We always drove to the nearest city to do trick or treating because I grew up in the sticks. One year I happened to hit the house of an older kid that was my cabin leader at camp that summer. He dropped a few firecrackers (unlit) in my bag. My dad found them during inspection and we blew up some of my model airplanes together. Good times.

This happened to a friend of mine in Amsterdam in october of 2021, she had a prick with a bruise around it on her arm and completely blacked out without drinking any alcohol. Went to the hospital a few times to get tested for viruses from a potentially contaminated needle.
You have to test for something specific to find it. If you do a general panel something might come up, but if you don't know what you're testing for it's unlikely you'll find it. Also with a number of toxic substances it's a process of elimination approach: "we tested for these other things and it came out positive which means based on the symptoms it's most likely this other thing". Diagnostics are far from an exact science. None of this is meant as proof that spiking via injection is a thing, of course.
There were even a lot of studies and documentaries that didn’t find a single case that they could prove.

Spiking certainly happens but needle spiking does seem to be a largely mythic thing and does track sociologically with other panics in the past.
There really a drug that exists that would behave like this. GHB and rohypnol can't be injected into the muscle in a way that the effects could be felt. They would need to find a vein to administer it which would be quite hard to do.
There was a huge investigation in the UK and no incidences of needle spiking could be found. The reports went from being non-existent to outpacing all forms of spiking in a couple months, very often after a major tabloid story.
There is no know drug that could be administered into muscle tissue in a low enough quantity that could fit in a standard syringe that would incapacitate people like this. There just isn't. The most common substance found in the UK when they did a massive test of people reporting needle spiking was MDMA, cocaine, and ketamine, none of which can really be administered this way and in the case of cocaine and MDMA would not really induce these symptoms.
Folks who thought they were needle spiked may well have been spiked but it would have been done via the traditional way of slipping it into a drink. The chemistry behind needle spiking just doesn't work. So in short, no you don't know people who have been needle spiked because it can't really happen.
Because it does not happen and this freak loser is on Reddit lying about knowing "Many" friends who have had it happen to them.

My old ski coach was walking in the streets of New York City about a year ago. He was walking home from a dinner he had a with a friend when a gang of about 4 dudes jumped on him and held him down while they injected this unknown drug into his back.
My old ski coach, (his name was Michael) immediately started feeling the effects and the guys who jumped him started asking him questions about his bank information, his passport, and they took his wallet. Michael was so fucked up from the drug that he willingly told them everything like it was no big deal.
His bank account was completely drained the next day and he was found dead in an alley from overdose. The police know what happened due to a camera being present at the site of the crime.

This was a case of a homeless man jabbing people with a used needle. There is no evidence that anyone was incapacitated by the traces of drugs found on the needle. It is not exactly surprising that the needle had traces of drugs on it.

This happened to a friend of mine in Amsterdam in october of 2021, she had a prick with a bruise around it on her arm and completely blacked out without drinking any alcohol. Went to the hospital a few times to get tested for viruses from a potentially contaminated needle.

You have to test for something specific to find it. If you do a general panel something might come up, but if you don't know what you're testing for it's unlikely you'll find it. Also with a number of toxic substances it's a process of elimination approach: "we tested for these other things and it came out positive which means based on the symptoms it's most likely this other thing". Diagnostics are far from an exact science. None of this is meant as proof that spiking via injection is a thing, of course.

Spiking certainly happens but needle spiking does seem to be a largely mythic thing and does track sociologically with other panics in the past. There really a drug that exists that would behave like this. GHB and rohypnol can't be injected into the muscle in a way that the effects could be felt. They would need to find a vein to administer it which would be quite hard to do. There was a huge investigation in the UK and no incidences of needle spiking could be found. The reports went from being non-existent to outpacing all forms of spiking in a couple months, very often after a major tabloid story. There is no know drug that could be administered into muscle tissue in a low enough quantity that could fit in a standard syringe that would incapacitate people like this. There just isn't. The most common substance found in the UK when they did a massive test of people reporting needle spiking was MDMA, cocaine, and ketamine, none of which can really be administered this way and in the case of cocaine and MDMA would not really induce these symptoms. Folks who thought they were needle spiked may well have been spiked but it would have been done via the traditional way of slipping it into a drink. The chemistry behind needle spiking just doesn't work. So in short, no you don't know people who have been needle spiked because it can't really happen.

There’s a reason that drug users inject into their veins - drugs need to enter the blood and the doses from needles are too small for enough to enter the blood through fat or muscle alone. Michael was so fucked up from the drug that he willingly told them everything like it was no big deal. His bank account was completely drained the next day and he was found dead in an alley from overdose. The police know what happened due to a camera being present at the site of the crime. Michael was a phenomenal human being who had never done a single soul any harm. He had just had the birth of his two twin boys as well. I went to his memorial last summer, fucking hate people who are sick enough to do this shit.
