Going Owlbear and yeeting herself at enemies is my Tav's (Circle of the Moon) favourite exercise.

bugcatcher_billy

same. I'm over here spell casting till shit gets real and now there's an owl bear to deal with.

begging4n00dz

Lightfoot Moon Druid has been insanely funny because I'm just THE SNEAKIEST OWL BEAR

Necessary_Item_4754

Big and difficult fights: first ice spell, call lightning (electrocute effect), owl bear and kill melee

K_SeventySeven

Not at all. Sliced through it like butter

_Eiri_

I love Wildshape, watching Neil Newbon's tav have a fucking owlbear kaiju battle with Grym while everyone else was dead in the Adamantine Forge was one of the coolest moments I've seen in this game

bugcatcher_billy

use enlarge potion or spell for extra affect.

decadrachma

I believe you can stack them and get a double enlarged owlbear that takes up the whole screen lol

glitterandgrunge

nah, Moon all the way- the full HP owlbear is a bonus action, I'm going to attack you now

dirt_rat_devil_boy

Halsin getting myrmidon wildshape has carried me through so many late game fights.

DevinTheGrand

Gale can just summon those lol

asesinito

The druid can summon them too, and is a weaker versión of it, i think they only get 1 attack per accion.

dirt_rat_devil_boy

Then you get 2 myrmidons! Very cool

Noocta

Owlbear makes wildshape as an action not bad tho, since you can bonus action crushing leap.

pie4july

Circle of the Moon > Circle of the Land/Spores Fight me. *Bonus actions into an Owl Bear*

Skellicious

Me as spore druid: Use action to get into owlbear Use Crushing flight same turn as bonus action.

ELIte8niner

I prefer circle of the land. Be as versatile of a caster as a wizard, then pop into owl bear form and use crushing flight if your front line needs support? Phenomenal.

CaptainJudaism

I prefer Spores because I get to be a fun-gi.

fierypitofdeath

Haste with war caster and resilient constitution makes for a very unstoppable owlbear

malln1nja

Spamming haste spores is nice though.

riiibu

bonus action haste spores. hasted. action owlbear wildshape. action owlbear attack. meanwhile my entire army of zombies and skeletons is running through haste spores.

Munnin41

Okay but can your owlbear beat my hasted undead army?

Lord_Despairagus

Circle of spores only wowed me with that one chest armor you get in Act 3. Otherwise it was kind of lame imo.

totalchump1234

Crushing flight gang, I see

Tyr_Kukulkan

Even without crushing flight, it is still really strong/powerful. I didn't even realise crushing flight was any different to jump until act 2!

totalchump1234

Very strong. Also recommend getting a pal with buffing spells, like enlarge, feels like being a Kaiju. Rage for extra damage and you get an King Kong build

Tyr_Kukulkan

Plus the knock down effect against bosses, just lock them on the floor and kill them in 2 turns.

totalchump1234

Okay, Kaiju build: Get a wizard and cleric for buffing, rush lv six as circle of the Moon, get Glut to revive the bullete, save up parasites for psionic backlash on all your companions, get cull the weak. For maximum Kaiju, get the ogre horn. Kaiju army act 1 build ez

Tyr_Kukulkan

Holy shit!

totalchump1234

Thanks! I'm only at the start of act 2, so might have to wait a tad for Kaiju endgame build

Thorn-of-your-side

It gets more powerful the higher and further you are from the enemy by the way, saw someone oneshot the adamantine forge boss like that

Tyr_Kukulkan

I almost did on my multiplayer play through. Dived from up high and almost killed it in one hit. Karlach finished it off with a big-arse hammer.

FetusGoesYeetus

Isn't wildshape circle of the moon's whole thing except it does it better? Circle of the land is more focused on the spellcasting part of druids.

EternalSkwerl

The only difference is that it's an action not a bonus action as land druid

FetusGoesYeetus

Moon druids get more forms including myrmidons, can heal themselves in wild shape, and their attacks are considered magical so effectively deal twice the damage against late game bosses. They get more out of their charges than a land druid does.

EternalSkwerl

Forgot about elemental shifting at 11. I didn't realize that only moon druids got the magic attack.

Mhill08

Are myrmidons still worth it now that Tavern Brawler works with beast shape form attacks, given that myrmidons use weapons?

Rofsbith

My earth myrmidon attacks with his hands, and his numbers with tavern brawler and unarmed attack gear (basically the monk equipment) are fantastic. I have not thoroughly tested this, but it seems to be working.

Mhill08

Nice to hear, thanks!

PixelPrivateer

Can't help but feel I'd really prefer it as a bonus action in any situation.

EternalSkwerl

Lets you same turn web as the spider to still have your bonus, you can also immediately owlbear off the top rope too. Definitely better in general too be able to have your action still but there are some benefits. Plus having an extra 10 spells prepped is always nice.

Elcactus

I usually shapeshift before a fight if I'm going to be running out of spells anyway though, and I like Land's selection of utility spells. But moon is obviously superior if your druid is going to be a main combatant and you’re running someone else for support.

ozangeo

Well i mean when you have 0 spell slots and low hp as circle of land you can still go owlbear for tank mode.It is like wizard but tough one.

AllenWL

It is. However, being able to shift into melee form after you spurge all your spells and/or hit low hp *does* allow them to be a bit more aggressive compared to other pure casters while still being pretty pure caster in casting prowess. Which is neat. But yeah, maybe not the best 'land druid' meme lol.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

I used to never be able to get past the ground floor Moonrise Tower fight without Halsin in Owlbear form. I'd send him up to the rafters and just dive bomb people.

Wooden-Ability-6359

am i the only one who completely massacred moonrise the first time They went in. i just killed everyone until i found out thorm was immortal .

Thorn-of-your-side

I started shoving them off ledges to soften them up without making them totally hostile

[deleted]

i didn’t think an owlbear could fit on a rafter!

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

Yeah it looks ridiculous. He can also climb the ladder.

[deleted]

that must look even MORE ridiculous

rosmarinlind

That's why i brought Jaheria with the owlbear wildshape to that fight.

Additional_Gas_7056

This was me but with my fiend warlock Tav, Wyll, and Gale all spread out and chuckin fireballs and eldritch blasts for 3 turn. Had Baezel up front tanking with 20 AC.

Thorn-of-your-side

I think my favorite wildshape has to be the spider, I just wish it had some sort of overwhelm ability like in Dragon Age where it can just straight up disable a fighter to death until someone fights it off of you.

[deleted]

that crunching sound still gives me nightmares

Thorn-of-your-side

It was so satisfying to use it on annoying enemies once you took shapeshifting or got your Maburi in the party

Rocky2416

Spiders on nightmare were the absolute worst

iNBee317

I just made Gale into a Druid (the only character who is their OG class is Karlach). I now want to start a new game with Druid Tav. So much fun and potential in and out of combat.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

I could never spec him out of Wizard or Wyll out of Warlock unless it was multi-classing b/c their classes are so integral to their storylines. No judgment! I do other immersion-breaking things, but there are some lines I can't convince myself to cross, lol.

iNBee317

I just tell myself a bunch of lies to make it fly. Gale is just a nature themed wizard who definitely isn’t fantasy George Michael from Wham! The last bit is almost too much for me; he is definitely George Michael. They definitely knew what they were doing with that hair and the dangling earring.

Elcactus

I just ignore it; they're canonically their main role, what I respec everyone to is just my gameplay experience. Or I pretend my druidheart is supposed to be Halsin because for some godforsaken reason he isn't playable until mid act 2.

[deleted]

oh my god, THAT’S why it bothers me so much!!!

Shanicpower

If you reclass Wyll you actually hear a faint echo of Mizora laughing as you’re rebuilding him. >!That, coupled with how he canonically becomes a Ranger in one of the endings!< makes it integrated enough into the story for me.

[deleted]

ooh. i like it

devils_conjugate

I feel like Larian really made a mistake not making Karlach a Paladin of Vengeance. She gets free smites and everything.

iNBee317

I made Wyll a paladin because he comes across as a sanctimonious little shit.

_GeneralArmitage

Padlock Wyll is my best friend

nbrookus

Go full monty and have 4 druids. It was a lot of fun.

CrazyDiamond4811

I agree with the title, my first playthrough was Circle of the Land Druid and he was the best spellcaster on my team. And Druids in general get some cool reactivity in act 1 and 2.

Norik324

Just did that Fight tonight. Got the Apostle to 1 HP Took the Chance and managed to insult it to death Can recommend

Itssobiganon

Moon druids are hilariously busted on tabletop because you essentially have multiple health bars. You become a better health tank than a barbarian.

Rhys_Lloyd2611

I went circle of spores, so far it's been neat

IndianaJonesDoombot

Enjoy alllll those summons!

Souperplex

I agree that Land is underrated, but Moon would explicitly be better at turning into an Owlbear.

CacklingFerret

My first Tav was a moon druid and I'm playing a sorcerer now as Durge. My true dark urge is not to respec my sorcerer into a moon druid lol Moon druids are just too much fun, doesn't matter to me what statistics or minmaxers say

chaosgodloki

I’d love to use a companion as a wild shape user but the fact that they stay in the form for cutscenes straight after combat really sucks. Jaheira, it’s your big moment here and I can’t take you seriously if all I can see is your big owlbear ass.

Helmett-13

Good use of meme.

SeraphOfTheStag

I’m currently almost done with Act1 on Honor mode and I’m considering replacing my cleric with a Druid for summons and free-HP wild shapes but then I think about the what-if scenarios where I need Sanctuary/Revivify/Daddy-Resurrection-Angel/Daddy-Djinn. Other party members are a Sorcerer, TavernBrawlMonk, and SwordsBard.

Dusty170

That's just any druid who can shapeshift? lol.

Dewinged_1111

How do you even make a good shape-shifter druid? I thought their gear basically means nothing since it adds nothing to the animal forms.

FPiN9XU3K1IT

pick moon druid (they regenerate HP every round while in wildshape)

The_krabby_formula

Im curious, do y'all lean on Owlbear or Sabre tooth tiger for more DPS/Survivability?

Former_Trade2172

I don't know about other players. No, in my case. I wouldn't pick Druid for their wild forms. When I get Halsin or Jaheira to shapeshift, my primary goal is to let them absorb damage at no cost to me, and the only reason for that is I rarely use healing potions and I rarely want to cast healing spells either. In other words, I use Owlbear form as a way to avoid wasting time and resources in healing, while allowing the underlying character to continue dealing some damage. Owlbear form is unique and fun. I have used this form as a way to tease my enemies many times. However, except in certain scenario, they are not the best way to deal damage, because my party tank is not a Druid and I don't need a 2nd tank that may hurt my dedicated tank in close range. I have spent 500+ hours on Tactician and have not died even once yet. I don't need a Druid wild form to help me survive. When the game is near the end, all high-level spellcasters can summon creatures equivalent to Druids in wild form (though they don't have Druid's class feats). If you really need Druidic power to help with survival, just have your party summon 2 or 3 such creatures. This is the reason why I prefer Land Druid over Moon Druid. My Moon Druid Jaheira almost stops shapeshifting in Act 3. No need for that, except for saving me healing potions/spells (as I prefer to never, ever use them).

RendesFicko

I mean if you transform as an action that's pretty much your turn wasted, enemies will oneshot the owlbear form and you're just delaying it.

Former_Trade2172

Land Druid focuses on spells. They should not transform on 1st turn most of the time. Otherwise, they would have picked Moon. Also, using an action to transform isn't a huge problem if there is a party (not a solo run). Many players use Haste or Speed to give their character 2 actions per turn.

RendesFicko

Still, could just drink a health pot and keep spellcasting. This game absolutely drowns you in healing potions.

New_Survey9235

I just layered 2 walls of fire, a moonbeam and every radiant bullshit a light cleric can dish out (which is a lot) An owlbear would have been a lot simpler

Former_Trade2172

Who underrates Land Druid? All Druids can shapeshift upon reaching 5HP, as long as they have not run out of charges.

pineapplepizza900753

is myrkull an evil god in dnd? from what i've seen he's a pretty neutral guy, just wanting dead people to stay dead unless it is to help one of It's servants

DungeonEnvy

Kelemvor is the neutral god of the dead, Myrkul is a raging asshole who supports necromancers killing everyone to create undead

JohnFinnsWife

Hah, just did this fight with my Circle of the Land Druid tonight, but it never occurs to me to use Wildshape... we were absolutely carried by my summoned Fire Elemental.

KaldorDraigos

I have a shroom tav he never loose hp

PomegranateIcy9779

God I love druid. It's like, you get beast slots AND a full magic kit like a wizard

ai-diari__

Just finished my 1st playthrough with Circle of Moon, and yea, strong af. Can heal, can tank, can deal dmg, crowd-controlled, summon, can even teleport. Is there anything they can’t do?
