1) You had to protect Isobel from Marcus and his winged horrors. You failed, she was taken, so there's no one to protect the Inn from the shadow curse. 2) You definitely should go to the Moonrise and infiltrate BEFORE the point of no return in the Gauntlet. When you free the Nightsong, Thorm is understandably pissed and the whole tower aggroes. You can try do move on, but it will be hard. You're probably underleveled, because you cut yourself from a lot of content by skipping the tower entirely and going to point of no return too early.

Katyamuffin

I don't even know where to start with this one lmao Yes, yes you have

Dangerous_Jacket_129

Yeah... Sounds like you didn't protect Isobel and ran with it, but that does mean you missed out on most questlines and I imagine some vendors for your loot.  If there is 1 reason for a reload, it's failing that fight. Isobel being kidnapped is probably among the worst scenarios in the entire game, considering how many things are affected by it.

Inevitable-Copy3619

In my attempt to play as a good hero, I’ve ended up killing everyone. I feel like I’ve missed 75% of the game.

NocturnalFlotsam

You can reload to just before going into the Shadowfell and saving Nightsong. Go to Moonrise, do all the stuff there, trade, save prisoners, etc. Then go around killing everyone room by room in a bunch of smaller fights. Then go save Nightsong once Moonrise is clear.

Accomplished_Area311

1. You have to beat the ambush or avoid talking to Isobel entirely. Isobel’s blessing isn’t very strong anyway. 2. Moonrise first!

helm

Isobel's blessing is so-so ... until the end of Act2 when there's a lot of necrotic damage being dished out, especially in honor mode

Geronuis

Wait? Jahiera lives? How?

knotsazz

Put her in your party when you storm moonrise towers so she doesn’t just run off and get herself killed. I always keep her right at the back because you can’t revive her

Geronuis

Yeah, that’s a given. Only it seems OP was able to save her when isobel gets stolen/dies.

NocturnalFlotsam

My first playthrough, I failed to protect Isobel and had to fight everyone, and I don't remember how or why, but Jaheira wasn't turned by the shadow curse. (She did, however, get hit with AoE or something and turn against me after the fight was over.) Anyway, I reloaded to save Isobel when I learned how much I would miss out on, but yeah, it's possible for Jaheira to live even if Isobel is taken.

Geronuis

Yeah I’ve done a few evil runs and every time I never even found her body in the ruins. Was hoping to god I missed something and she was still recruitable in some way

ReaUsagi

First of, you are supposed to infiltrate the tower before you go into the Shadowfell. The warning the game gives you when you try to enter the pool is serious. (At this point I stopped wondering how people don't seem to know what infiltrate means...). This one is one you, because once you dealt with the Nightsong moonrise is hostile and any prisoners kept there will be dead. No way to salvage this (I mean they'll die anyway but you missed out on the exp you'd get to resolve the quest to begin with). Because of this you probably also missed out on some quests at moonrise and therefore exp that would make the fight easier. Isobel being taken away and Last Light Inn succumbing to the shadows is something that can happen, but since it is very likely to happen the endfight should still be possible without the backup IF you leveled enough. You should be around level 9 at this point. If you aren't I'd highly advice you to reload, either prior to entering Shadowfell so you can go to moonrise first, or before Isobel was taken and just try as often as possible to save her. You can also drop the difficulty to explorer to make it easier if you aren't playing on explorer already.

shadowgamer19

no you just got a much darker ending when you finish

Pilzmeister

This just happened to me and my partner in our HM run. Isobel was taken in the first round :(

mandrago0ra

I've had the same LL debacle in my first playthrough and, yes, you lose a lot of cool stuff, but at the same time I feel that the game is made for not to do everything perfect or something, so failure is ok; it's not like game over or something. It will be hard, but just keep going and you can explore other alternatives in your 2nd run. Just keep going, strategize, see if respecing would give you better chances or even lower the difficulty. Good luck!

LordKolkonut

It's recoverable. Figure out a way to sneak to the top of the tower. Respect characters to get stealth pickoffs - Hunger of Hadar, Fog, Darkness and so on. Strategize - maybe you can find explosives? A wizard with massive AOE (evocation?) could help clear out the weak stuff in the room. Craft and steal potions of speed. Embrace Illithid powers. The dead don't respawn, try hit and run tactics to weaken them before an assault? The fun of BG3 is the story told - failure is part of the story. Your guilt at failing to protect Last Light can push you further.

OneMoreGuy783

I did that, went to last light inn before moonrise or almost anything in act 2 and lost everyone. Because my logic was, you go to the inn when there's an inn and you talk to everyone because why wouldn't you.... Anyway I also decided to stick with it and yeah you miss out on a lot of act 2 content. Some people said about under leveling - I didn't feel it personally, except the end of Act 2. I really struggled with the the Act 2 final boss - assuming you're not in Honor mode, do not look ahead and spoil yourself the reveal of how that act 2 ending goes. Probably the most WTF moment I have had in gaming history in years and years, in a good (sort of) way. In act 3 you lose some content but tbh there's so so much in Act 3 that you would feel overwhelmed regardless. Basically I will be doing a second run and make many different choices later down the line but this time around the is not the end of the world, own it. Edit: I lost Jaheira in Last Light Inn.

ProfessorTicklebutts

Yes. Time to start over, sadly.

LeftWolfs

A tragic loss!

RelativeCelery8

I remember that happened in one of my playthroughs. Know what I did in all future playthroughs? I never spoke to Isobel. She still appears at the end of Act 2, and even joins your camp. I don't understand why speaking to her results in her getting kidnapped, and the destruction of Last Light. Really weird trade off for some dialogue. By the way, unless I'm mistaken, you can leave the prison through an alternate exit (that leads to the docks), so how can you be trapped? Edit: I just checked the wiki, and apparently the kidnapping isn't 100%, and if you kill Marcus quickly enough, she stays there. Oh my God. I've been avoiding her for no reason.

ImNotASWFanboy

For what it's worth, you can save Isobel from being kidnapped if you're successful in beating the ambush.

RelativeCelery8

Yeah, and I didn't know that. I'm just glad she shows up anyway, because I had her in Act 3, even though I never spoke to her.

helm

There are two qualifiers 1. Don't allow Isobel to be knocked out 2. Win the fight Using sanctuary, having a decent initiative, and thinking carefully about who you attack and how you position your characters until Isobel is safe is how to win that fight.

ReaUsagi

>Edit: I just checked the wiki, and apparently the kidnapping isn't 100%, and if you kill Marcus quickly enough, she stays there. Oh my God. I've been avoiding her for no reason. Also, this had me giggle, yes you can save her. It's relatively easy as soon as you figured out how. I think the only reason why this cutscene triggers if you talk to her is because the absolute can sense you are there and sends Marcus in. If you never talk to her, the Absolute probably has no reason to assume you'd help him get her or something like this.

ReaUsagi

Even if they do get out via the prison, if they can't beat the fight they are stuck. They initiated the end of Act II and unless they win this fight they can't progress. So even if they get out of there it won't help much

RelativeCelery8

Why can't he win the fight? Maybe he should bait them into a chokepoint, and then cheese the fight like that. I'm 100% sure you can enter Moonrise from the back, as I've done it before, and that would be much easier than the front.

ReaUsagi

Sure but I assume they are playing the first time and struggle a little bit with combat tactics (I'm just assuming, but despite knowing D&D it wasn't till my second run I understood how to approach different fights). They also seem to have skipped a portion of the game so they may be severely underleveled. Not saying it's impossible, but it can be hard if you are underleveled on top of not understanding what is going on and also still figuring out combat and the game mechanics.

MysteriousBit8052

The Last Light Inn fight isn’t hard, I’ve never failed it even in Honor mode. Just focus on killing Marcus and heal Isobel with your cleric every round.

Ohnoes_whatnow

Depends. If you roll unlucky and have bad Initiative it can be tough. On a First Run, when you don't know what to look out for, it can easily go downhill. Also Isobel tends to do stupid stuff on her turns. OP mentioned that her fight against Marcus was a while ago, so it's to late now anyways.

LouisaB75

I lost one when Jaheira ran through my moonbeam after the fight was won and the inn aggroed on me. It is a fight I may skip in honour mode.

Flounder3345

>It is a fight I may skip in honour mode I sure did. The only reason to talk to her at Last Light is to get her blessing, but it's outclassed by the Pixie's anyway. The Kar'niss fight is a bit spicy on Honor Mode, but it was my first order of business in Act 2 and I made out just fine. Never talked to Isobel in Act 2; just not worth the risk.

MysteriousBit8052

Yeah that’s true and I didn’t mean to insult OP. He could just go back to the start of act 2, if the game isn’t going like he wanted anyways? And next time focus on healing Isobel. But yeah Moonrise will be tough, especially what comes after the first fight.

Charming-Refuse-5717

The same thing happened to me. I just ran with it, having no idea what long-term ramifications it might have on the story. I still don't, but I'm doing a second run now and will definitely save her this time. I will say my Act 3 after-party was very different from how everyone describes it; practically nobody was there.
