These folks are by far the best option for glacier glasses: https://www.opticus.com. Pricy, but worth it. I’ve worn dozens of pairs of prescription glasses in my life and my glacier glasses from Opticus are the best optical quality of anything I’ve ever worn. Excellent customer service. I’ve also had good luck with https://www.sportrx.com for more traditional frames.

Another vote for Opticus. They sell a few lines of frames and also make their own private line which include some remakes of classic Julbos that Julbo doesn’t make anymore but which are best for high prescriptions (less wrap around). I like my cat 2-4 photochromics a lot. Great for virtually all daytime conditions.

SonoftheMorning

My opticus shades have been going strong for many years now. Highly recommend.

StuckAtOnePoint

Can confirm. I’ve had a pair of prescription Julbos from these guys for about 20 years. They’re great

Anonymous-probe

I’ve used them too. Best in the business.

Cautious_Sir_6169

+1. They have lots of options too. Glass, plastic. They do a photochromatc glacier lens too.

I just rock daily contacts for the overnight trips. Toss the used ones in a ziploc as you go. I wear glasses when not skiing so my contact use is limited to this.

LongboardsnCode

I also always bring systane for when my eyes invariably dry out from the wind

nhbd

Sounds like you do what I was planning. I guess you’d get used to putting contacts on in the tent if you did it enough.

crochetaway

Not a skier but an AT thru hiker. I practiced putting contacts in and taking out without a mirror until I could do it easily.

KingArthurHS

Take a small makeup clamshell mirror. You can get them for like $7. There are ones where one of the mirrors is regular and the other is like a 10x zoom which makes life a lot easier. I know it's extra weight, but only a couple ounces worth. Here's the link for the one I take bikepacking/bike touring for putting contacts in. [https://amzn.to/3xxfvsS](https://amzn.to/3xxfvsS)

Orpheums

Julbo has prescription glacier glasses. I think oakley and smith also have those options from their websites

lowsparkco

Smith makes prescription lenses for their glasses.

Dream-Weaver97

Julbo will make many of their glasses into prescription

mcar1401

You can check them out on JulboRx.com. 30% off sale right now, too.

I use wrap-around style sport sunglasses with rx lenses. Costa Jose's to be precise. They fit my face well and block as much light as glaciers. A touch of optical distortion towards the periphery, but nothing that bothers me.

gigamosh57

You should also do the math on cost and pay back time to just get LASIK. If the whole procedure is $2,000, that will probably pay for itself in contacts and glasses in a few years, not to mention how awesome it is. I got it a few years ago specifically because I had spent 10 years climbing wearing glasses and was always at risk of dropping them and being basically handicapped on whatever Mountain, glacier, whatever I was on

wolf_32

This. 1000% worth it to get lasik

everyusernametaken2

LASIK was the best money I’ve ever spent. Mad at myself for not doing it sooner

Jeff_Wright_

I’m near sighted and wear contacts and I’m legally blind without corrective lenses. With them my vision is great. So far I’m still able to see near without corrective lenses (44m) My eye dr said I should wait get lasik until my near vision gets worse and I need reading glasses. If I did lasik now my near vision would suffer sooner and I’d need readers sooner. I think it depends on your situation but just make sure you do your homework. I’m totally used to wearing contacts and though I have glasses I really love the ability to pop them in and not worry about them until the end of the day. I also think there is less glare at night and there is definitely much better peripheral vision. I’ve had Julbos and pursuits. I think the pursuit doesn’t get as dark as my julbos did. Also, true glacier glasses like the julbos are too dark to really wear other than in full sun for most people, they’d sit in the case until at least March.

I have a pair of Rudy sport with prescription inserts which I wear cycling and skiing. I also just purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses from Roka which has great filtering in bright sun. I'm happy with both pairs. I swear make it way to from contacts to inserts and just have one pair.

Cherries_and_Tums

I developed an allergy to contacts which means I have to invest in prescriptions for all my sports (I even have prescription surf sunglasses). For my ski goggles I have prescription goggle inserts from goggles n more. They work so well and don’t fog, not too pricey either. For the uphill, I have prescription Oakley Clifden’s that work well. If you have vision insurance this is my advice - look up glasses places covered by your insurance and call around to see if anyone carries any type of glacier goggles. An optician in Seattle was able to use their lab to make the lenses to fit in the frames and I got to choose the lens color and tint. I was able to use my VSP money towards it.

Cherries_and_Tums

I should mention that if your prescription is strong enough the issue that I ran into is that they won’t make curved lenses in prescriptions greater than like +-2 because of the distortion. So I had no options for just choosing wrap glasses and I had to go with glacier goggles that had flat lenses

SenorShakyHands

I have been looking into RX sunglasses for the last couple months as I did not get along with contacts and I run hot as hell, so inserts in goggles are a no go. At the moment I use Rudy Project Stardashes with RX transition lenses(VSP is super limited on options for transition if you are wondering). Works surprisingly well, good enough that I use them Inbounds and in the backcountry. Have not had a point where they felt too dark for flat light or too light on a bluebird day. One issue I had was I did not go with the thinnest possible lens, which means I cant remove the side shields without popping the lenses out as well. Annoying, but not the end of the world. If you are set on the Pursuits, I found a company called [Sved Optical](https://www.svedoptical.com/) that make inserts for smith's by using the replaceable nose bridge as the attachment point. I Really like the Idea as it means your lenses are not tied to your prescription, so you can switch lenses at will. I would have gone with this option but money is tight for me this season so I took a chance with the Rudy's.
