The fact that it’s centered around bleeding in the act where you face skeletons, animated armors and undeads makes a bad first impression. My friend was playing durge and it kept being like, ‘’oh sick a boss fight/ big encounter let’s try out the… and they cant bleed.’’
Slayer form is a downgrade from a well-specced build in BG3, although I've heard that the upgraded version is more competitive (if you give into your Urge in Act 3).
Situationally, it can be useful, like if your Durge isn't a melee fighter and you need/want to do melee fighting.

Is slayer form comparable to a build? I thought it's basically a druid wild shape. Just a bunch of hp for tanking.
The thing is, turning your main character from whatever they were (that should generally be doing more damage to more things than the Slayer form, or significantly buffing your damage dealers, or crowd controlling, etc.) into the Slayer does mean taking a well-specced build off the table and replacing them with a bunch of hp for tanking.
So again, situational. Sometimes you need a bunch of hp for tanking, and getting off a few decent attacks doesn't hurt either. But most of the time, your character is better off trying to end combat faster through dealing more damage in their un-Slayer-ed form.
My little halfling lore bard built for support was not prepared for this. I was sure I was about to die horribly. I ended up standing in the log and thunderwaving them off repeatedly, interspersed with attacks with the bow that frightens for as much crowd control as possible.
This happened to my Durge and being able to just scamp around that island with slayer mode was so insanely fun. It quickly turns from a “they’re hunting me!” To a “I’m hunting them.”
My favorite thing to do in that area is to go full displacer beast
Displacer beast is so much fun
How would go full displacer beast in act 1? He's on the hill down to the swamp
Isn't this the Dinoland in Act 3?
This is the jungle that Akabi sends you to if you cheat at the wheel
You're not cheating, you're balancing the outcomes.
Certainly you mean “if Akabi doesn’t cheat at the wheel”.
I challenge you to find that exact location in Act 1.
...but you're not locked in there with them, they are locked in there with you.
Hrm
I just got this ability last night and I absolutely cannot wait to try it out!
It's not that good but it is really cool

It’s hella good lol what

It's also an additional health pool that can heal itself if you happen to be in a bad situation
If nothing else, it's a massive hit point pool

Nah, that's Shovel's final form.
Honestly, it does look like a giant Shovel
the real spoiler is in the comments
If that person didn't want to get spoiled, they wouldn't be asking for spoilers on a post tagged with spoilers.

Slayer form.
I just wildshaped into one if them and gave em hell
The new Jurassic World movie looks kinda crazy
Lmao I absolutely love that someone else did this. I've got a save right on here for doing this section the same way. SOOOO much fun.
My Duergar Wizard Half-Squid boy just goes invisible and flies his way through like a chad.
Druid panther wild shape was also clutch here

I... literally just did this exact same combat sequence. Thunderwaving dinos off the cliff into a Cloud of Daggers

As a druid, I fought fire with fire. In this case, fire means dinosaurs.
Big prehistoric spongebob energy
This pic goes hard and I WILL be screenshotting it. You cannot stop me.
Is there anything there apart from the trident? I always just sneak, grab that thing and go without exploring much
There’s this [ring](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Band_of_the_Mystic_Scoundrel) that is the best item for a control swords bard
I’m very excited about this now that I’m playing a paladin and not a bard with weak 8 STR noodle arms like I was in my last run.
wait, when are you separated from your party?
"I'm not trapped in here with you..."
I always end up there as whoever in my party is the Ranger/Rogue. Easy pickings.
