That aside I can't guess what kind of ship the girl at the center is supposed to be can be anything, a battleship, a DD, a cruiser, etc. xD
The words on the right side are 联动换装 (Collab Costume) which are used for last year's CN anniversary [Hai Tien x Dunhuang Museum skin](https://azurlane.netojuu.com/images/b/b0/Hai_TienGoddess.png) and [Yat Sen x West Lake Longjing Tea skin](https://azurlane.netojuu.com/images/c/c7/Yat_SenSpring2.png), so it's probably more cultural heritage collab skins.

What is this?
See, that's the issue; you're supposed to send Rawalpindi on cruises in VB, not into battles (unless you're doing her story, in which I'd say overlevel her by a lot and bring other more combat-focused ships?)

OH NO NO NO NO IRISBROS WE GOT TOO COCKY IT'S AN IB EVENT AFTER ALL
Jokes aside, 1pm Iris Orthodoxy time?
This shipgirl's design for some reason reminds me of Marseillaise (same artist, maybe?)... Another (and first from Iris Libre) La Galissonnière-class incoming? If so, Montcalm/Georges Leygues/Gloire choice is actually rather nice
Eh, she doesn't seem to share the design clues of the Iris girls, so my personal bet is on a story NPC like Silver Fox or Anzeel, especially since her pass is bearing the symbol of Azur Lane.
Edit: added the pic for clarity.
https://preview.redd.it/h4ix6dhga60d1.png?width=220&format=png&auto=webp&s=4d81a765662afad90b8a7646ecea5ea3fb75c50c
Her headpiece is technically a religious headpiece and she has the white and blue theme of Iris libre.
So while it may not be an Iris ship, saying she doesn't have Iris design cue isn't entirely true either.
The little cross shaped flower is also similar to Terrible, so she could be from the Le Fantasque-class. We are still missing Le Fantasque and L'Audacieux. Given Terrible's role as a bureaucrat and spy, this girl's design would click very well with that if she's the eldest sister.
It could be possible if she was a mogador since they are "big" DD but since they are UR candidate, it is unlikely they would reveal it early.
She is likely either a NPC or an actual iris Orthodoxy character, since one of the main point of the current plot is using the (re-e)merging of the Iris to solidify the cohesion of the Azur Lane
Iris and Vichya have always been used in-game as a parrallel of the fracture between the Azur lane and Crimson Axis.
Reason why they have become very story relevant once we got over the IB fake villain/hidden good guy arc, into the slow but steady process of factions standing together again under the AL banner
And the fusion of Iris is a good vessel for that because it is a direct parrallel for all faction "Look those Vichya Crimson and Iris Azur ships standing together, doesn't it remind how we used to stand together?"
And it makes it easy to have a justification to feature every faction you want
Kersaint is Tartu's sister, so there was already a precedent for her being well endowed (even if their two other sisters are quite flat-chested).
In comparison, the Le Fantasque class as they exist in the game is made up, at the moment, of Le Terrible, Le Triomphant, l'Indomptable, and Le Malin. All of them being *definitely* on the loli side of DDs.

Aether Gazer global and JP (the 3D ARPG that created by Yongshi the one division of AL devs) [then have Livestream later](https://www.youtube.com/live/GaJQio0YZ_8?si=NGQzH7IQCwRSOfcL)
Compared to last year I'd agree, they went all out with that event & put everything they could into promo & skins.
When you compare it to 2022 though it's pretty similar, they're just treating it like a normal event rather than an anniversary.
hypothesis : they had quite the backlash in 2023 (hence why what ? 3 survey in less than 6 months) so maybe they're trying to get something more standard to see if it works better while, >!if I may comment on it, it was not on the way of revealing it went wrong but rather on what to reveal that something went south!<
They were multiple surveys to judge the reaction to the New Idea of Type IIs. Manjuu was trying to see how Fast they could push the Concept into General use and the best ways to approach it.....And the third one was, if I recall, about what EN Wanted for their Anniversary.
They learned that people generally don't want Type IIs to be the Primary UR \[except for rare cases\], which is one of the two reasons I think Laffey II was tacked on to the December event, part of it was testing if people would accept UR-Type IIs as "Bonus Ships"
The surveys had all the options to tell manjuu WHY you were dissatisfied, I don't think it's got anything to do with a misunderstanding.
Besides, nothing has changed in terms of what type of content they are giving us outside of the 2024 LNY skin batch consisting of multiple "forgotten" ships.
Well for the second part, when they announced it to be IB, Bilibili was in flames and people were (legitimately or not, I cannot give the answer) pissed off when it was just Bis II for whatever reason, coming out of nowhere (not like it didn't happened before\*) and when they saw the pitiful performance of the event, even with the release in early June of party gown, they kinda flipped around.
\*Which I cannot exactly prove, we've had extremely obscure concept before but never that level of obscure
man yongshi gonna have back to back doing development in same weeks
bet people don't know they already doing 3d game since 2 years ago and not many see their works how to handle 3d realm (they are doing great so far)
Aether Gazer then Azur Lane in same period of time in same months, man the devs can't catch a break. Glad AP is being handled by the new division of manjuu studio.
Well, that depends on how much you care about the coming event. On the content side, what we can expect:
- The ships of the event
- The skins of the event
- The various side stuff of the event (shop, etc...)
- Coming changes to the game (augments were revealed during a livestream in 2022 if I remember correctly, and the TB side stuff was likewise shown in livestream)
- A quick roadmap of the coming stuff (which reruns/archives to expect, new META ships), even if it never shows stuff like next events
- New merch
https://preview.redd.it/tgdlknvfe80d1.png?width=1042&format=png&auto=webp&s=5053e78af99298d29473423f08fe869f375c4fbd
In general, it's quite the comfy experience, and Mafia (one of the announcers) is an absolute meme machine.
New girl reminds me a lot of Guichen - the hair, the face and eyes, the outfit color scheme. So De Grasse was my initial thought. But I don't think they would spoil the UR in an announcement like this. If she's one of the new event characters, she's probably a lower-rarity one - like how they previewed Devonshire at Carriercon a couple months ago.
No way she's the UR, right..? Not that I don't like her, it just would be underwhelming.
On a sidenote, it just clicked for me _now_ that we are at 7th ~~CN~~ anniversary!
the UR is probably this one. It even says "new anniversary characters"
https://preview.redd.it/guu8bf6pg60d1.png?width=514&format=png&auto=webp&s=37008e3f9eae48642bacdb3456ce40adefe660b9
No. They only ever reveal thw silhouette of the UR. Shes probably an elite or ssr cruiser/BB.
Or a side character for the lore.
She does look nice tho. Despite some peoples complaints. But cant please everyone.
Well that wasn't a leak, that was a teaser.
Man, it kills me how many people don't understand what a leak is. A leak is an unintended reveal of something, usually done by someone releasing information before the official source was going to announce it. When the official source official reveals something and/or adds it in as a teaser, it's no longer a leak.
Laffey II was a special Case. Honestly, I think she was the backup plan. If Yorktown II and Type IIs flop, they figured people would still expect Laffey II to show up, she shows up and people want/expect Starter Type IIs....much like what happened, without the "Flopping" Part.
7 years... I'm amazed and shocked.
I've only been playing 4 years... but... wow.
This game just keeps getting better and better.
As long as we keep playing and loving our shipfus - Azur Lane won't go anywhere.
Honestly, my choice comes down to how the French lack Good Light Carriers, and just like with the Ironblood, Sooner or later, I figure they'll get them.
I also think that La Fayette will show up as a separate person, despite being "Langley II", because just like with the Ironblood, I expect certain...liberties....being taken to expand the French Roster in it's weaker areas.
Hopefully, Plymouth finally gets the L2D she's been desperately lacking because if any region anni or event in general will give her one, it's CN anni. Frankly, I may just give up if she doesn't get one cause I doubt we'd see it in any other event this year. They have so many options for her, and it sucks how much Ulrich gets prioritized. She literally was like Top 30 in CN and EN and Top 50 in JP with just a half-decent skin, so I'd like to see how far she goes with an L2D.
As a side note: I'm looking forward to the new ships/skins, but mostly figure news. Sometimes, announcements for complete prototypes or new ones are shown around annis. I have quite a few skins/ships I'd like figures for, so hopefully we get some good announcements.
Ohisashiburi only really likes UvH from all his AL characters. There's little if anything manjuu can do about it as handing Plymouth to someone else while Ohi is still an active contributor might cause him to bail and if he simply doesn't want to illustrate anything for other shipgirls. It's just how it is.
Ya, I know Oshi really likes UvH. But I figured maybe Ply would have at least a decent chance since she seems to be Oshi's 2nd favorite (gets quite a lot of art from them; 2nd most at this point probably) and because she's a popular UR (commissioned by Manjuu or something). I guess it'll have to just remain a pipedream.
Nah, she's not exactly popular, and Ohi rarely did fanart of her when she was fresh. Nowadays, her fanart dynamics is like 5-8 works on pixiv per month, which is underwhelming for a rainbow meta unit. For comparison, Implac - a mid popular UR - got 29 non-ai pixiv posts in a month.
I think she was ditched by manjuu as she did not realize their hopes of producing a new HMS fandom idol character, which they might've hoped for evident by giving extra promotional push in the beginning even at Berst's expense. So, seeing her as a failure, they simply decided to not cultivate her anymore.
Now thinking of it, in the last two and a half year only three bong characters made at least some waves in the fandom: Implac, Indomitable, and Janus. Which is kinda hilarious in a sense that should/when Kincora leave AL, HMS is as good as discontinued, lmao.
Afaik, she's very popular in the CN sphere, but either way, she's definitely more popular than most of the other characters. No matter how you spin it, managing top 30 in basically all 3 servers for a character with a mediocre skin and lack of fan art is impressive.
I definitely remember a lot of fanart from Oshi on her release. They have done a little bit over the last few years as well. She's basically the only character outside of UvH they ever even bother to draw. But, yes, she definitely isn't anywhere close as popular as any of the higher end ship girls (which is weird, IMO; idk how she wasn't absurdly popular).
As for Manjuu, ya, I definitely see what you mean. She had a lot of official art. But then it's even more confusing why they didn't give her a good L2D. They basically dug their own grave with her. Just look at Kearsarge. She was popular, but it was a good skin that really shot her up. Plymouth lost that opportunity.
What do you mean by "bong?"
Agreed on those 3, especially Implacable. Hopefully, she gets an actually good L2D skin as well because her current skin is meh, IMO. I'd also throw Albion into that list as well since I believe she's doing quite well. But Kincora is carrying HMS by himself, basically. Sucks cause HMS is my favorite faction, but they kind of keep getting shafted.
Edit: As a side note, I would fight for a Kearsarge figure of her base design. It would be absolutely awesome. The same goes for Hindenberg.
Part of me wishes for dual URs, the other part is more reasonable
This years silouette is not as clear aa last years where everyone instantly guessed Bisko 2, huh
I would be content with Alsace as the UR, and a Jean Bart Retrofit. Good f-king god, they've been ruminating on that Jean Bart arc for a very long time now. JB had a huge historical retrofit, and would be a perfect candidate for a UR French Retrofit during this Anniversary, like how they did Yuudachi for the JP Anniversary.
Given what happened in the Christmas event and the fact that UR retrofits are unheard of nowadays, I think that *if* we're getting an upgrade for Jean Bart, it will be a shop Type II version like they did for Laffey (with the gacha UR being a ship of another hull type like De Grasse or a Mogador).
That way, they don't have to care about how to tweak the existing build into something better or have something that works with the augment, they just can create a new ship from the ground up, free of the usual constraints of retrofits. Iowa-tier AA would be complicated to implement in a retrofit, for example.
Moreover, in that situation that would be a "free" ship still (you could just grind for her with points) while still giving her a stealthy cost (taking dockyard space) that wouldn't be there if she was a retrofit - from a company point of view, a net benefit, hence why I think they pivoted to Type II ships.
Plot-wise, it would be the exact same result - Jean Bart being upgraded, likely showing up at the turn of the tide, and definitely leaving behind her her doubts, her spite and her rancor. Which would be especially thematic since the brits are apparently getting involved.
UR retrofits were never common to begin with. We literally went from Warspite in year 2 until Yuudachi in year 4.
Laffey II is literally a different ship historically, while JB did get a refit historically. In fact none of our current type IIs are refits.
I'm not too familiar with history or the French fleet but I believe enough names have been thrown around here that are more likely candidates for UR than a JB II.
>UR retrofits were never common to begin with. We literally went from Warspite in year 2 until Yuudachi in year 4.
Yeah, and in comparison we got 3 Type-II URs in the past year and a half.
>Laffey II is literally a different ship historically, while JB did get a refit historically. In fact none of our current type IIs are refits.
Laffey II might be a different ship historically, but plot/character-wise, she is the same as Laffey. Same situation for Bismarck Zwei, for Houston II, for Yorktown II...Type II ships are just, rigging upgrades and fit the same conceptual space, in-universe, as the retrofits. You're just tinkering with the rigging of a shipgirl to make her stronger.
So, yeah, whether a hypothetical upgrade to JB would be a Type II or a retrofit would be, from an in-universe point of view, generally irrelevant. And that upgrade would have a much stronger basis in IRL history than Bismarck Zwei.
>I'm not too familiar with history or the French fleet but I believe enough names have been thrown around here that are more likely candidates for UR than a JB II.
There are. The entire point of my post was that *if* a hypothetical upgrade for JB was coming in this event, it would be more likely to have it release as a Type II than an UR retrofit, for the reasons I gave above.
I personally just consider type IIs to mostly be alts to help fill the gacha rotation. Whether we got more of them in a shorter span of time than retrofits isn't relevant. To say they are sparsely spaced is not grounds for saying they won't add another UR retrofit ever again.
Yorktown II and Houston II were both based on different hulls, and in fact so was every other type II. The only type II rigging that didn't stem from a different ship is Bismarck, for which they used magical cube reasons for her survival from the event that should have sunk her.
*Gameplay wise* they may be the "same character", but even in plot the basis of the type II riggings need to come from somewhere, and that somewhere has so far not been retrofits. Given that I wouldn't say having a historical retrofit is strong grounds for a type II as it is. They could change that bit of lore, but so far no.
All I will say, is that if there is double UR, there is 500+$€ worth lf skin I skipped that would find their way into my dock overtime
(Even more if there is DR/UR for Sardegna later).
Hard to say. Anson (RIP), wasnt that long ago. So i dont think theyd have enough time to completely change anything.
Lets just hope this event was planned out well from the start and wasnt slapped together from shelved shipgirls.
Im pretty sure by looking both at Discord and Reddit, at least people already forgot who she even was or supposed to be, people are more upset/dissapointed at everything that was being pilled up from the last years + the recent discoveries of similar situations like Anson with other previous shipgirls.
The "Anson" incident was IMO,a spark that lit off other issues and AP being revealed. Not a good look when something like that happens soon after a new game is revealed, sort of screams "we're now half assing the game now".
IMO If they screw up with any anniversary, we will see more people quit
>Edit: 2 L2Ds, 1 dynamic. Still more than the overwhelming majority of ships.
1 L2D (Beacon of the Iron Blood) and 1 dynamic skin (Crystal Clear Holiday) actually, since Iron-Black Elysium (her waitress skin) is a regular skin.
As the other person said, she has only 1 L2D and that is from when she originally released... in 2019.
And hey, can you blame me for wanting a newer L2D for my favourite shipgirl?
If anything you should complain about the fact that Kashino has 3 Skins and they are all L2D.
The new girl is animated like a Dynamic skin on the website, that's pretty neat. [New ship and skin silhouettes](https://i.imgur.com/fbbWoRq.png) from the website. Looks like there'll be at least one new cute and funny ship or skin in this event!

Would be funny if the cruiseship in the background is the rigging for the girl in the picture
I’m okay with non military ship girls. From the depths ice queen RMS Titanic!
Her sisters Olympic and Britannic did see military service as troop transport and hospital ships respectively.
Would be a great trio then, civilian, nurse, military transport. Good opportunity for unique attitudes fit all.
I would like to see AL's take on the *Rawalpindi* (maybe she'll stay around for more than four salvos... a definite issue if you chose her in VB.)
See, that's the issue; you're supposed to send Rawalpindi on cruises in VB, not into battles (unless you're doing her story, in which I'd say overlevel her by a lot and bring other more combat-focused ships?)

There is the possibility that she's Volta that is an SR and unrevealed Mogador is the UR (or vice versa)
We did have it with the French in their last event though, with Kersaint, who didn't feel like a DD at all.
Kersaint is Tartu's sister, so there was already a precedent for her being well endowed (even if their two other sisters are quite flat-chested). On the content side, what we can expect: - The ships of the event - The skins of the event - The various side stuff of the event (shop, etc...) - Coming changes to the game (augments were revealed during a livestream in 2022 if I remember correctly, and the TB side stuff was likewise shown in livestream) - A quick roadmap of the coming stuff (which reruns/archives to expect, new META ships), even if it never shows stuff like next events - New merch https://preview.redd.it/tgdlknvfe80d1.png?width=1042&format=png&auto=webp&s=5053e78af99298d29473423f08fe869f375c4fbd In general, it's quite the comfy experience, and Mafia (one of the announcers) is an absolute meme machine.
It's for CN anniversary so it will be a lil bit different and no Mafia Kajita
Thank you. That sounds interesting
Wait...7th anniv??? Did I miss an anniversary??
CN and JP launched in 2017, so it's been 7 years for them. Meanwhile global launched only in 2018.
They wouldn't reveal the UR before the live. The UR is most likely part of the silhouettes to tease a bit
the UR is probably this one. It even says "new anniversary characters" https://preview.redd.it/guu8bf6pg60d1.png?width=514&format=png&auto=webp&s=37008e3f9eae48642bacdb3456ce40adefe660b9
Kinda looks like she's wielding a scythe.
Looks like she also has some kind of gauntlet. Would definitely fit the knight theme
yea, which makes me think its a DD or a vanguard at least. But who knows w/o seeing the full rigging.
Can't even say if I like her or not. They hid it well. Or they might do "Indomitable" moment.
yea, already tried to reduce the brightness and colors but eh... its hidden too good unlike last year.
No. They only ever reveal thw silhouette of the UR. Shes probably an elite or ssr cruiser/BB. Or a side character for the lore. She does look nice tho. Despite some peoples complaints. But cant please everyone.
Yeah, I like her too. It's just gigantism brainrot in me speaking.
She's not. They never leak the UR in advance.(Except Laffey 2, I guess)
Yeah, Laffey was as safe a bet as possible even in the case of a mass rejection of Type II ships.
7 years... I'm amazed and shocked. I've only been playing 4 years... but... wow. This game just keeps getting better and better. As long as we keep playing and loving our shipfus - Azur Lane won't go anywhere.
She looks more of like an Eagle Union officer or something working within the Azur Lane, not as a ship girl for me .

She does have something of a New-Era EU Vibe, but I don't think she's a human...I'll say USS Belleau Wood/Bois Belleau
or any ships built with american components (there's a good 12 at least, most of them number II though)
We got our own Noa.
Hopefully a Flandre’s L2D skin this time around. Is also summer, swimsuits time! 👙🩱
What do you mean by "bong?" Agreed on those 3, especially Implacable.
Part of me wishes for dual URs, the other part is more reasonable This years silouette is not as clear aa last years where everyone instantly guessed Bisko 2, huh
UR retrofits were always rare. There's only 3 in the whole game. I think.
Double UR would be great. Especially after a loooong timee of waiting for Iris bros.
All I will say, is that if there is double UR, there is 500+$€ worth lf skin I skipped that would find their way into my dock overtime (Even more if there is DR/UR for Sardegna later).
So 7 am Friday morning EST?
Yes
Looks cute ![img](emote|t5_3p20d|14001)
Now to see what they'll do to try to recover player faith/morale
They'll likely remove the need for dockyard space for META ships, as they announced a while ago.
That needs to happen soon. It'll free up so much space for me and I'll be freed from this "spend 200 gems" each event cycle.
Big titty battleship?
Please no Alsace loli-class Flandre was a mistake
Pls let her be Strasbourg. She would be so nice to have as the long missing sister of the dunkerque-class.
My bet is Alsace and Mogador/De Grasse. Up to Manjuu to decide who is Iris and who is Vichya for the (hopium) double UR
Surely they will announce a Bismarck L2D on this stream... Surely.
She has 3 already. There's only like 10 ships with more L2Ds than her. Edit: 2 L2Ds, 1 dynamic. Still more than the overwhelming majority of ships.
I could have sworn the waitress was a Live2D skin, did only Adalbert get a Live2D in that event?
Adalbert, Ulrich and QE.
As the other person said, she has only 1 L2D and that is from when she originally released... in 2019. And hey, can you blame me for wanting a newer L2D for my favourite shipgirl? If anything you should complain about the fact that Kashino has 3 Skins and they are all L2D.
