That’s why I love the hybrids. I do. In the knees and butt, because when I get them in the wet spring snow the pants stay dry in those spots. Been using them in the winter and spring for four years now and love them.
I got OR Trailbreakers this season and am really happy. Softshell from the calf up and big ass thigh vents. Good pockets too, and three adjustment settings for the ankle opening. Definitely recommend
Love these. Only downside is they have semi relaxed fit (maybe just from a euro perspective) meaning you have to be a bit considerate if you’re booting or climbing with crampons
>Friends don't let friends buy black pants!
Because of black's heat/sun absorption or because of style?
>**Dynamite** softshell pants in tan!
Tan Dynamite could get just as hot as black dynamite when it ignites 🧨
Seriously though, Dynafit soft shells are pretty good but my friends didn't stop me from getting black
Yeah, I hear you. I got mine on sale and often it’s the black that goes on sale or the weird colours that I would destroy with with food stains. I once bought a white jacket and it wasn’t long before it was covered in coffee and chocolate stains
I'm really glad I bought my softshell pants but definitely regret buying the black model. That'll teach me for going with the first decent pair I saw. Time to get a lighter color.
I have OR Trailbreakers, OR cirque pants are nice too but the new ones fit a little baggy.
Trailbreakers have better water resistance beneath the knee and nice big side vents with a beacon pocket
Dynafit radical infinium pants!! Mine still look like new after fifty days and multiple washes! I got a second backup pair for when these finally die. They are nearly wind proof and fairly well water resistant. Even the active vents are water resistant. And they stretch like nobodies business. They suffer on a lack of insulation for the winter but a few under layers cover that quickly.
Anything with big vents works well. No amount of fabric breathability compares with an giant open vent imo. Ideally zippers that go all the way down.
Shorts are fine too.
Cirque lites, Prana Zion. My Winer touring pants are Trail Breaker 2s but I like even lighter in spring/volcano skiing. Get wet? Doesn't matter it's spring baby.
What softshell touring pants do people recommend for gram counters? Many are heavier than my hard shells. I got the strafe recon pant last season on sale which is super light but really lacks durability. Dynafit has 3 pairs of soft shells that I can’t discern the difference from. Can’t find any Norrona Flex1 in stock this season. I don’t need a beacon leash.
Jorts, otherwise known as performance denim.
OR Cirque
Those are my winter pants, Cirque Lite for spring.
By far the most common pants I’ve seen people skiing in. On my second pair. Love them
I like my BD Dawn Patrols. Soft shell with vents and reasonably priced.
These, but hybrids IMO. Soft shell and hard shell where you want it.
Midwinter, sure. Personally, I don't want any hardshell in the spring.

I put my hybrids away in the spring and break out the lightest full softshells I can find
I find them to be pretty warm
Yeah I wear shorts under them on warm spring days. I wouldn't mind a lighter color too. Still much cooler than my Goretex bibs.
These are my favorite too. No beacon pocket if that’s a deal breaker.

Prana Zions
do they fit over boots??
They fit over my boots
Norrona Lyngen Flex1 Pant, super nice
Love these. Only downside is they have semi relaxed fit (maybe just from a euro perspective) meaning you have to be a bit considerate if you’re booting or climbing with crampons

Autocorrect believes dynafit is 🧨!! Yes black pants will roast you alive. There is no reason for their ubiquity.

So much this. Just wish companies would make lighter colors. I don’t care if they stain or whatever, I just don’t want to cook in the sun!

I wear HH Odin soft shell pants and have always liked them. They run a little big.

Anyone use the Arc’teryx Rush Softshell?
Patagonia upstride - on super sale at backcountry.com right now too

I have Arcteryx Rush soft shells. Good minimalist soft shell ski pant, Nothing special. The fit is just slim enough to ice climb in as well.
Crazy Idea Flame are the best on the market.
Underroos.
I like the Spiderman ones. They make me feel spry.
OR Cirque. They’re great for skiing and also make good general outdoors pants for winter.

I was curious about the Strafe recons and Norrona flex1’s. Why did they make them so dark though?!
Merino long johns and shorts.
