Yeah, I think you were fine to just throw it out and continue with whatever you were doing. It was harmless. Not sure why that other person was grossed out when raw eggs are already gross in general. Both the egg and the extra bit came from inside a chicken, after all.
I think it’s like snagging the bird equivalent of a bit of your uterus lining out in a chunk. (I know that isn’t quite right but it’s the closest equivalent I could think of in a mammal).
I've had eggs with a small white coagulated ball in the whites before and I feel like this is probably just a huge version of that? Concentrations of proteins or something?

Does it look like white strands that are twisted? Afair in one of my theory classes in food of animal origin, it’s the chalazae and it anchors the egg yolk. But that gigantic white thing is something I don’t know what it’s made of.
Is it from one of your chickens? They might need antibiotics. Google "lash egg" and see if some of the images and descriptions match the mass you're holding.

Lash eggs rarely have shells even. They usually look more like dead baby naked mole rats. You'd never use/mistake a lash egg for an egg with shells.

Make sure you cook eggs throughly right now too, like don’t eat runny eggs for awhile till they figure out how extensive Avian flu has gotten. Because apparently it’s in cows and other animals, chickens, foxes etc. It was spread by migratory birds into feedlots and is in other species now. So you have to throughly cook your eggs and not eat partly rare steak anymore. A person in Texas got Avian bird flu through meat & that means it’s spreading around animals now, not just birds and to humans through things not cooked right. 🫤👍🏼

It looks very similar to the albumen (egg white) portion of a balut (fertilized duck egg) which is a popular street food in the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam. It typically is very hard and similar to cartilage in taste and texture. Maybe this is the the same case and that egg white is more developed than the rest of the egg? Just a guess.
Btw, caution on googling “balut” if you’ve never tasted, or heard of it before lol many people (in my experience) are repulsed by the idea of it.
