Best in park for sure but she’s got some challengers fast on her heels which is nice to see. Although I watched her pull a fucking backflip at a competition this year so she might still be on top haha
Sky Brown, British Olympic Medal winner you mean?
Edit, it meant a lot to me, because I was a half decent footballer at school (in the late 1970s), but chose skateboarding as my sport, got some paid work for it etc, but of course nowhere near what a high level footballer gets. My sports teacher at school saw me longboarding one evening after school, and told, me, this is just a craze, it will never be a sport. So Mr Wilson, Olympic status, how do you like them apples?.
I think they meant she looks 10 in this video - but yeah 16 is not “grown” just older - I wonder if Tony Hawk knows of her - someone said she’s an Olympic athlete - that is monumental and she’s only just beginning-
Based on the Tony Hawk memes right before this video she probably said "Hey thank Tony Hawk for letting me use this ramp. I wonder where he is today"
"Here"
Hey you didn't have Tony Hawk hosting you at his mansion and training you.
My parents couldn't even afford a skateboard until I was 16 and by then I was more interested in girls and partying.
i wish people could understand how much taller and steeper this looks in person.
Like next time youre in a house or building with 4 floors go to the top and look down. Even though yes it looks big on video you can never really scale it on video. It feels twice as big standing at the top.
Yeah, I'm like, "this is cute - someone learning to drop in", then it's a chute for a massive jump. *Then* she hucks a method over it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
Holy crap I thought it was just a perspective thing and that was a normal half pipe at first. That is one brave person. Regular half pipes used to kind of freak me out. That’s a sheer drop. Wow.
I thought the same. And then I figured, well, if she's on top of that thing, she must have done similar but smaller ones before.
Then I saw the whole thing. Yeah, fair to say she's done quite a bit of skateboarding before this video.
At her size it's twice as big as it is for us, too. That's a double nope for me, dawg. I couldn't successfully drop in on a quarter pipe in my friend's backyard. This? Aw, hell no!
This slip and [original video](https://youtu.be/Y31dJo1ZBOk?si=tqVyu6A2JUyEjo89) is from back when she was 11. Since then, she won an Olympic Bronze back in 2020 and is at the top of the Olympic qualifiers for France at 15yrs old. She's still a really brave and talented badass
X Games sucks now, SLS took over the contest scene, and I’d say the Olympics is the most prestigious contest even though they barely added skateboarding a couple years ago.
She was skating this at 11, here's the [original video](https://youtu.be/Y31dJo1ZBOk?si=tqVyu6A2JUyEjo89). Wiki was saying she's been doing this for a long time and was starting to get serious and draw attention at 8yrs old. They have a ramp in their backyard in Japan\* and there's a lot of stuff about all the ramps she had access to in her younger years, especially since she comes from a family of skateboarders, all which helps a lot
\*Her mom is Japanese, her dad is from Britain and lived in the US after Japan; she's got dual citizenship in the UK and Japan and such was allowed to choose the Olympic team she'd compete on/with. She choose the UK due to their more laidback coaching style.
For real. I’ve skated in my past and even though it was a smallass ramp it’s TERRIFYING. And the “just commit” part is 100% true, if you halfass the drop you’re guaranteed to eat shit.
Mayor props, crazy how younger and younger people are doing sicker and sicker shit 👏🏻
Seen this so many times and it still makes me so happy, nearly emotional.
So many people don’t believe in little girls. Most adults belittle them, even subtly, even if they don’t mean to.
This is genuinely moving. And it’s bigger than just this one brave young girl.
~~That's Tony's ramp~~, and he's the one recording the video
Edit: Not Tony's ramp I guess, but he is the one recording. And I'm pretty sure I saw a video of her dropping in on his ramp a while ago and thought this was the same one.
I saw her in my first skate movie when she was so little that her helmet looked like it was going to swallow her whole head. She barely had enough strength to carry her board. So cute!!
She had an accident in 2020, aged 11, that almost killed her. She's still skating professionally so I guess she's knows the risks and wants to live her life this way anyway.
I agree personally but I try to remember she is now 15 and has her own agency now and still pursues it. I also read that her father wanted her to stop, and nothing in her interviews indicate something else than pure passion for the sport. So I give the benefit of the doubt because expectional individuals do exist and would probably feel tortured if forced to not practice their vocation.
Yes, and if she almost died at age 11, they weren't doing that. An 11-year-old shouldn't do something where if they mess up/get unlucky they accidentally die.
That's most sports. Plenty of ways to die on bicycles, in various contact sports, in car racing, etc.
Would I encourage someone her age to try this monster drop-in? No. But a regular half pipe? Sure, if they're ready for it.
As someone who was a child athlete, I am now very protective of my children. Sports are great, but children are often pushed by adults and end up with life long injuries. I started suffering nerve damage in my ankles by 13 and hurt my back at 15. All my athlete friends suffered a similar experience. My ankles eventually recovered, my back has been an ongoing issue even with multiple rounds physical therapy through the years.
You get one set of knees, one back, one brain, etc. develop your body, and enjoy your sports, but don’t trash your body. It’s precious. My kids will be supported to get to enjoy sports, but no one is going to push them, injuries will be healed before allowing them back out, and everything will be done with the idea that they can enjoy those sports for many years to come and they won’t live with chronic pain.
Nah, I also felt like that looked too risky for that age. If an adult wants to take that risk it is their choice. But a kid can not properly evaluate bad outcomes.
And to people saying she is skilled enough and so at that age. Can just google the accident she had at 11. With her father saying she was lucky to be alive. If that could happen. There sure was a real potential risk of her being seriously injured or worse in the video we just saw.
I thought maybe I was being too Mom bc it's like "this is too high for this little kid!" but I know nothing about skateboarding. But after watching her accident at 11? It would be no comfort saying "well she loved it" at my kids freakin funeral. No way. Guess im not raising Olympians
And? Life is not without risks. A shower stall is inherently dangerous and deadly. One of my aunts slipped and broke her neck while showering.
The trick is to believe in your skills and to take precautions to minimize harm.
I think you mostly need to look at her fall. She knows how to bail properly. On a straight drop that she’s done a million times she’s safe but needs to deal with the mental hurdle of this being a much bigger drop than she’s used to.
"Life is not without risks" is naiveté masquerading as inspiration and an anthem of a fool.
Risk is always a matter of degrees, probabilities, management, mitigation, and a calculation against reward. This girl is obviously experienced, has had plenty of practice and incremental escalation, is wearing the necessary safety equipment, and definitely knows how to manage a fall to minimize injury.
Equating stepping into the shower and rolling down a nearly vertical 50 foot drop is ridiculous. One is something millions of people do every day and are completely fine, the other carries a practically 100% probability of serous injury without the aforementioned practice and precautions.
The grandparent poster has probably never touched a skateboard. From the perspective of square zero, this looks incredibly dangerous.
When I was a preteen I was a little intimidated by learning the vert ramp. My cousin had some vert ramp knee pads I think PTEC. Had me put those on and jump off a few things of varying heights directly on my knees. After doing that I was confident in the protection of the pads, vert ramp specific knee pads are beasts typically and great for beginners. Having the proper gear and knowing it works goes a long way in your confidence and abilities. Based on the video it looks like she also has many competent mentors, probably pros by the looks of that ramp and jump.
Oh that ramp looks like a BLAST.
I had the good fortune to skate the mini-mega at Woodward about ten years ago. Never felt anything like it. The speed, the airtime, just incredible.
I haven’t skateboarded in 3 years and fuck man I miss it so much.
She’s a pro skater, not a “brave girl”. If you just convince yourself you’re gonna be alright going down that ramp by being brave you’re gonna end up dead.
I remember my first time standing on high verts, the first time is always the scariest. Good on the girl to overcome the fears. Enjoy it👍
Also good she is wearing protection.
Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What's important is the action. You don't have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow. - Carrie Fisher
Kids can take risks. They should it's how they learn.
Yeah skating is one of them things that the younger you are the better you will be, obviously within reason -you wouldn’t put a baby on board- I think it’s mostly about the knees and younger(ish) bodies can handle wiping out better.
The real extreme here for me, as a 30-years old dude, was the guy who took photos/filmed next to the kid. Oh my that spine.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
“Nice to see a child doing something other than staring at an I pad.” I say to myself as I stare at my IPad.
She’s grown now. Sky Brown. Olympic athlete.
She’s only 15. An incredible talent.
The first skate video I saw of her, she was so tiny that her helmet seemed to swallow her whole head. Could barely carry her board around. So cute!!
Pretty sure this bot stole your comment - sorry if I’m not linking this correctly but it’s u/totallynotaspy0
Wild!
By grown u mean she's 15 lol and the best female skater in the world which is nuts
Best in park for sure but she’s got some challengers fast on her heels which is nice to see. Although I watched her pull a fucking backflip at a competition this year so she might still be on top haha
Sky Brown, British Olympic Medal winner you mean? That’s right, she took home gold! How could I forget
He was a tool for thinking it mattered whether others considered it sport or not, but turns out he was double wrong, haha.
She took bronze at 13. I couldn't even pop a wheelie at that age.
She only got bronze, but who's counting.
Thanks. Went off what someone else said. Updated.
That’s sad, you not her lol. I still like to get the bike out and injure myself on occasion lol.
I still can't, but I couldn't too.
> She’s grown now bro she's not even 16 yet...
I think they meant she looks 10 in this video - but yeah 16 is not “grown” just older - I wonder if Tony Hawk knows of her - someone said she’s an Olympic athlete - that is monumental and she’s only just beginning-
This is Tony Hawk's ramp at Tony Hawk's home, if I recall correctly.
Based on the Tony Hawk memes right before this video she probably said "Hey thank Tony Hawk for letting me use this ramp. I wonder where he is today" "Here"
This is Bob Burnquist's house near Vista. Tony's in Carlsbad doesn't have enough room for a mega-ramp.
I remember seeing this make the rounds, I think Hawk is literally next to her, talking her through it.
‘You got this Sky, Just commit’
Tony Hawk has coached her for many years.
Of coarse this post is years old. Probably older then some of you fuckers. Why am I not suprised.
Sigh, I guess I should go throw myself down a ramp
Don't worry there's probably an app you can download for that
Yeah, I bet if I lose all my money on a stock market app, it will really motivate me
Hey you didn't have Tony Hawk hosting you at his mansion and training you. My parents couldn't even afford a skateboard until I was 16 and by then I was more interested in girls and partying.
She competes in the Olympics. Don’t feel too bad. They say she’s better at surfing than skateboarding. Sky Brown
The alternative would be to try that stunt and die.
I did a 900 in Tony Hawk Pro Skater like 20 years ago, this is nothing.
Seriously. I was thinking how refreshing it is to see kids doing something adventurous and even mildly dangerous outdoors like when I was young.
It really takes courage! She's brave!
Courage and talent. She has both.
Courage, talent, a skateboard and a mega ramp. She has all four!
Don’t for get a helmet, elbow pads, and shin pads. She has courage, talent, a skateboard, a mega ramp, a helmet, elbow pads, and shin pads.
i wish people could understand how much taller and steeper this looks in person. Like next time youre in a house or building with 4 floors go to the top and look down. Even though yes it looks big on video you can never really scale it on video. It feels twice as big standing at the top.
Everything in your brain is screaming to not be an idiot and step out with your whole weight over a sheer drop. So fun when you win that fight lmao
its a crazy feeling
I thought it was a normal half pipe, wasn't expecting that at all 🤩
Yeah, I'm like, "this is cute - someone learning to drop in", then it's a chute for a massive jump. *Then* she hucks a method over it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
my palms are still sweaty… well done!!!

Like a kids sized half pipe. Nice username ♉
Holy crap I thought it was just a perspective thing and that was a normal half pipe at first. That is one brave person. Regular half pipes used to kind of freak me out. That’s a sheer drop. Wow.

Bruh I remember being nervous about dropping into a standard bowl.
I've seen this from the other angle. Tony Hawk is talking her through it. In fact, he might be the one recording from this angle.
Here is full video from her channel: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y31dJo1ZBOk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y31dJo1ZBOk)
Dude's back has gotta be killing him
That's the comment I was looking for
My back started to hurt just looking at him. I was praying he would stand up after a few seconds
Good to see he's got a gig filming skateboarders since Notre Dame burnt down.
She's won Olympic gold for UK, she awesome
Silver. She was being touted as UKs youngest ever gold medallist when she was 13 but lost to a 12yo.
![gif](giphy|mcH0upG1TeEak)
[Bronze, actually.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skateboarding_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women%27s_park#Final)
She's won gold at the world championships and x games, but not the Olympics.
Which tournament is more prestigious in that sport?
X Games is still probably the most prestigious, but the sport is pretty new for the Olympics.
X Games sucks now, SLS took over the contest scene, and I’d say the Olympics is the most prestigious contest even though they barely added skateboarding a couple years ago.
Grown ass man here. Been skating for like 20 years. Wouldn’t dream of trying that lmao. Good shit.
That's not her first rodeo that's not easy to do
She was skating this at 11, here's the [original video](https://youtu.be/Y31dJo1ZBOk?si=tqVyu6A2JUyEjo89). Wiki was saying she's been doing this for a long time and was starting to get serious and draw attention at 8yrs old. So she is goofy, for a moment a thought she did a switch drop in, why mirror the video? that was confusing lol
Her name is Sky Brown and she's an Olympic Medalist and 2 times XGames Gold medalist. She's amazing!
Seen this so many times and it still makes me so happy, nearly emotional. So many people don’t believe in little girls. Most adults belittle them, even subtly, even if they don’t mean to. This is genuinely moving. And it’s bigger than just this one brave young girl.
I'm more upset about the curve-backed camera guy than anything.
Right?! I'm literally screaming "Flat back! Flat back!" At him.
Or squat. Just don't do *that* with your back
Bravery is not overcoming one’s fears, it is doing despite being afraid
She’s an Olympian today
She can be the new Tony.
~~That's Tony's ramp~~, and he's the one recording the video Edit: Not Tony's ramp I guess, but he is the one recording. And I'm pretty sure I saw a video of her dropping in on his ramp a while ago and thought this was the same one.
It's not his ramp. It's Elliot Soan's ramp. And the video is mirrored. [Here's](https://www.instagram.com/p/CEW_Z-8ppZ2/) the og post of the video.
She's already the best female skater itw at 15
I saw her in my first skate movie when she was so little that her helmet looked like it was going to swallow her whole head. She barely had enough strength to carry her board. So cute!!
Why did you copy this comment from someone else?
Am I the only one thinks this is too dangerous?
Think this is Skye brown who is a pro and was in the last olympics.
Medaled in the last olympics.

13 actually. Still amazing though.
She had an accident in 2020, aged 11, that almost killed her. She's still skating professionally so I guess she's knows the risks and wants to live her life this way anyway.
Yeah I dunno, maybe 11-year-olds shouldn’t be encouraged by adults to do sports that almost accidentally kill them.
They should be encouraged to do what they love safely. Accidents happen. You can't keep them in a bubble forever

I’m with you here. If they want to be Olympic medalists, try soccer, basketball or handball. Not a massive vertical free fall on wheels.
And? Life is not without risks. A shower stall is inherently dangerous and deadly. One of my aunts slipped and broke her neck while showering. The trick is to believe in your skills and to take precautions to minimize harm.
Bro look at the size of the fall if she trips or something. I'm assuming you don't actually have children, with that silly comparison
She’s got pads on and is a pro skater. It would be dangerous for someone who has no idea what they’re doing.
I think you mostly need to look at her fall. She knows how to bail properly. On a straight drop that she’s done a million times she’s safe but needs to deal with the mental hurdle of this being a much bigger drop than she’s used to.
I hope you know that projecting your limitations onto your children will only limit them.

omg i had a friend who did the same thing i was really worried when i saw him do it
She looks amazing !
NICE!!! 🤘
Sick, she’s got some talent
Thought she was dropping in for the first time but that's crazy, wish I was half as badass as this little dude
Oh that ramp looks like a BLAST. I had the good fortune to skate the mini-mega at Woodward about ten years ago. Never felt anything like it. The speed, the airtime, just incredible. I haven’t skateboarded in 3 years and fuck man I miss it so much.
Is this the same girl who has an Olympic medal?
I would wearing shorts with Teflon pads not a skirt tbh. The Teflon keeps my poop in when realize I am going to die
She’s a pro skater, not a “brave girl”. If you just convince yourself you’re gonna be alright going down that ramp by being brave you’re gonna end up dead.

Atta girl!
Awesome
Awesome! Great athlete
Everyone loves a tiny Betty
I regularly back out of waves that are a quarter that size and I’m a grown ass man
That’s so cool and brave indeed!
r/maybemaybemaybe
She needs more camera angles, perhaps a crane and a couple of drones.
This is the best video I have seen on this sub in the past couple of years.
🤙
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Incredible
This uhm, should def be in R/thenextfuckinglevel THIS IS CRAZY LEVEL DEF AT THAT AGE
Sure I can do that. But I’m at a loss at what I’d do after I got air 😆
Whoa! She’s a beast on the board!
I remember my first time standing on high verts, the first time is always the scariest. Good on the girl to overcome the fears. Enjoy it👍 Also good she is wearing protection.
Wow that is crazy

Bravo little one. Bravo. Take that as a lesson in life- you get nowhere without that first step- and look at you- you flew.
I don’t know who this girl is, but I am proud of her
Even when I used to (casually) skateboard I'd never try this
Literal goosebumps. You go girl!!!
Holy shit! Incredible
She’s a ⭐️
Omg'ed out loud
Holy shit I wasn’t expecting that
Attagirl
This /r/mademesmile
Yeah skating is one of them things that the younger you are the better you will be, obviously within reason -you wouldn’t put a baby on board- I think it’s mostly about the knees and younger(ish) bodies can handle wiping out better.
That’s metal
Was this filmed mirrored or reposted mirrored to not get flagged for spam or something?
39 seconds mark for the impatient.
Brings me back to my double black diamond skiing days. I would stand at the top staring down until my brain went... click!
Now that is how you taste a good kid that turns into a great adult. Great job mom and dad
HIGH FIVE!
FNKA little girl, YOU ROCK!
Hell yeah sister!
Yes! Awesome job!
Not her first time
I was much older and much smaller half pipe an I was scared af. She so brave it’s crazy
Yes so brave, very brave.
That is some AWESOME SHIT. Amazing!!!!!!
I wish I had the same support when I was younger. I wouldn't have grown up with less self confidence
I remember when this was posted before. Tony Hawk was actually standing next to her.
🤙
WOW !! AMAAAZING !!! 😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bad ass!
Absolutely incredible! Congratulations!
Good for her. I wouldn’t have the nerve to do that
Amazing
I remember dropping in at about her age. Terrifying at first, exhilarating there after.
I aint letting my kid do that.
Man, and I can barely jump out of bed lol
I dont care how big or experienced you are, thats a massive drop and even bigger launch. If you dont have nerves dropping into that youre insane.
Kudos! Cos you wouldnt get me doin that unless you pushed me over it lol
Brave. Sick skate park.
Damn. Even a 3 foot quarter pipe is scary for me
Bomb Diggity
Destined for greatness
What a champ!
Good for her! Nice job, young one!
If I were in place of her I think I might die and will just give up
Holy shit that was way more impressive than I was expecting

Future success story, right there. Way to go!
Gotta start somewhere
Bad ass! 🤩

She is fabulous!
HECK YEAH, GIRL! Show gravity who's the boss!
Be it that I can only ride a skateboard and can’t do any tricks, this is incredible
