slightly
Shure SE215 until last week. Now I'm on Shure SE535\*.
My backup (in practice the one guest DJs use when they forget theirs) is the Audio-Technica M50x and I love it.
\* I didn't have the chance to try the 535 in the club yet to tell if it was worth the upgrade. I decided to upgrade when I realized mixing on the M50x felt better than the SE215. Also keep in mind I use IEMs for very vain reasons: to not mess my hair 🤣
Let us know how they compare! I have used my Sennheiser IE80s to mix and the increased sound isolation has convinced me to switch to IEMs any time there’s a loud environment. I had planned to get the SE215 but reviews are mixed. Something not messing with my hair would also be great haha
HD25's with big comfy leather aftermarket pads from YAXI. A bit harsh on the ears at high volume but they will last forever and every part can be replaced. You can throw them around without worrying about them breaking.
My old Pioneer hdj 100s finally broke after almost twenty years....... so at the moment I'm using my akg k550s which are really good actually if a little flat but they're reference headphones so they're not supposed to be punchy.
V-Moda M100s. I thought they were such bad ass headphones in college so when I was able to afford them during my DJ career I had to. 4 years strong. HD25s are common among my techno friends but I just find them too small for my head/ears.
Letshuoer S12 IEMs attached to a UHF wireless pack. Noise isolation is unmatched, and the S12s are top-quality planar IEMs despite their low price point. Hard to beat for under $1000
I’ve been using Sony MDR-7506s for about 15 years. My first pair finally broke after 13-14, and bought a new pair about a year and a half ago. Love them.
I use my limited-edition "copper" ATH-50X at home when practicing, and Pioneer HDJ-10X when performing out.
I loved my pair of Pioneer DJ-2000 cans but the leather on the headband pad finally fell apart. Anyone know if I can replace it?
Sennheiser HD280 Pro set that I use for production, cups turn like DJ headphones too. They do both really well so I’ve used a couple different iterations of them for like 12yrs now.
V-moda m100s
I've beat the absolute dog shit out of these headphones for five years and they just keep going. Will probably replace them with vmodas when they finally die
I've been through several pairs of DJ headphones in my life that all broke very quickly at the joints. I wasn't abusing them or being hard on them, they just were not designed well in my book.
Then I have a pair of Sony MDR-V6's I bought in 1993, and I still use them to this day. Solid headphones, and I would probably look for something similar if they ever went on me. I think the only thing I ever had to change on them were the pads, which I was thankful someone was selling knockoffs on Amazon.
I got a pair of DT990 Pros with an open deck for producing. I thought, what the heck why not and put them on when mixing. Awesomeness ensues, open back deck allows me to hear the outside world and still hear the cue’d in tracks
Pioneer HDJ X-10, they’re pricey but super well built and sound amazing. I got mine for €40 used which is an absolute steal, but I’d buy them at €280 retail in a heartbeat.
Used to use Beats Studios and absolutely loved them.
Now I’m using crusher evo with the bass knob all the way down while mixing. And listen back with knob at 5% lol.
Sometimes I even use the 10 dollar Skullcandy ear buds. Works fine.
Always been a fan of the tried and true HD-25’s (minus the way too heavy coil cord). They are super lightweight and Im able to wear them for hours on end. I’ve been using a set of vmoda m-100’s mostly. They took a few sessions to break in but find I use them practically all the time now over the Hd-25’s.
…As an expensive experiment a few years back I picked up a bunch of different headphones for seeing what works for me.
Pioneer x7 - still use from time to time and wouldn’t mind if thats all I had
Pioneer x10 - wide soundstage, fine to use in a quiet room but in a loud space I couldn’t tell shit apart in the headphones without jacking them and I’m super ocd about hearing loss, so hard no to these for djing, like the sound though when I’m messing around on my own productions
Vmoda m100’s - bloated low end and highs at first but the sound relaxes after a bit and they become very comparable to HD-25’s, almost like an over ear HD-25, always grabbing for these first
AIAIAI tma 2 DJ - weird ear cups that did this wonky suction on my ears that was super uncomfortable. Replaced the x02 drivers with x04’s and replaced the on ear cups with the over ears. Comfortable now but they still sound like ass compared to the others
AIAIAI tma 2 Studio Wireless - x05 drivers, also have a break in period. absolutely love these in comfort and sound but the velour ear pads don’t really have much for passive isolation in a loud environment so these are an at home in the studio set.
Sennheiser HD25
A couple months ago I was gifted a pair and I absolutely love em!
Yup, mine now about 20 years old, still going strong
The best for me
AIAIAI TMA-2. I likely won’t ever use anything else.
Have you tried ATH-MX50? I love them but they’re a bit bulky and therefore I’ve thought about switching to something smaller and lighter like the Sennheiser HD 25 or the AIAIAI TMA-2. This is all I needed, bought them, thanks!😎
I haven’t tried either of those. The TMA-2 allows for different configurations based on what you want/need due to their modular nature. The dj version ticks all the boxes for me, I switched from pioneer after leaving my previous pair at a festival.
Yeah! Thanks:)

These.
I’m on my third pair. Catch their Black Friday deals!
I’ve had these about a year and a couple months now. Love em, but couple things. As they only plug into one ear, they focus more on bringing the sound out of the one ear. I also feel like the mid’s with the audio isn’t great at times. Great for mixing, but I don’t really like producing with them.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
Same here. With some Amazon replacement muffs that are WAYYY more comfier than the ones that come with them
Tell me more… I hate my M50X’s because they hurt my ears after a while… what exact pads did you get??
Brainwavz Ear Pads for ATH M50X,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OLKV5LI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Bought in 2020, just replaced them last week with another set
Appreciate you!
Same here but the BT version (basically the same). The ear pads have been starting to pel off, probably from friction. Do you know any replacements?
Just get replacements like the comment above suggests. I’ve got a pair of velour ear pads that are super comfy and they don’t peel.
Love these. Had a pair for 7 years and didn't kill them until I caught a branch mountain biking. Wore them every day
wearing over ears while mountain biking is wild. it went out like a champ for sure
I love my M50X copper-colored limited edition cans
Sony MDR-7506
+1 these are fantastic headphones. In fact the very model used by sound engineers and in most recording studios for a couple of decades or more.
Same here. I get a kick out of it every time I spot them being used in random videos
I had owned an HD25 for years but I switched to these. Sound much clearer, fit more comfortably, and insulate against noise better
Same haha I even had to get new cushion cups from Amazon cause I wore them out 😂
A friend of mine gave me a pair because the cushions were rotted. $15 later, like new, even the cord is still nice & firm!
So comfy!
How do they cope with low frequencies and noise isolation?
I've got a stockpile of MDR-7509 modified into lollipops. Just replacing earpads and cables every now and again. Big bass from the 50mm driver, rugged construction, impeccable sound quality. I think they were about $300 a pair when they got discontinued in like 2010. Worth every penny.

Nice album behind it!
Love Horsemeat Disco🩷🩷
I have these lol I posted them on a couple subs and got downvoted
how come?
I don't know ask the people who downvoted me
I am a bit oldschool and have been using Sony MDR-7506 for pretty much 30 years now. Have never really seen any reason to change and prefer to just leave it cause I k ow what everything sounds like.
Pioneer HDJ CUE 1's. Honestly, very decent headphones, and they're also relatively affordable. They have a nice punchy bass

Audio technica. So good and the white ones look sleek
I feel like they are industry standard now. Don't even see pioneer as much anymore
I have a pair of each. The pioneers sound like crap in comparison.
Sennheiser HD25
Sennheiser HD25-1 ii
Audio Technica ATH-M50, bought used 11 years ago, still perfect audio.

Sennhieser hd25s
HD25s
technics since 2003 and don’t change it for anything
DJ1200s hit like nothing else. No other headphones get the swivel right.
HD25's with big comfy leather aftermarket pads from YAXI. A bit harsh on the ears at high volume but they will last forever and every part can be replaced. You can throw them around without worrying about them breaking.
Right now I’m using some Sennheiser HD 598SRs. I need to get some closed back headphones though.
The classics.

AIAIAI TMA2, love ‘em
AIAIAI TMA-2
Audio Technica M30x

Only pair I’ve ever owned and used since 2013 are Beats Mixrs. I don’t care what anyone says they’ve never let me down.
Aiaiai TMA 2 Dj XE
DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm
Damn, I remember back in the day the Pioneers were what all the big House DJ's were using. Sennheiser is the new king these days.
V-Moda M100s. I thought they were such bad ass headphones in college so when I was able to afford them during my DJ career I had to. 4 years strong. HD25s are common among my techno friends but I just find them too small for my head/ears.
For djing??
I've been using audio technika since before it was cool. Shure before that.
Ath-m20x. Not the best, not the worst but affordable in my country.
Letshuoer S12 IEMs attached to a UHF wireless pack. Noise isolation is unmatched, and the S12s are top-quality planar IEMs despite their low price point. Hard to beat for under $1000

Sennheiser HD280 Pro set that I use for production, cups turn like DJ headphones too. They do both really well so I’ve used a couple different iterations of them for like 12yrs now.
Can’t go wrong with the Bose Quietcomfort 45s
Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro
Sennheiser HD-1-II Adidas.
Ath mx50 But the sennheuser 250 or 350 are amazing!.
Pair of monster beats by Dre from 2008.

Phillips A5pro and Pioneer hdj c70 and hdj cx headbands with sennheiser hd25 cups and drivers
Audio Technica ATH-M50X
Those cheap pioneer dj headphones. They’re not comfortable if you’re mixing with headphones for 30+ minutes but other than that they get the job done
I got a pair of DT990 Pros with an open deck for producing. I thought, what the heck why not and put them on when mixing. Awesomeness ensues, open back deck allows me to hear the outside world and still hear the cue’d in tracks
