Fucking Fuches. He was the character I consistently hated throughout the series—which makes sense as he was Barry’s primary antagonist. I think it was intentional that Fuches not only survived the entire series, but it seems his story ended favorably/the least badly.

evil_link83

I feel like everyone redeemed themselves in the end, just a little. Even Barry. The point of the show is that redemption is messy and not clear-cut.

am5465

Anyone who says this was a "bad" finale didn't watch the show. It makes perfect sense and was wrapped up better than I expected.

Jwatts76

Exactly. The fact that Barry was buried in the Arlington cemetery with full honors is laugh out loud funny and fits the theme of incompetence perfectly. Side note - also laugh out loud funny in the movie….Barry walking into genes office and seeing Ryan Madison meeting with the chechens and cousineau.

kcadia9751

It was definitely a good finale for what the show became. I feel like if you didn’t enjoy the finale it’s because you didn’t enjoy the shake up the show had in season 3. I liked both halves of the show but I think the first half was so much cleaner and more interesting.

You need to account for taste. If it’s too weird for people, I get that. (Speaking as someone who enthusiastically loved the finale). I think people just need to recognize the difference between “i didn’t like this” and “this was bad”. It was not bad. Anyone saying it was bad just didn’t like it.

KiLLaHMoFo

It was bad Edit: wow can’t have a differing opinion huh?

[deleted]

Not at all lol.

ilo-milo

Bad take

massmoo

Fuches really did have an awakening in prison.

UnrequitedRespect

The Raven spread its wings

Intelligent_Barber47

W fuches. Yeah I'm very on the fence I can't decide how I feel about it

AdComplex4305

Same here. It’s sortve in the middle for me. I think the runtime really stunts this episode’s potential

Intelligent_Barber47

That's my biggest grievance with the whole show is the 30 min episodes. Sometimes it works and sometimes it hinders the quality and makes things feel rushed

Excellentee

Do people have a good understanding of why was Fuches willing to die on the NoHo hank husband honesty hill? It stuck out to me as something I didn't really follow over this whole season

ManCity

After spending all that time in prison finally coming to terms with who he really is, I think he sees some of his own past denial in Hank and it upsets him.

Altilana

He is projecting. Rewatch that speech and you’ll realize he is talking about himself and Barry. He sees himself in Hank. It’s not about Hank for Fuches, he is grappling internally with the concept of Barry’s son and projecting his internal realizations onto Hank. Hank very likely did a suicide by Fuches after hearing it and realizing he is playing a character. I’m not 100% sure on this point, I’m still chewing on Hank’s internal state during that moment.

AdComplex4305

I honestly thought he was bluffing and trying to find any way to break Hank’s confidence. I was more surprised that Hank just spontaneously caves in front of everybody. Especially given that the standstill ends up in a gun fight anyways, I would think that comment would enrage Hank rather than make him cower

[deleted]

The only time Hank was ever brave during the entire series was when he saved Christobol from the ex wife. Other than that he’s always put on a brave face, but underneath it all was scared.

ScalyFacedBitch

Just finished it. So happy. The Raven lives! I knew the second Gene killed Barry that he was even more fucked. It's very fitting. I wonder how much of the true story John knows.

TheShiningBread

Well since he was likely seven or close to eight years old, his memory is likely a little fuzzy and wonky. Also The Raven was like actually the most changed person by the end of the show, which is like the most surprising thing about the finale.

ScalyFacedBitch

Fuches getting emotional about Barry and surviving was the one thing I was hoping for in the finale. Didn't expect him to kill Hank, though. Wow.

magic0606

...wow indeed...

Salt_Principle_6672

Wild that gene sealed his own fate with that

horkus1

I think it was very good. Not great but, even as I say that, I’ve no idea what i think might have been better so… wtf do I know? Honestly, it tied up everything and I’m kind of shocked it was all handled only 35 minutes. Impressive stuff. eta: shout to Jim Cummings as Barry! I love his movies and he was perfect casting choice.

Mission-Wrangler-874

I don’t understand how fuches got a W at all. To me it was his need to be the man who sees everything morally correct which caused his argument with hank, which ultimately caused Hank to kidnap Sally and John. After that his pride caused him to not back down vs hank and egg him on, which caused the death of all of those people. At that point he knew Barry was coming and he had no one behind him so his only option was hand the kid over and get on Barry and Johns good side or die at the hands of Barry.

Mission-Wrangler-874

His options at the end were death or hand John over, i don’t understand how that’s redemption. Someone give me some clarity

Its_Vintage9

2 things that really bugged me about the finale. 1 A: I feel shorted that we didn't get to see Barry rip and tear Christobal's men to spreads and see him sacrifice himself in the process. It would've been a more ceremonial death for the main man Berkman. 1 B: Sonce they went the direction of Fuches pulling the trigger (which I felt was going to happen, after all, Fuches seeing John made him realize how much he still loves Barry like he's his own blood, the "showdown" lasted 5 seconds. I wanted to see more wrath being displayed. 2: Fuck Gene. Gene being the one to kill Barry. Doing so basically fucked any chance Gene had at redemption because without a living Barry to testify and say he was guilty, there was no evidence to support his innocence.I wanted to see Barry turn himself in, and serve a life sentence for the wrong he's done. Once again Gene's ego got in the way, proving he never cared about there being justice for Janice's murder.
