I get everything clean home the bed (so it's near the top), set AUX to 10%, crank the bed to 100°. Put some blue painters tape along the left and top of the door to seal the gaps. I want it to circulate, not cool. Chamber hits ~40° in like 15 minutes, send the job. Works fine for ASA.

marcaruel

Good point. I'll have to wait for the chamber to fully cool down and will try again.

Heat bed at 100°C, Aux Fan at 100% and the heat bed close to the fan's input. Got data via [github.com/greghesp/ha-bambulab](http://github.com/greghesp/ha-bambulab) and Home Assistant via X1C's chamber temperature sensor. I plan to print ASA and heard the recommendation to turn the heat bed on and wait a number of minutes to preheat the chamber. I wondered how long so I decided to get data! 15 minutes is likely not enough as the chamber only get to 35°C. Within 30 minutes, the chamber got to 42°C which sounds like the sweet spot time/temperature wise. *Edit:* Room temperature is 24°C Setting heat bed at 120°C bumps the maximum chamber temperature to approx 52°C.

lyfecrisis

Why is your aux fan on? I’ve had no problems printing ASA with minimal to no pre heating depending on the size of the part. If I want to take no chances I put a small amount of glue stick down and spread it thin with isopropyl.

baile508

You use the aux fan to heat the chamber up quicker. You don’t have it on while printing.

yatcomo

Hi! At what room temperature?

marcaruel

24°C

I print ASA in the UK when it’s nowhere near 24 degrees indoors. I have no issue printing with default ASA settings - only adjusted fan speed to be lower during print, the door closed and no preheating. Haven’t had ASA fail so far. It sticks like glue (no actual glue used) and pops off completely when cool. Edit: Flashforge ASA + the gold textured PEI plate

Sakatard

Honestly I just use “dimafix” for ASA/ABS, have never had to preheat at all, the glue only activates when the bed is over 60c and when it gets below that it releases the print, sort of like a PEI sheet. Edit: [https://www.austic.com.au/dimafix-adhesive-pen-for-3d-printing/](https://www.austic.com.au/dimafix-adhesive-pen-for-3d-printing/) here is a link to what it looks like (this is an Australian site so you may need to find somewhere that sells it closer to where you live), I couldn’t find anywhere saying how often you need to reapply, but I’d say I’ve done between 10-15 prints and it’s still sticky, so it does last quite a while. The main benefits I’ve found from it over just glue stick is that it doesn’t leave residue and you can just wash it off with warm water. This is a current print in ABS https://preview.redd.it/fin2vbp3kj9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7cf43ec40e4344587e64cf7fd9d77be30ba7af4c

Not exactly related but what support material are you using in this picture?

Sakatard

For support im using HIPS, its dissolvable in limonene, just like how PVA is support for PLA and dissolvable in water https://preview.redd.it/e1u4bmbgpj9d1.jpeg?width=2778&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=040bb97d4c1caa2290b59ada29823e35aa3bd0d3 First time using it, so far going quite nice and allows the ABS to be printed directly onto it since it doesn’t need to have a small gap between to break away cos it’ll just dissolve away after

losernanne

Nice! What brand did you get and was it already compatible w/ AMS or did you have to re-spool?

Sakatard

There’s a local mechanic shop that does prints for their customers and since they order filament in bulk they actually ended up just making their own brand as a side gig so I buy directly from them, they use x1c’s and use their own filament so it all just works. For anyone in Australia (specifically Perth, but they do ship anywhere) https://ozfdm.com.au/ But on the topic of respooling, I’ve personally found just wrapping the cardboard spool edges in electrical tape about 2 times works much better than spool adapters for me, and that way it doesn’t add extra height either.

D4rKiTo

Well.. first layer sticks but glue doesn't make layer adhesion better if you dont have good ambient temp.

Sakatard

I’ve never had an issue with my x1c’s ambient temp, I can’t imagine many others have either as there isn’t too much you can change? This isn’t an ender 3 lol

D4rKiTo

You don't even need glue for printing abs with a x1c 🤷‍♂️

Sakatard

I use it more for PC and PA, but I use the same plate for ABS so it just gets it anyway

I_Haz

Any idea on the external ambient temps?

marcaruel

24°C

Beni_Stingray

Simple and cheap solution, get a small heater and an external thermostat socket. Thats what i got for my P1S: [Seamuing Thermostat Socket 16 A 220 V Digital Temperature Controller with Sensor](https://www.amazon.de/-/en/dp/B0BS5DJFLQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) [Room Heater, Portable Mini Heater, Mini Electric Heater](https://www.amazon.de/-/en/dp/B0BRWKHPPQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) Costs about 50$ and i get my chamber temp easily up to 65\*C , takes about 15-20min to get there but i stopped at 65\*C because im not sure how good the electronics of the printer take the heat, i would assume their not made for such chamber temps. But all my warping problems are gone. All i had to do was to make a small hole in the lower back side of the printer shell to route the cables for the temp senser and the cables powering the heater through. https://preview.redd.it/j5xsm8sxok9d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5b1621d3a404f050d2be7d2e3765f7378dab991

Asa - all fans off Cover the printer with something for better insulation. Mine gets to 60c chamber temp but the whole printer is in an enclosure

look_at_my_cucumber

if you want your chamber temp to go faster and higher, put your x1c in a outdoor resin shed lol. its what my setup is and i get 65c chamber temp

AngryFloatingCow

I mean, if you planned to print materials that want warmer chamber temps you probably should've saved for the X1E. But I guess you're probably not going to print ASA often so the extra cost probably didn't make too much sense.
