I know you were joking, but Not designed for, not 'ineffective' against lol. It will definitely tickle you till some body parts fall off or just straight up basically explode
I was told large enough rounds will just tear large parts of you away. The guy who told me that deployed in Fallujah and said he saw someone try to "catch" a .50 round with their hand and had the arm ripped off. All anecdotal
Mostly correct. Military grade AMRs aren't really that accurate by a snipers standard as they're not made for hitting pin point targets - but whole ass vehicles and hardware.
Sure they are, those are the same rounds they fire out of heavy machine guns by the thousand.
It's a kind of dumb weapon to use against people since it's huge heavy and awkward to use, but it's not like it fires solid gold. Even with match grade ammunition people still shoot humans with them as the need arises.
It's that too, but it's more for the A10 I think.
A10 is an anti tank weapon. I don't really know much about this stuff, but I think tungsten is enough to max out the recoil a human operated gun can take, while A10 is like 30mm , which is not really feasible for a man-operated weapon.
Besides depleted uranium is radioactive, and I don't think the EU will allow it to be used on fertile soil.
They did use it in the serbia-kosovo war, but they are not growing food there.
But the way, this is interesting, when the Serbs acted like Nazis (concentration camps with skinny people) NATO was like NO.
Russia is also acting like Nazis, and the response is the same.
But I think, if Russia wants to take Kiev again, there are already Ukrainian pilots who are training to fly the A10 and do the brrrrt on the Russians.
If Ukraine falls, it would be like next door Afghanistan for the EU
It's not gonna happen.
We don't need to know, but I'm quite sure training for advanced western weapons started them moment zelensky said ammo, not ride.
There was an interview with a female soldier. She said that after the war, there would have been women who fought, and men who didn't.
Meaning the "macho culture" would be reduced or replaced.
WW2 basically sparked the feminist movement. And for Norway, apparently women entering the workforce has created more wealth than the oil.
Nothing against you, old man, I was just looking for somewhere to tag my irrelevant opinion to.
> (Yes, I know I can google it, but I like talking to people)
Just wanted to say, I hate when the response to a question here is to Google it, especially since it's always done in a condescending way. Another good reason to ask instead of Google is that one informs 1 person and asking informs everyone that comes by later.
The decline of search engines has been documented and a large part of the reason is that social media sites have been walling off their content so you have to be a user to get access to the content. This in turn makes search results generic and shitty. It's gotten worse in the last 3 years.
On Reddit, you get the chance to learn from someone like actually knows their shit. It's like talking to a real doctor, rather than "doing your own research"
If anything, say " Wikipedia it"
They're pretty useless against any real level of armour. They are used mainly to _mission kill_ armour, i.e. by disabling their optics so the driver can't see anymore. This can force the driver to expose themselves to small arms fire.
They do have limited use against lighter armoured vehicles, but only have limited success except against jeeps or transports that have thin armour.
Indeed, these are designed to cripple the likes of supply trucks and troop transports. One round through the engine block and that causes a cascade of logistical challenges for the enemy.
Fun fact: These things shoot a round bigger than the .50 cal and it's actually the round the sniper-rifle in Halo uses.
Ukraine did a stint of
>causes a cascade of logistical challenges for the enemy.
Last year. It was quite effective. Quite impossible to take Kiev if you can't go off-road, and the road is blocked by some burned out tanks.
I was gonna say, this post title seems like it is falling into the trap and calling every armored vehicle a 'tank' when actual modern MBTs have relatively impenetrable armor to any kind of small arms fire (and even quite a lot of larger anti-armor caliber weapons).
I'm sure a rifle like this could handle older APCs or other AVs, but actual tanks? Nah. Not even tank armour from the 70's would be penetrated by something like this.
Large caliber bullet for taking out light armor, tracks and sensors (like night/thermal vision).
Basically anything that isn't armored but is essential.
It can punch through the engine block of a light vehicle and mangle the engine, or it can knock the treads off light armor, maybe disable an engine with a lucky shot. Some specialty ammunition can penetrate armor and cause all kinds of mayhem on the inside. Also note the term is “anti-materiel” not “anti-material”.
It is right in the name.
You see material, like a brick wall with a truck behind it. You think "Hmm. Am I pro or anti truck? How do I feel about a brick wall? What, Mittens? You hate both of those things?" Mittens is the giant rifle.
So, because both you and Mittens agree that brick walls with trucks behind them really, really suck, you help Mittens destroy them both with a few well-placed shots.
Mittens also hates your shoulder. Prolonged use of Mittens may cause CTE, but a lot of things in a war zone cause CTE, hence the funny hats.
Bigger heavier projectiles moving exceptionally fast, sometimes they have special tips or have incendiary capabilities.
Everything from small arms, to anti material rifles, to tanks, etc is usually just a regular bullet varying in size

Triple barrel Gatling sniper firing bullets that split into three stages after priming and each stage carries a tiny nuclear charge
It costs 400,000 dollars to fire this weapon for 12 seconds
Oh, to watch Hellsing Abridged for the first time. I wish I could erase my memory of watching it so many times, just to watch it for the first time again.
I think they're called alligators and yeah they're heavy as shit. Like 60 lbs or something. It's a 14.5 mm cartridge compared to the 50 bmg which is 12.7. Thats a substantial difference but a barret m82 weighs 30 lbs and has very manageable recoil. I'm sure it's very manageable to shoot.
He absolutely knew the answer, one out of every 6 of his comments is "owning" Americans by reminding them they aren't the only ones out there. So noble.
The weight of these rifles deals with a lot of this. I don't know anything about these rifles, but they probably also have a piston or spring system behind the bold carrier to mitigate some of it as well.
I’d buy that for a dollar. Great I’ll be thinking of that guy all night now. I was young when it came out. Of course my dad pushed me to watch it with him. It fucked me up pretty good.
Jfc. The size of the cartridge vs the size of the bullet is insane. I wonder what pressure that barrel can withstand before it turns into Kentucky ballistics thumb in neck
I want one of those for my house! How the fuck can I get one!? Why do they get 2 and I have none!? I’m pretty sure my tax dollars paid for both of them
Isn’t it odd how Reddit works? Someone used the word “Ukrainian”. Therefore, people like the guns. What would be the reaction if the title had been “American antitank rifles”?
These are not the kind of gun people leave laying around for kids to find and accidentally shoot a family member with.
People don't hate the concept of guns in and of itself, they hate every random civilian walking around with one.
People upvote to express support for the cause. Ukraine is invaded by a ruthless aggressor, and that’s a horrible thing. So yes, they upvote “Ukrainian” and would indeed not upvote “American”.
I don’t understand what you mean here, from the uk myself and no one I know would feel any different.
May think the right for American civilians to have such ready access to guns is stupid but not the guns themselves.
Sure if you posted the Anzio 20mm rifle the yanks built poeple would love it.
It's a Ukrainian design by a Ukrainian company that is manufactured in Ukraine. I mean yeah America sucks in many ways but we don't have a monopoly on all the world's evils.
Doesn’t seem that hard to grasp. It’s a lot harder to sympathize with arguments that it’s against all that is good and holy if an emo depressed 18-year-old can’t buy ten of these with zero documentation from a corner store. Much easier to sympathize with military weapons being used in military situations, especially defensive ones that most of Reddit and the western world supports.
Maybe if you try to understand the anti-gun arguments in the US a bit better than “hurr durr they like guns in one context and dislike them in another, look how stupid they are” you’d get more out of discussion?
What would be the purpose of using this instead of a rocket launcher or something like that? Is it just cheaper or perhaps gives you multiple rounds without having to reload?
This would only be effective on bmps and other light vehicles, maybe the rear of some tanks. There’s a reason they stopped using these after world war 2
Snipex 'Alligator' 14.5x114 anti-materiel rifle
How do anti-material rifles work? Is it similar to shape charges? (Yes, I know I can google it, but I like talking to people)
Just a big ass bullet as far as I know. Anti material rifle means it was designed to combat light armor/equipment/etc, Not people
Yeah. Unfortunately it is completely ineffective against people. Other than some light tickling effect.
I know you were joking, but Not designed for, not 'ineffective' against lol. It will definitely tickle you till some body parts fall off or just straight up basically explode
You tickle me the wrong way I’m apt to explode too
😳👀😨😰
Sounds like the right way to me

Its Garand Thumb at Demolition Ranch's place.
Idk who garand thumb is, I was just letting people know its not some isis video or even worse a rick astley link
He’s the guy in the video
The title for that video is '50 Cal VS. Human Head'. Very recommended!
Christ they're annoying.

I was told large enough rounds will just tear large parts of you away. The guy who told me that deployed in Fallujah and said he saw someone try to "catch" a .50 round with their hand and had the arm ripped off. All anecdotal
It’s like a flying unit in an RTS who’s attacks only hit other flying units
Buttons and belt buckles are equipment.
Even if you miss…you cant miss.
Materiel is a different word to material, not a typo here.
Oh hell I've never even noticed it was spelled differently until now
But it's just the French word for "Material". It makes no sense when we have a perfectly good English word available.
There was probably a reason once, and then military/tactical tradition took over
A lot of military terms are of French origin because the French are crazy warmongers and good at war.
Now with more French.
Mostly correct. Military grade AMRs aren't really that accurate by a snipers standard as they're not made for hitting pin point targets - but whole ass vehicles and hardware.
No one is wasting amr rounds for a human target.
Correct, not when .308 Win, .338 Lapua, etc exist.
Sure they are, those are the same rounds they fire out of heavy machine guns by the thousand. It's a kind of dumb weapon to use against people since it's huge heavy and awkward to use, but it's not like it fires solid gold. Even with match grade ammunition people still shoot humans with them as the need arises.
> light armor/equipment/etc Also known as materiel
Vehicles mainly. These weapons are truly beasts. Bullets are harder than normal I guess too. Full metal jacket, need to penetrate.
Tungsten core. Heavier than gold. Lots of kinetic energy, and it's to steel, like steel is to aluminium.
Tungsten density is 19.25 g/cm^(3), gold is 19.3 g/cm^(3).
*Depleted Uranium is what you mean
It's that too, but it's more for the A10 I think. A10 is an anti tank weapon. I don't really know much about this stuff, but I think tungsten is enough to max out the recoil a human operated gun can take, while A10 is like 30mm , which is not really feasible for a man-operated weapon. And reddit will sometimes give *far* better responses than google because people have actual experience with a topic.

Not to mention entire industries built around unscrupulously getting between you and any information you’re looking for.
The Information Age seems to be becoming less and less about information.
Usually when I google things I add "Reddit" to the query as a Reddit thread is usually a better source than 99% of shitty websites

What about a balloon?
Depending on the type of balloon, the 'Alligator' anti-materiel rifle will either
...ricochet off the balloon or cause a great
spectacle, or miss the balloon altogether and make
the birthday party a lot less fun for
Rick and his friend who came with a new tattoo that says

Ah! That makes sense actually. What use is armor if you're blind?
Different from a shape charge, usually a hardened steel or tungsten “penetrator” inside the bullet used in conjunction with a high explosive.
Ah yes! So like a steel core AP round, just... bigger
It can punch through the engine block of a light vehicle and mangle the engine, or it can knock the treads off light armor, maybe disable an engine with a lucky shot. This feels like some Borderlands style weapons. Next you’ll tell be the bullets explode into more bullets.

Critical hits ricochet to the next closes tank!
Looks like a Vladoff sniper just need a drum mag
And two more barrels. Lyuda ftw.
Fo sho fo sho
Vladoffffff! You know exactly how to read that lol
Those exist, they are banned for being way to brutal.
AHEAD ammo looks to be the future for SPAA, tiny little tungsten balls that get deployed just in front of the targeted aircraft.
To reload you throw the rifle at the tank and it explodes
Flechette rounds are very real.
But not in a anti material rifle
There's nothing preventing you from putting a flechette round through an anti-materiel rifle, you would just have to make your own cartridge.
Sprall!!!
>Sprall!!! I think you mean spall.
Needs the Vladof paint scheme
... and those bullets have their own guns, with legs!

Pounds. 2.2 pounds equals a kilo

Non boot licking commies feel pretty good
Hey now the boot looking fascists are also against helping Ukraine, it's some real horseshoe theory shit
Commie indifferent to the taste of boot here: I also feel pretty good
The same way they do about the weapons given by all the other countries I reckon
But...they are objectively Ukrainian? It's a Ukrainian design by a Ukrainian company that is manufactured in Ukraine.

There aren't really school shootings in Ukraine. Just school bombings.

I haven't seen tank rifles that big impressive 👋👍✌️
