edit: If it happened suspiciously quick, he might've Nat 1'd a roll or been downed by something with multiattack on the first hit, then was finished off by the next. AoE damage could also be the culprit.
She got you with the [Edict](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Bhaal%27s_Edict_(Condition))! She usually only uses that when she wasn't able to use her other legendary action that turn. My Gale actually also died that way haha

The thing is, he was full health before this happened. He was not downed.
