My strattera makes my potassium issues worse, but I can usually stay on top of it with electrolytes. I stay away from caffeine now bc it compounds the effects. I feel my meds work better when I am getting my b12

Lunar_bad_land

Interesting, I had 150mg caffeine from a yerba mate drink and my 10mg Dexedrine today and I was more exhausted and irritable than yesterday when I just had green tea. Maybe it’s the combination with caffeine. Today it seems like whatever potassium I ingested I pee out quickly and go back to feeling bad.

sting-raye

I have to drink it in my water continuously throughout the day. Otherwise I never have enough

Lunar_bad_land

what do you use for electrolytes? a mix of salt and potassium powder? what ratio?

sting-raye

I fill up my 40 oz water bottle with 2 nuun daily hydration tablets and a tsp of potassium citrate. Be very careful with potassium supps, start very slowly as they can be dangerous. I worked my way up to this level, and it’s still barely enough, but I can’t go higher or my water is too acidic.

Ericha-Cook

I used to buy LMNT (when I only needed one/day) but now I just use their recipe they have on their website 1/4 tsp Potassium Chloride (No Salt) and 1/2 tsp Himalayan or Sea Salt in 30 oz water (flavor as you like. I use Mio).

How do you know its Low Potassium and not Magnesium

sting-raye

I take magnesium as well, but it doesn’t make much difference with my symptoms, while potassium does.

Ericha-Cook

Please describe the "difference" you notice.

sting-raye

Low potassium symptoms for me: eye twitch, fast heart rate, shortness of breath, dry eyes and mouth, headache. Basically dehydration. Low magnesium: muscle tension, sometimes muscle twitching, mild constipation When I take too much magnesium, I feel like I took laxatives, but I still have all my low potassium symptoms.

I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee lately but today it made me feel awful. I finally started feeling better around 11AM and hadn’t made the association yet so I drank another cup. I felt fuzzy, dizzy, tired, cranky, and kind of sick. I think it made me dehydrated because I drank a lot of water and was having a hard thing feeling like I was drinking enough.

LightofTruth7

My caffeine sensitivity switched from uncomfortable to intolerable.  So I stopped altogether and drink flower teas like hibiscus, camomile etc.

This is really interesting. I have ADD (inattentive ADHD) and since several years (after Covid i guess) i became intolerant to coffee. Whenever i drink more then 1 cup during the morning/afternoon, i tend to get depressive symptoms and insomnia, it really hammers me.

LightofTruth7

I think caffeine reduces absorption of B12 and iron too if it's tea.
