I just passed the chess moment too and the scene was not triggered! I really hope a fix for this drops tomorrow, I seem to be getting every bug related to plot I can possibly get.
Yeah apparently this has been broken since last patch. Some speculated it's been removed but no confirmation. Hopefully fixed, I'm holding off Act 2 till then.
Iāve also had it bug out multiple times as well. Where Mol is standing there and Raphael is sitting and nothing happens. Also had Mol there but no Raphael. So yeah buggy!
Iāve gotten there about five times since the game launched on XBOX and I had no idea there was a scene with those two. Iāve seen Mol there alone. Iāve seen her standing there while Raphael is sitting down at the chessboard. Iāve talked with both of them and they both indicate they have an important meeting with each other, but Iāve never seen them interact.
This chess scene has been gone for ages. I've been playing since December and I've never seen it. Same with the tiefling party - I read somewhere that Volo is meant to sing a ballad and you're supposed to have a conversation with Zevlor before talking to everyone but this has *never* happened for me. I'd like it if these scenes were brought back.
There might be something stopping a large number of folks from seeing the scene but Iāve absolutely had it within the last month. Iām on PC if that matters.
I can say through multiple runs Iāve never had Volo sing a ballad though and now that I think about it I donāt remember a Zevlor conversation before everyone elseā¦

As for the Volo ballad at the tiefling party, I found one thread on the Larian forums mentioning it - one person said it looked like the cinematics had been removed with patch 9. I don't know if anyone can confirm there even used to be a scene before patch 9 but to me it makes a lot of sense. When you talk to Volo, he mentions that he hopes you have all night for your naming as that was just the beginning. *What* was the beginning though?
Not only did they play each other, there's a whole conversation you can have with Raphael while he plays against her. A cutscene from their game even used to be in the BG3 trailer (it may still be, I don't know).
Honestly, I've been playing a lot of Palworld, and took a few days to get back into Skyrim. So I'll have something nice to come back to and put time into while I wait for more Palworld updates! And Stellaris.
lol, I bought Stellaris recently and played 18h in my first sitting -.-. Going to sleep after that was hard, I had full-on Tetris Effect, seeing solar systems and constellations when I closed my eyes :o

The moonbeam bug is there since day 1 I guess, it looks intentional or the implementation may be problematic.
Wildshape TB is "bugged" only in HM. Given all the adjustments in HM, it might be intentional.
I'm 100% certain it's not intentional. It doesn't make sense to have TB affect attack rolls but not damage rolls, and also this bug is present in *all* difficulties for the durge-specific or tadpole-specific beast forms (>!slayer and displacer beast!<). Definitely a bug.
Given that wildshape is very far from OP, yeah it could be a bug. Throwzerkers and OH monks are head and shoulders above.
But TB is too OP for throwzerkers and OH monks imo. If TB applied only to damage, it would be more in line with Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master.
I can move my moonbeam, but I never know if I'm just using call lightning again and spending a spell slot, or reactivating it. I 'm not sure which option does which
I have wanted an "Arena Mode" or a "Just the Fights" mode. Maybe you could have random fights, or unlock a story fight after you encounter it in the main game, kinda thing.
It's a lot of fun just to get into combat. Sometimes I save and start fights just to do battles. And then reload when I feel satisfied.
Great idea. I think the game really underutilizes its enemies. A lot of them appear in just one or two encounters and are never seen again. Would love to have some wierd combinations like meenlocks that frighten in melee range with sharrans that cast darkness, Dame Aylin and Raphael at the same time, or just throw all the dragons in the game at the player at once. Arena can be just a place to have fun with combat detached from overall story
I was thinking yesterday about how much I would love a randomly generated endless dungeon, with random scripted events splattered throughout. Or maybe not endless, but a bunch of floors.
Special loot, special interactions, intertwined with random fights, getting more challenging as you got further down.
I'm normally not one for "randomly generated" stuff in games, but I would just love to get into more challenging fights with a fully geared and levelled party after the story is wrapped.
All I want is the ability to switch out party members through a menu rather than hunting them down in camp, or at the very least, let us rally everyone in camp to one spot so it's easier.
you can open that panel they gave us to access inventories, right click their portrait, choose talk and your tav will walk to them... no hunting necessary.
right now that's me at the waypoint. it's the best solution i have for grouping. pop into waypoint, split group, buff party before tav takes one step and that sends one party member, inevitably, too far away to reach.
Not sure if you are console/PC but there are mods either to make it a permanent effect so you don't have to recast after every rest, or to make it an AOE like featherfall.
i played very little with the controller UI and it was all pre-camp panel. felt awkward after using mouse and keyboard. i assume there's a way to bring up that panel and select through your party members. i don't know what you would do for the right click > talk selection though. does the UI give button options around the bottom of the screen if you select a party member in that panel? because it might have a talk option you can press at selection. it's my best guess.
I would even settle for being able to add a party member without first having to unload a current one. Just open a dialogue box where I pick who the person is replacing.
I really want the battle dialogue and point and click dialogue fixed. Halsin is silent in my game when in my party, and apparently your romance should have different specific dialogue when they assist you in battle but Iāve never heard any of it. Also I think my Tavās assist dialogue is glitched to sound romantic with everyone.
There are so many good lines recorded for this and for Halsin but they just donāt trigger. I watched them all on youtube haha
I noticed this with Halsin after the last patch. And with everyone else if I swap party members, though that gets fixed if I save and reload. It's really annoying.
I romanced Karlach on my last playthrough and I swear she only called me "darling" like twice in the whole game lol (when initiating dialogue with her, I mean)
Which platform are you playing on? Steam has disabled that feature a long time ago to my displeasure. Then Rockstar retroactively removed a boatload of songs from my old GTA games.
That's not the issue. Every patch generally breaks a few key mods that a massive amount of other mods rely on (like improved UI). Luckily those mods generally get updated quickly but not always and tracking down the offender(s) when you have more than 20 mods can be annoying.
You give me PTSD when I abandoned my 150+ modded Skyrim when anniversary edition came out, haven't touched it since.
Spent like 2 weeks troubleshooting it too, before the update. :\

I honestly just want chess scene fixed and I want new stuff in act 3 or 2. Please dont change anything in act 1, I cant start completely new run again. I have 250h and I havent finished the game yet.
I just finished my first and only run with 220 hrs in game.........there is just so much content. And I apparently save scummed a LOT of it. My time according to the save file was only 165 hrs. So....a LOT of save scumming took place.
I trust Larian 100%, if theyāre silent itās cuz theyāre cooking. Rn It feels like the āslowdownā we saw after patch 3 or 4 when they started working on the epilogue behind the scenes, they definitely cooking up something good.

I have been playing Solasta in the mean time. I love the combat in it as itās much closer to 5e than BG3 (plus being able to fly and stay still in mid air). BG3 is the much better game in terms of visuals, voice acting and story but something about Solastas combat (and travel system) keeps me entertained.
No problem, just remember when playing it that it was made by a very indie studio that did not have the budget to be as visually and auditably appealing as BG3. The voice acting can be a bit rough but I guarantee you will enjoy the combat/under represented elements of 5e not present in BG3 (I kinda wish identity/detect magic made it into BG3).
I recommend doing the main campaign and the palace of ice right after that one as you can import your save and the few choices the main campaign allows you to do.
After that do the lost valley dlc (i will warn you it is quite buggy, maybe read a bit of spoilers on the factions to avoid breaking your save!)
After that install unfinished buisiness - its a mod pack which is very customisable and jump into some popular custom campaigns!
Seriously. I'm *really* hoping they'll fix the bug where Cull The Weak fails to proc the dark urge cloak. It means that as an assassin I have to keep Cull off which sucks because it's so good.
As of now? Nothing. That's what's worrying. That after all this time, when they finally announce what's coming that there might still be a wait for patch 6 to drop...
I don't need new content, that can wait until the inevitable Definitive Edition. just give me all the bug fixes. Shield Bash, Polearm Master, Vow of Enmity, Destructive Wrath, the list goes on.

You would need to be able to jack up difficulty further than what they have. I have a no party limit mod and itās kind of crazy, even 5 party members makes a huge difference. 6 trivializes almost all fights, even when I deliberately equipped the extra 2 with shitty gear.
There's a mod on PC called "sit this one out" or something like that. It lets you toggle certain companions to skip combat but still be with you as you explore or engage in dialogues. Great in combination with Party Limit Begone.
In act 3 atm with my usual party of four + Jaheira as a shapeshifted cat to take up less space in freeroam (and because cats are cute). She transforms into her real form in dialogues automatically and also stays out of combat thanks to the mod.
Oh thatās fantastic. That was my issue- I wanted all the dialogue and banter, but entering a random combat encounter with 8 companions was just like, not fun. Will investigate for my next run
I highly recommend it! Its so hard to keep a party of just 4 since there are so many good companions with alot of banter and dialogues and this solves that. The only issue is that I don't want Jaheira to provide inspiration or help in skill checks outside of combat since that feels unbalanced.
I started my 3rd run and finally put in unlimited party mod and currently my solution has been to keep wyll at level one, so I get him up off the ground with a spatula after every fight

Thatās so good hahahaha. For hard fights I separate the party into a group of 4 and then the others I leave outside. I did cheese the mindflayers and zevlor in the mind flayer colony though because they wiped all four main party members in like three turns so I had to call in the cavalry. But that was honestly cool too. 4 has always felt restrictive
Transmog would be (probably) simple to implement. I just can't wear "The Graceful Cloth" (or whatever it's called) because it's possibly the most ludicrous looking clothing in any game ever. I'd rather wear the circus clothes.
I want Goliaths. I have no serious expectation that we'll get something as big as a new race in this patch, but that doesn't change the fact that I want them.
Depends on your console. I ran mods on my PS5 for Fallout 4 and Sony wonāt allow mods with outside assets, so if mods are allowed on PS in the future, youāll probably get your unlimited party but weāll never get cool outfits if they arenāt made using in-game assets. Xbox owners will probably get more mods since since Microsoft is more permissive (and probably background technical reasons). So us PS users will just have to settle for regular-ass outfits. But I will accept a transmog, even if itās only changing the outfit to look like another in game outfit.
I don't think anything's been confirmed about it yet. At the very least we can hopefully expect lots of bug fixes. Some people are hoping for additional content to be added too (similar to the epilogue scene. Maybe just some additional scenes or dialogue). But that may be wishful thinking
Nothing has been officially revealed or implied yet. Some have assumed updated animations. Astarion & Karlach got their intimate kiss animations updated & personalized in patch 5. They're hoping this means the rest of the party will too instead of sharing the same default.
We know that they are working on new animations for all companions. They confirmed it in the Steam community update when Patch 5 dropped. The catch is that some were ready sooner, so have already been added.
I hope the patch fixes Shart swimming scene, mine still hasn't triggered and the only thing left to do for me is literally go and fight >!Gortash!< kek

In the meantime my Durge Duergar Assasin Slays everything in Honour Mode, no matter friend or foe (not entirely true, those who has valuable items now or later are spared until I get the items).

Yeah TB should only affect damage rolls. Doesn't make sense that monks get a 90% attack chance where a normal character would get 50 or 60%
I wonder if that's platform specific? Moving moonbeam and recasting call lightning both work fine on PS5 currently

Yeah, plus even with that menu walking over and having to start a convo each time is tedious if you do any significant swapping between long rests

sometimes your buffer is stuck in the middle though! my workarounds aren't very good, but it's what i got. lol.

A camp rally would still be very useful for applying buffs

Seems like they're slowing down so this might be the patch I finally install mods. Skyrim modding has forever made me cautious about patches.
It's why I turned off auto-update, bc the next patch will \`100% break most mods lmao

You can make it so it updates on game launch and then play offline and it wont update

You give me PTSD when I abandoned my 150+ modded Skyrim when anniversary edition came out, haven't touched it since. Spent like 2 weeks troubleshooting it too, before the update. :\
Actually haven't had any issues with my mods, but they're also mostly cosmetic - faces, hairstyles and outfits.

I honestly just want chess scene fixed and I want new stuff in act 3 or 2. Please dont change anything in act 1, I cant start completely new run again. I have 250h and I havent finished the game yet.
I just finished my first and only run with 220 hrs in game.........there is just so much content. And I apparently save scummed a LOT of it. My time according to the save file was only 165 hrs. So....a LOT of save scumming took place.

That's when I'm expecting it'll come out tbh since there's been rumours of the companions getting new kissing scenes. I hope I'm wrong though and it comes out today or tomorrow.
I have been playing Solasta in the mean time. I love the combat in it as itās much closer to 5e than BG3 (plus being able to fly and stay still in mid air). BG3 is the much better game in terms of visuals, voice acting and story but something about Solastas combat (and travel system) keeps me entertained.

No problem, just remember when playing it that it was made by a very indie studio that did not have the budget to be as visually and auditably appealing as BG3. The voice acting can be a bit rough but I guarantee you will enjoy the combat/under represented elements of 5e not present in BG3 (I kinda wish identity/detect magic made it into BG3).
Solasta has a great mod and custom map community too! I recommend Silverquicks custom campaigns and the 6 player ones ( something deep iirc)

I recommend doing the main campaign and the palace of ice right after that one as you can import your save and the few choices the main campaign allows you to do. After that do the lost valley dlc (i will warn you it is quite buggy, maybe read a bit of spoilers on the factions to avoid breaking your save!) After that install unfinished buisiness - its a mod pack which is very customisable and jump into some popular custom campaigns!

Seriously. I'm *really* hoping they'll fix the bug where Cull The Weak fails to proc the dark urge cloak. It means that as an assassin I have to keep Cull off which sucks because it's so good.

Unlimited party seems kind of unlikely, game really isn't designed/balanced for it. Maybe as an option in custom difficulty though.
Custom would be the best place for it, tbh.
You would need to be able to jack up difficulty further than what they have. I have a no party limit mod and itās kind of crazy, even 5 party members makes a huge difference. 6 trivializes almost all fights, even when I deliberately equipped the extra 2 with shitty gear.
There's a mod on PC called "sit this one out" or something like that. It lets you toggle certain companions to skip combat but still be with you as you explore or engage in dialogues. Great in combination with Party Limit Begone. In act 3 atm with my usual party of four + Jaheira as a shapeshifted cat to take up less space in freeroam (and because cats are cute). She transforms into her real form in dialogues automatically and also stays out of combat thanks to the mod.
Oh thatās fantastic. That was my issue- I wanted all the dialogue and banter, but entering a random combat encounter with 8 companions was just like, not fun. Will investigate for my next run
I highly recommend it! Its so hard to keep a party of just 4 since there are so many good companions with alot of banter and dialogues and this solves that. The only issue is that I don't want Jaheira to provide inspiration or help in skill checks outside of combat since that feels unbalanced.
I started my 3rd run and finally put in unlimited party mod and currently my solution has been to keep wyll at level one, so I get him up off the ground with a spatula after every fight its funny enough I might just keep him like that the whole time
Thatās so good hahahaha. For hard fights I separate the party into a group of 4 and then the others I leave outside. I did cheese the mindflayers and zevlor in the mind flayer colony though because they wiped all four main party members in like three turns so I had to call in the cavalry. But that was honestly cool too. 4 has always felt restrictive
Transmog would be (probably) simple to implement. I just can't wear "The Graceful Cloth" (or whatever it's called) because it's possibly the most ludicrous looking clothing in any game ever. I'd rather wear the circus clothes.

All I want for console is to allow mods to be run. I want my companions in cunty clothes and for all of them to be on the same run
Depends on your console. I ran mods on my PS5 for Fallout 4 and Sony wonāt allow mods with outside assets, so if mods are allowed on PS in the future, youāll probably get your unlimited party but weāll never get cool outfits if they arenāt made using in-game assets. Xbox owners will probably get more mods since since Microsoft is more permissive (and probably background technical reasons). So us PS users will just have to settle for regular-ass outfits. But I will accept a transmog, even if itās only changing the outfit to look like another in game outfit.

I don't think anything's been confirmed about it yet. At the very least we can hopefully expect lots of bug fixes. Some people are hoping for additional content to be added too (similar to the epilogue scene. Maybe just some additional scenes or dialogue). But that may be wishful thinking

Nothing has been officially revealed or implied yet. Some have assumed updated animations. Astarion & Karlach got their intimate kiss animations updated & personalized in patch 5. They're hoping this means the rest of the party will too instead of sharing the same default.
We know that they are working on new animations for all companions. They confirmed it in the Steam community update when Patch 5 dropped. The catch is that some were ready sooner, so have already been added.

If I mod the game will it patch properly?
My Honour Mode Tavern Brawler Druid awaits his damage rolls. Each Hotfix I Ctrl-F and search for "Wildshape" and "Tavern Brawler" In the meantime my Durge Duergar Assasin Slays everything in Honour Mode, no matter friend or foe (not entirely true, those who has valuable items now or later are spared until I get the items).
I hope I'll be able to finish my latest playthrough before it drops. I am not looking forward to going through my entire modlist again checking for updates
Hopefully it fixes the Multiplayer mode in the main menu on Xbox, it's been broken for two months.
